Ladds 500 is next week, so let's get a chance to prepare for the rotational fun on this ride! I'm not affiliated with Ladds 500. We will be at NE Parks Edge Circle in Hillsboro, with the nearest MAX stop being the Fairplex. We'll do 50 laps and chill in the middle when we're done. Also, feel free to bring in whatever silly contraption of a bike you may have I'm also using this as a chance to preview how much interest people might have on doing a larger circular ride over in the Westside, as the plan is to do a grand ride at the end of the dry season!

Hey, it's me, Viv! You might know me from the Lord of the Rings ride, or from co-leading The Totally 100% True and Not at All Made Up Historical Tour of Portland Ride. I'm usually the one coasting around on inline skates, though occasionally I show up on a bike. This year I'm turning 46 and celebrating the only way that makes sense, a roughly 7-8-mile skate/bike cruise around town and through parks with good people. Come roll (or pedal) with me on some smooth-ish streets and beautiful spring weather! Ride is a loop. Can't make the ride? No worries, I'll also be hanging out at Moore's Alley from 6-8pm. Swing by and say hi either way! All riders, all wheels, all welcome. Warning: If you are on skates, hill control is a must. We will be going down a couple steep hills.

Sat, Apr 4, 2026, 4:00 PM
Ride is a loop
Thereās rides some of us talk about doing for months and ever since The New Country versus New Authentic country row last Summer Moorland and Ella had talked about making this ride happen. This ride will have both leaders cohosting and wonāt be two parallel rides. Hereās Ellaās description: The playlist is for the nights you remember every heartbreak, every messed-up moment, and every feeling you didnāt know how to handle. Blink-182, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Paramore, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, Panic! At The Disco, and Good Charlotte, are a few of the bands that became the soundtrack to growing up, to surviving middle school, high school, first loves, and first losses. Now, youāre older, life is messy in different ways, but sometimes you need to grab your bike, hit the streets, and let those songs carry you. Singing loud at stoplights, doing your best to headbang and pedal through the city, letting the angst, nostalgia remind you of who you were and who youāve become and what you have overcame. Itās not about speed. Itās not about distance. Itās about showing up, feeling everything, and letting the music make it okay to take space, be loud, and feel alive. If these bands and others were in your soundtrack too, come ride. Big feelings, jams, and maybe a little magic Hereās Moorlandās description: Hoping to redeem the lost to Ellaās win last year and bring out the Emo Titansā¦. Expect The Cure, One Last Wish, Moss Icon, Split Lip, Indian Summer, Rites of spring, Minor Threat, as well as the softer side from late new wave bands and other 80ās and early 90ās artists with a penchant for eyeliner and lyrics about the futility of life and trying but also romantic frustrationā¦. Could this be my chance to regain glory after lasts years utter defeat? Hoping the Cure beats out Deathcab for Cutie⦠As with all our rides we practice consent and non-violence. We ask everyone to be responsible for the safety of the ride and riders by being considerate and respectful⦠Ie please donāt race through the group while riding no hands and smoking a cigerette while blasting your own music from a tiny speakerā¦.

Ride length: 3-8 miles
Ride around NE Portland with Kidical Mass! Put on your bunny ears and celebrate spring with a family-friendly bike ride and egg hunt. Weāll ride from the Irving Park playground to Grant Park on neighborhood greenways and quiet streets. The ride is a loop, with a break at the playground and egg hunt in the middle, so its suitable for most young bike riders who can pedal their own bike. Decorate your bikes and helmets with bunny ears and flowers, and bring a basket for easter eggs for the kids. We ride slow for little pedalers and parents on cargo bikes. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line, start and stop. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who havenāt learned to pedal. Weāll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too! Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46279660

April 5 is Star Trekās high holy First Contact Day, when extraterrestrials first greet earthlings. Celebrated by making new friends with intelligent beings wildly alien to you. Prophecy foretells that on this date in 2063, the first warp flight by Zefram Cochrane in Bozeman Montana leads to Vulcans finally introducing themselves, changing humanity forever. Seems like a good theme for a group ride on a Sunday afternoon with decent weather. Ride is a loop, in the shape of the Star Fleet symbol. Visits at least SEVEN Star Trek related sights over 15 miles. Bar stop halfway, possible projector movie at end. One hard hill, some sidewalks, possible stairs if the Wesley Crusher WunderCrossing's turbolift is offline. Actually we leave at 7:30 nowā¦itās too cold to hang around
Ride is a loop
Welcome to Mellow Mondays 2026. Are you interested in leading a ride? This is a supportive and organized way to lead for the first time. Every week thereās different themes but there are constantsā¦. Slow pace, about 8 mph, Distance varies but approx 10 miles, Family friendly, We practice consent and non-violence on all our rides, Store stop for safe clean bathroom access but generally we try and make these stops short, Skater friendly (but please check with ride leader about crunchy or potential issues for skates), ALL Wheels friendly (scooter, skates, skateboard, e bikes etc), Ride is always a loop, Corking and traffic intersections are calm. Be mindful of smoking around others and do not smoke around children. FAQ, Can I bring a speaker? Yes but please speak to the ride leader and play the music theyāve carefully selected or what their preference is. Can I lead a ride? Yes, please attend a few first and get a feel for how the rides are. Iāve heard NakedHearts supports other rides? Yes, we can help with planning, encouragement, promotion, sound support and what not. What do you mean you practice consent? We ask everyone (even friends, relatives, husbands and wives with each other) to ask for permission before touching anyone else or their belongings and when asking to seek listen and empower āNoā. What do you mean you practice Non-violence? We specifically expect everyone to be calm, kind and respectful with all car interactions. One riders aggression to a car driver can put everyone else at risk. We live in a small city and are bound to encounter the same drivers again. Are all your rides a protest? Yes, being together with respect and acceptance and finding comfort and joy around others and strangers is an act of protest against the divisive paradigm we are in.

Poetry along Columbia River Gorge
See: https://gorgepedal.com/gppoetry/maps.html for highway exits
A J Zelada & Gorge Pedal
Sat, Apr 11, 2026, 7:00 AM
Ride is Self directed on Car Free paved Trails. Best to ride in daylight. Two sections are detailed at GorgePedal.com/gppoetry/
9:00 AM
Ride is a loop
End location: Both ride are segments and can be loops.
Ride length: 8-15 miles
A pop-up Celebration of Words and Vision will be shown along the Columbia River Gorge. Poetry and art will be along two car free trails of Historic Columbia River Highway paved and accessible. Riding is Self Directed and not a group ride. The word and visual poetics center around the Columbia River Gorge and are placed within the panoramas of the Gorge. Come celebrate the work of Claudia Luna Castro, Kara Briggs, Kelly Lenox, and Speakthunder Berry. Read the words and see their artwork as the heart & mind landscape of the Columbia River Gorge. Let your own heart, mind, and eyes take in this place unique to the world. Come Walk, Roll, or Cycle these Car Free paved trails along two sections, 1) Wyeth to Starvation Creek and 2) Hatfield Twin Tunnels trails. Accessible Restrooms are at both ends of each trail. Each pop-up section has embedded poetry and art along each 4-mile trail. Two artists will have their artwork near one of the initial trail entrances within a half mile from the parking lot. Two poets will have their poems near the middle of the 4-mile total length (e.g. at 1.5 to 2 miles from either end). Those not used to walking/rolling/cycling a lot can enjoy a short distance from the parking lot of two spots for poems and artwork. For those wanting more, consider doing both two loops of about 8 miles each! Remember this is not an athletic event; it is time to take a break from the madness of the world and imbibe in the grandeur of this very world we call the Gorge. Sadly, there is no car free connection between the two trails nor are direct transit connections between these two event destinations. Trail comment: Both trails have an ADA appropriate 5% grades and are completely easy for parents with strollers & people using assistive devices. This event is a Welcome for All Bodies, All Ages, All Bikes, All Abilities for reinvigorating hearts & minds. Maps & I-84 exit directions available at the below web site. Details can be viewed: https://gorgepedal.com/gppoetry/ We hope to see you on the trails by the poems and artwork. Questions & comments: ajz@zelada.com
