5:30: Meet! Greet! Maybe eat! And of course SING! 6:30 Roll out to our next stop.
Do you: Love to bike? Hate authoritarianism? Believe music has an important place in movements for social justice? Welcome to the Singing Resistance Ride! We will ride to sites in Northeast Portland impacted by ICE violence and intimidation, and to sites that embody the way Portlanders are protecting one another. At each stop, we'll learn a bit about why the location is significant, and we will teach/learn/sing songs from the national Singing Resistance movement. 5:30: Meet! Greet! Maybe eat! And of course SING! (If you want to make this your dinner stop, we recommend pre ordering takeout to enjoy outside amongst your fellow riders.) 6:30 Roll out to our next stop. This will be a neighborhood ride of community building, with a route that is inviting to bicyclists of all levels of experience, and songs that are easy to learn by ear. Singing Resistance is a national movement started in Minnesota to protect and care for our communities in the face of rising authoritarianism. We sing publicly in the streets—to connect to one another, build strength and solidarity, protect our neighbors, and voice our dissent. Learn more about Singing Resistance here: https://tinyurl.com/toolkitSR We will also share information on how to join a Singing Resistance pod here in Portland.
