Ride is on! Tonight is also a LUNAR ECLIPSE.
Mt Hood Ave MAX Station, 9401 NE Cascades Pkwy, Portland, OR 97220
Meet on the east side of the station, on the side nearest to Target. Note that Google Maps will show Target as the location, the station is just west of there. Of course, if you took the MAX, you need not worry about this.

Meet at 6:30, ride at 7 PM. Plan to stick around until 9:15 if you want to see the entire eclipse
10:30 PM
End location: A mystery!
Ride length: 3-8 miles
Sunset/Moonrise Rides are generally special, but tonight's edition (if tonight happens to be Thursday August 27) is going to be extra special because we will also see an almost-total LUNAR ECLIPSE! Earth's shadow will obscure about 96% of the moon. This will be the last lunar eclipse visible in Portland until 2028! Stock up on snacks and libations before meeting up, then depart on a chill, slow-ish paced 5-mile (give or take) ride to our mystery destination where we can see both the sun set and moon rise. Ride not a loop. Lights, layers, and a picnic blanket are good ideas. Extra credit if you bring a telescope or good binoculars to observe the moon. Please note: THERE IS NO STORE STOP. There is a big-ass store at the start, so go there beforehand. There PROBABLY WON'T be open bathroom(s) at the end. Also: RIDE NOT A LOOP, we end where we stop. If you need help getting back to the start, let me know. THIS RIDE ENDS FURTHER OUT, A FEW MILES FROM TRI-MET. Please note this. And most importantly: THIS IS A GOOD CONDITIONS RIDE. Clouds, rain, smoke, and excessive heat may cancel the ride. Check the Shift calendar on the day of ride for confirmation. Sunset 7:57 PM, Moonrise 7:49 PM ECLIPSE STARTS JUST BEFORE MOONRISE MAXIMUM ECLIPSE AT 9:12 PM
