Ride around town with other urban explorers and see some new perspectives on p-town - from above! Bring your sense of adventure. Acrophobes (those with an acute fear of heights) will not dig it. However, it's all safe enough - as long as you are relatively sober. No money required, unless you wanna get something at Departure before we leave. Warning - it appears to be swanky. BUT - 15th floor! I'll probably just drink ice water and try not to annoy the waitstaff. This ride will not disappoint.

Don't be too late
Last year, over 80 people showed up to ride 16+ miles over the course of three hours. We received uncountable kudos from the general public for living free and brave in our pursuit of happiness; camped en masse for 15 minutes at the corner of MLK & Broadway for a flat repair; gave a classic naked finale to Cirque du Cycling; and took over downtown to circle Pioneer Square before meandering back to Joan of Arc. What should we do this year? (This year we added a second day ride on the 19th!!)

Time to choose sides. Do you think Han Solo can kick Kirk's ass? Would Spock take down Yoda? Time to get your light sabres or tricorders and dress up for some serious nerd quotient. Decorate yourselves and/or your bikes and battle it out on the streets of Portland, the skies over Endor, and wherever else the ride takes us. Sound systems invited, kids welcome for the early part of the ride, but later on, the silliness may get too much for them. This ride is free, but we understand Starfleet Academy might assess penalties.

My mom just learned how to ride a bike last year (shortly after her 54th birthday). During Pedalpalooza, she will be visiting for the first time since I moved to Portland 5 years ago. She and I will be leading the ride around inner SE/NE (with a loop around the waterfront). Relatively slow paced, mostly flat, plenty of corkers to protect our moms, and ending with optional smoothies and such (location is vegan friendly, 5 bucks should cover it). Moms and those of us who appreciate them are encouraged to attend. Please come out and show my mom why bike culture is so awesome!

5:00 PM
A ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (Odd total =R, Even =L). We will try to establish a record distance before reaching a dead end. No idea what to expect, but since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. Probably not a loop, but I guess there's always a chance.

What if...Portland built all the freeways it planned? This ride follows the routes of several highways that never made it off the drawing board, such as the fabled Mt. Hood Freeway, some that did but were later removed, like Harbor Drive, and also as a reference some freeways that currently exist. We'll see the parallels of the past freeway fights with what's going on with the current Columbia River Crossing project. Approx 13 miles of riding through moderate traffic.

A rare IRL meeting of PDXFixed, Portland's bicycle Illuminati, or "lifeblood of bike culture," as BikeSnobNYC put it. This "ride" may involve very little riding and the content will be decided on what may seem to the uninitiated as petty whim, but in reality is due to the bike Gods revealing their Truth to us with each no brak barspin. What's certain is imbibing of the vile, ceremonial "4Loko," rejoicing, hating on posers, and making important decisions about the future of bike culture. Pdxfixed.com for mo info. Lurkers welcome, but may be subject to harsh criticism of their saddle angle

The Time Travel City Guide for Portland lists 10 things that beg to become a Pedalpalooza ride. Time says 24 hours... by bike I think we can knock that down significantly. There will be beer, boobs, bridges, baked goods, bushes (Rose), books, some other B word! Oh yea... BIKES. Social pace, no one left behind, bring bucks for treats, teats, beer, and movie. Due to the length of the ride, the phone number on this entry will ring to the ride leader letting you join up wherever the ride may be! Great for visitors, and Portlanders who love Portland.

Come celebrate the ribbon cutting for the largest bike corral in the Lloyd District. Further cultivating Portland's bike culture, a unique partnership between the Lloyd TMA, a project team from the 2010 Leadership Portland, and the Doubletree Hotel, has resulted in 62 new covered bike parking spots at the Doubletree Hotel benefiting bicyclists commuting to the area. "Giving up parking spaces to provide bike parking for neighborhood commuters is a natural fit for the Doubletree. We strive to operate a sustainable, responsible business within our community."
