The Rapha Continental began in the US in 2007 as an antidote to the clinical aspects of road racing. It was conceived as a more creative expression of road riding, with the belief that you don’t need to pin a race number on to experience the pleasure that comes from tough rides. In documenting their experiences the riders of the Continental created an inspiring online journal of films, photography, ride maps and cue sheets. The full crew of North American riders will be in house, along with their handmade steel bicycles, photos and journals, to tell tales of discovery. Free to the public.

Portland is famous for its architectural heritage: flamboyant Victorian iron front buildings, gleaming terra cotta towers, and stately classical edifices. But Portland is also home to an unheralded and unique collection of "Mussolini Modern" buildings... inspired by the early 20th century classical-moderne style that was the hallmark of Italy's Fascist years between the world wars. This tour, led by architect Rick Potestio will visit the best of these monuments.

Mellow ride from park to park all night long. Discover under-appreciated parks with plenty of play time at each- different parks every year. In past years we've had 30 people in one tree, a team of pandas playing frisbee, a cuddle party in a miniature park, saxophone along the bluffs, skinny-dipping in a heated pool, among other adventures. This ride is not a loop, and it will go late. BYOB, hula hoops, blankets, and park gear. It's a slow-ass pace but often of epic length for those who stay til the end. In 2012, 4 women, as part of the anonymous art collective Pussy Riot, were arrested in Moscow for a 1-minute performance inside the Cathedral of Christ Savior. Their song "Banish Putin" upset the cozy relationship between the Church and State and a harsh punishment was given. Of the four, two are currently serving 2 years in a labor camp for "hooliganism". In solidarity, we tour Portland’s Russian neighborhoods with costumes, Russian Punk and chants. Show them we haven’t forgotten! For more backstory, visit freepussyriot.org. Riders ride against themselves, not others, and aim to complete the course within specified time limits. Back for its 4th year, Get Lost! is a ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (Odd total =R, Even =L). You never know what to expect. Since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. Probably not a loop, but that's what we said the first year, and we (eerily) ended up in the exact place we started! Read about that year's ride here: http://bit.ly/eDaPZW

Finding a room to rent in Portland sucks - we've got the second-lowest apartment vacancy rate in the country. But thanks to bikes, things are about to get better: in the next two years, hundreds of new apartments designed for middle-class, low-car families will be opening up in the central city, hopefully helping keep rents under control for all of us. Michael Andersen and Zef Wagner will lead a ride to the awesomest and ugliest of these new buildings and a conversation about ways the city can keep bike-friendly rents low. Bring cash for a wonkalicious food cart meal at the end.

WE RIDE BY 8:15 -- DON'T BE LATE!!
10:30 PM
There's a history of scary business in Portland. Some people have died, others have soiled their britches. Let's ride around to some creepy places, maybe spot a spectre or two, drink a couple of drinkies and have a grand ol' time on bikes. If you know of any haunted spots in Portland, let Lil' Boo know and she'll try to incorporate them into the ride. We will ride RAIN OR SHINE for approximately 2.5 hours total. Route will be EASY and at a CASUAL pace. Ride is NOT A LOOP, will end in SE PDX. Not too late, but after dark. That's when the scary happens.

if a group of bikes rides by and no-one hears a thing, did they really ride by? yes, the s i l e n t r i d e. on the night before LiTnLOUD, silence. we love party rides! who doesn't? still, sometimes during the blissful chaos that is pedalpalooza, chilling and taking in your surroundings in active shared silence lets you listen to and feel everything a little more. a ten-mile long meditation, you might call it. or you might not call it anything.

A couple of history nerds will lead this tour of sites relating to Portland longshore labor history. Want to know where a boat full of scabs was attacked by striking workers? How about where Portland police opened fire on pickets? What's the story was with the Oregon Criminal Syndicalism Act? And for the acronym crew we can learn the difference between the ILA, ILWU, MWIU, MTW, IWW and WEA. Mostly we just want to share the history, so come along if you want to learn!

The past, present, and future of women on wheels. The legacy of women and cycling in an automobile-dominated culture has remained largely hidden. Today a movement is afoot to invite and encourage even greater numbers of women to hop on bicycles (some designed and built by women) for everything from everyday commuting to cyclecross.
