Come celebrate with Cody as he begins his 1400mile bike tour from Portland to Los Angeles to celebrate five years of life after a near-fatal bike crash! On July 17th, 2021, Cody Hoyt was hit and run over by a car while riding in a bike lane in Los Angeles. He broke his left femur, left shoulder, and 10 ribs; punctured both lungs; and sustained 3rd degree burns. His recovery was difficult and remains ongoing, but it has not defined him. Five years later, on Friday July 17th, 2026: Cody is departing Portland on a bike and continuing south until he gets to Los Angeles and finishes the ride he was trying to do when he got hit. The ride will start with a celebratory wheel dip at Poet’s Beach at 9:30a. He'll dip his rear tire into the Willamette River just as he’ll dip his front tire into the Pacific Ocean when he finishes his tour on the beach in Santa Monica. From there he'll wave goodbye as he departs south down the waterfront, pedals over Tilikum Crossing, and then heads down the Springwater Corridor towards his eventual first night stop in Newberg. Cody would love for any and all to celebrate with him as he begins his journey. It’ll be a small and short affair, but it’s always great to be surrounded by community when you’re about to start big new things. **If you want to ride with Cody** Cody would love for any interested riders to join him for the first few (or however many) miles of his ride. His route will proceed down the the Springwater Corridor and Trolley Trails to Oregon City before heading west through Canby and Champoeg, finishing in Newberg. **You are welcome to ride with Cody along any and all parts, peeling off at any time, but this is not a formal "group ride".**
