Upcycles PDX

It's that time of year again! Find your bike and lets ride from Beaverton Transit Center to the kickoff location. We will be taking the usual route up over the hill via the Sunset Hwy path and the zoo. For the uninitiated this does include a fairly steep hill. Our pace and route choice will focus on being as comfortable as possible for a variety of riders, including families, but please be cautious of the hill (both climbing and descending) with very young kids. We do have places to be so while I anticipate giving ourselves plenty of time to not rush, we will try to leave on schedule.

Honestly I don't want to travel to Kerns again for the Queer kickoff R2R so we're gonna do one in the Westside! -UPDATE: I've now added a stop at Washington Park MAX which will allow riders to skip the climb and join us around 16:00 PLEASE BRING YOUR GAYNESS FROM THE WESTSIDE AND MAKE YOURSELF BE SHOWN AND SEEN AT SUNSET TC, AS WE RIDE INTO THIS YEAR'S PRIDE MONTH AND BIKE SUMMER SIMULTANEOUSLY, YOU LOVELY PEOPLE!! This ride will be taking the Sunset Highway MUP and joining with Tim's Beaverton R2R at Washington Park MAX. There will be a decent amount of climbing, so please be prepared. The route is also fairly long, but that's what happens when we come from afar.

This ride is for anyone wanting to ride as a group from Vancouver, across the interstate bridge through Delta Park, and into the Bike Summer Kickoff Ride event that starts in Alberta Park @ 5PM (Kickoff Ride leaves Alberta Park at 6:30) We are also responding to the call out this year to "bring your whimsical side out with themes from you're heart." As your Ride Leader I be presenting my themed ego of the a mumbler oriented version of the Swedish Chef from the Muppets. I encourage you to come dressed up as well if you dare and do so safely, remembering we have moving parts that can entangle costume components. Let's discover whether you are a Muppet of a person, or a Puppet of chaos. This ride is ideal for the casual rider that wants to become more comfortable navigating across the I5 Interstate bridge and through Delta Park. This route is keen on lower traffic pressure as we utilize the cycling infrastructure the entire route, featuring west side of I5 along the Max line from the Expo Center, and making use of the Columbia Slough Train, and the main line bike lain up North Vancouver Ave to cut over on NE Durham Ave to NE Ainsworth St. I led this ride last year, which was received well by a dozen of us. Thanks again to cyclevancouver.bike, Jason and Israel, for the patchwork on my flat we had last year in Delta Park. Just another example of the benefit of traveling as a group. Ride leaves a little early, which gives you ample time to chill grab a bite to eat and watch the crowds build for the kickoff of event ride leaving at 6:30. Come join one of your Clark County BPAC (bicycle and pedestrian advisory committee) volunteers for an opportunity to give input on anything that's on your mind with cycling infrastructure in Clark county. Start your Pedalpalooza season with us on Monday! We’ll roll out from Pour Decisions on Foster and head to Alberta Park to connect with the official Bike Summer - Kickoff Ride! Come out and meet up with your Foster Powell neighbors and ride together. Come support your local bottle shop, get hidrate and bring water. The store has n/a drinks (my favorite is the watermelon juice). There will be a break/bathroom stop at Laurelhurst Park before we get to final destination. Looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Ride bikes together with kids and families, from Grant Park to Alberta Park for the start of Pedalpalooza’s Bike Summer Kick-Off ride! This is a moderate paced ride, for kids on bikes and parents on cargo bikes. We’ll ride 3.5 miles, from the playground in Grant Park, to Alberta Park, which will be the start of the Pedalpalooza kick-off ride. We will ride at 515pm sharp and should arrive at Alberta Park at about 5:45pm, so you have time to pick up t-shirts and pennants, while kids can use the playground or enjoy other activities. Then at 6:30pm you can also join us if you want to ride the whole route of the Kick-Off Ride , along with other families and kids. That ride will be 4.5 miles long and has several hills, so younger kids may need to switch to a trailer or cargo bike with a grown-up. While our ride is 3.5 miles one-way and has one morderate hill which will be fine for grade schoolers on their own bikes, if you do the whole loop along with the Kick-Off Ride it will be 8 miles total, so it would be appropriate for 4th grade plus, or younger kids who are strong fast confident riders, to ride their own bike the whole way. Our ride will be suitable for young bike riders who can pedal their own bike uphill in a straight line. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line without training wheels, start and stop, and follow instructions. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for younger or less confident kids, or in case kids get tired of pedaling. Bicycle Kitty rides

One of the best thing to happen because of the pandemic is summer yoga at The Side Yard Farm. Let's ride bikes together to this amazing urban farm and practice yoga with a view of the growing flowers and veggies. This is a ~30 minute ride followed by an hour yoga practice. You MUST pre-register for the yoga class prior to the event (see link). Space is limited and those not pre-registered and without a signed waiver will be turned away. Class is donation-based to raise funds for The Bhakti Yoga Movement Center's equity fund. Suggested donation $20. Beginner friendly, all abilities welcome. There are steps to get to the practice lawn and the space is unpaved with wood chip paths. This ride is not a loop. We will ride together to the Farm, practice yoga, and then depart on our own routes and schedule. I'm happy to guide back to inner SE Portland on my way home. Bring a yoga mat or a towel, water, and maybe a snack. We do need to climb Alameda Ridge to get to the Farm, so there are 2 blocks of pretty solid up-hill on the journey. This is a no-drop ride and we will regroup as needed.

Every kid will get a free scoop, but donations will be needed to cover costs if you're able. Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, rolling out from Salmon Street Springs every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic, party-paced social ride with warmth and weirdness from our welcoming “rolling dive bar” regulars. Most rides feature regularly spaced park and store stops, generally leading to a lively end spot around 11 PM. Come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. Strong Thursday traditions, stronger shared expectations. While you might see some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct. If you’ve been asked not to attend *any* Shift rides, you are not welcome at TNR—that’s not up for debate on our ride. Casual ride to art galleries for the First Friday Art Walk. First Friday Art Walk is a monthly tradition where inner SE art galleries stay open late, bring in artists, have free food, and have hands-on arts projects. http://firstfridaypdx.org/ Biking is the best way to get around to these galleries. We get to 5-8 galleries, depending on how long our group spends in each gallery. We don't know exact routes and galleries, because we decide in the moment. We'll stay out until ~9:30pm, then see if folks are up for a group dinner afterwards. Join for as many galleries as you like, and leave when you wish. If you have a sound system bring it! I love music on group rides. Ride details: 5-15 minutes of biking between galleries. Our ride is perfect for new cyclists and families with kids. We'll go at a slow pace so folks can socialize, and everyone can keep up. We use small neighborhood streets with minimal cars. The ride ends at a different location from the start. If you need advice for how to bike home afterwards or get to your car, chat with the ride leader.

We honor the legacy of one of the great Ambassadors for Portland and lifelong Bike Advocate Bill Walton who lead the Portland Trail Blazers to their one and only Championship in 1977. The Big Red Head and Famed Dead Head was literally one of the biggest (definitely the tallest) Grateful Dead Fans on the planet. Truly one of the great humanists of his generation. The Grateful Dead will be the primary music of choice accompanying the ride. Friday night ride is a social ride for people who enjoy a sporty pace and adventurous routes. Every ride is different but generally range between 15 and 25 miles and you can expect some climbing and higher speeds than your average pedalpalooza ride. NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE. Riders should be self sufficient and have a plan for getting themselves home. This is a bicycle-forward group ride. Pedal-assist ebikes are ok (class 1 & 2). Throttle heavy, high speed battery powered motor bikes are not (class 3 & 4). If you're not pedaling it’s not a bicycle and you will asked to leave. Bring lights/locks/responsible vibes/a cup/ Casual pace with some extra zip 10-20ish mile rides with store stops/park stops/art stops NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Have you never heard an Outdoor Warning/Tornado/Air Raid Siren in your life? Or maybe you used to live in the Midwest and miss the electromechanical harmony they produce! Well this ride will take us to Gaston, located in beautiful rural Washington County, about a 13 mile ride, with not too much climbing from downtown Hillsboro. They happen to have an electromechanical siren (one that actually has moving parts, not a giant speaker) that they restored a couple years back, and they test it every first Saturday at noon! It is a Federal Signal 3T22, one of the most iconic American sirens ever made. This ride is an OUT AND BACK format, meaning we will be starting at Hillsboro Civic Centre, heading to Gaston, and then heading back to HCC via the same way, which is about 26 miles round trip. We will try our best not to drop on this ride, however we cannot delay too much, as the siren sounds sharply at noon, and there is only finite buffer time. Also, there is NO RELIABLE BUS OR MAX SERVICE AFTER LEAVING HILLSBORO. This means that if you are riding an EBike, to make sure you have enough range, and for anyone that your bike is in good condition, and that you have enough water and snacks, so that you do not need to be "rescued" home. We will make some stops along the way to carb up, hydrate, and enjoy the view! I do not recommend children, as the overall length is quite long, however if you would like to bring children in the Westside, consider looking at my Kidical Mass rides.

For those of us raised on PBS, we are familiar with the shows Mr. Rogers, Reading Rainbow, etc. This ride will honor PBS and those gentle memories it provided(s). Take a ride through my neighborhood (SE PDX) while we listen to tunes from the show and channel alike. There wont be a store stop, but we will take pauses at parks along the way, so plan your snacks accordingly. *ride may incorporate gravel/unpaved alleyways, so bring a spare tube just in case* This is a no drop ride and is socially paced! Come ride or race bikes in a fun little scavenger hunt in the Brentwood-Darlington neighborhood (and a bit beyond). We'll meet at the picnic tables on the west side of Brentwood Park. Riders/racers will be given a manifest and a paper map (no digital wayfinding allowed!). This year's alley alley catty will feature alleys! These alleys are "unimproved" (not paved) so consider your bike and tire choice wisely. Find as few or as many locations as you'd like, then head to the Foster Food Carts for a finish line prize party. Bring a pen. Back for its 16th year, Get Lost! is a Pedalpalooza Bike Ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (odd total = R, even =L). We ride until we find a natural end point. Feel free to bail whenever you wanna go somewhere else. You never know what to expect. Since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. This year the starlight and grand floral parade have been combined. By combined, they mean there are going to be two parades back to back 🙃 Grand floral parade starts at 630 and the straight parade begins at 830. If you haven’t been to the starlight parade before, it begins at dusk and is lit up! Bring light up things to wear or show off and be a part of the fun. We will ride from ladds across Hawthorne bridge. We will meet in the circle at 530 and leave at 545; I want to make sure we have enough time to move through the parade route and find a space for us and our bikes. Will also give you time to walk around and get any snacks or drinks you may need. I recommend bringing a beverage of the adult type to enjoy while watching the parade :) Bring a lock but hopefully we’ll find a space big enough to stash our bikes with us. We'll meet at Go By Bike to discuss and demonstrate the sweepers, then go ride to several types of bike infrastructure to review techniques, strategy, and considerations for keeping lanes usable. You can try pulling the sweeper trailers from your own bike if you have a burley trailer hitch on your rear axle, or try temporarily trading bikes with someone with a hitch. An e-bike is often necessary to pull the trailers up hills.

Join us for a combination bike ride and making music in various parks, as we take a ‘ukulele and friends acoustic jam. All acoustic instruments transportable by bike are welcome! Singers, that means you, too! No one turned away for lack of uke! We will play a few songs at our meeting spot, ride to our next destination, play a few more songs, ride on, etc. No riding while playing, nor vice versa, planned. This will not be an arduous ride, and we will stick to bike-friendly streets. The ride is NOT a loop but the final stop is only a five-minute ride from the start. If you haven’t ridden with your instrument, give it a try before the ride so you find the right fit / position on your bike or on your back (tip for riding with a backpack-style case: adjust the shoulder straps on your case so your instrument sits diagonally on your back, giving your head and helmet more room). Helmets and water bottles are strongly urged, as well as any snacks you may want during the ride (there will not be any store stops). You may want a towel or blanket to sit on at each jam spot if you don't like sitting directly on grass, and a sun hat for when we stop to play music. Bar Botellon Tapas Menu

We did this noble cause ride before: Bring a dead laptop and we bring it to life right in front of you. We also help you wipe/crush your hard drive right in front of you. We bring the tools and let you take the same tools home. We haul "ALL DEAD" stuff to Freegeek for you the following Wednesday to Sat 11am to 4pm, aka when our anarchist egalitarian group decides. Bring a blank USB thumb drive and we will wipe that clean and give you something that will boot open source to 3 different open source operating systems and make you able to wipe or factory reset other computers down the road. We teach you to fish. Heck, we might even be able to do the same for a desktop if you do all the hauling. There is power at the carts. Optional: bring thumb drives, bring a cargo bike or trailer. We might do this more often in the summer. We are masking friendly and whole thing is outdoors. Bring kids. We want to teach all ages how to save the planet from cars and other stuff. Taco Tuesday Rides 🌮🚲 (21+ only) Join us every Tuesday evening for a fun, social, and chill community bike ride around Portland! 📍 Meet-Up Location: Salmon Street Springs 🕕 Meet Time: 6:00 PM 🚴 Roll Out: 6:30 PM 📅 Every Tuesday from June 2, 2026 through August 25, 2026. Each ride is a loop and will range from approximately 2–4 miles at a relaxed, social pace. Every Tuesday we’ll visit a different taco spot or local establishment depending on capacity and availability. This ride is about building community, having a good time, and creating a welcoming space for everyone. All attendees are expected to be respectful of one another, the ride leader, corkers, and the establishments we visit. Riders must obey all traffic laws, stay in the right lane when riding, and not pass the ride leader unless instructed otherwise. No disrespect, harassment, or harmful behavior of any kind will be tolerated. We want everyone to feel safe, included, and comfortable while riding together. TuTu Tuesday Festival Bike ride! Decorate your bike with lights and color and beats and funk. This is a ride series on the second Tuesday of the month: June, July, and August. 6 A flattish 2-3 mile meandering ride from the Brooklyn Neighborhood to The Vern, a local dive that hosts Woosday, the weekly Burning Man meetup and post happy hour hangout Meet at 6:15 PM. Party pace starts at 7 PM. Ride starts at TomCat Bikes; get there earlier than 6pm for inflation and last minute comfort fixes. Ride ends at the Vern (over 21). The ride is open to all ages.

We meet up every other Tuesday. We ride in the Southeast Portland we have food carts and a beer tent at the start of the ride. And we go somewhere and generally have a fire. You've heard the adage "if these streets could talk." Thanks to a mysterious (and mysteriously expensive) history book from Powells, they can finally be heard in three sentence summaries. And they have got a lot to say, I'll tell you what. In this reverse alley cat, we'll take and follow suggestions from the crowd, going to each street and reading from the mysterious tome.

Is your bike a POS? Does it announce your arrival long before you actually arrive? This ride is for you. Could we get our bikes up the Terwilliger hill? Of course we could. Are we going to on this ride? Hell no. Easy flat route celebrating the joy of riding. ** Fancy bikes tolerated but please no technical talk about fancy brakes, derailleurs, etc. We don't care on this ride.

There is so much going on! SO much so that we don't even know where to begin with describing this ride. So we will say this. It will be fun and will have plenty of funny business.
