End location: 3106 NE 83rd
Ride length: 8-15 miles
Come learn about ADUs, tiny houses on wheels, and the small housing possibilities hiding in plain sight all over Portland. We’ll start at a custom ADU I built for a short, casual class on ADUs, middle housing, and what’s possible on a typical Portland lot. From there, we’ll hop on bikes and ride across town to check out a few real-life examples of ADUs and tiny houses on wheels. We’ll end at my current project: a 5,000-square-foot lot that will soon have two ADUs and a tiny house on wheels. I’ll walk you through the plan, what I’ve learned, what I’d do differently, and why I’m so excited about small-scale housing as a way to create more flexible, affordable, community-minded living options in Portland. This ride is also part of the launch of Small House Club PDX, a new community for people interested in ADUs, tiny homes, middle housing, creative land use, and making Portland a little more livable one small home at a time. Bring your questions, curiosity, love of bikes, and enthusiasm for small housing
