Music about fighting the system, Standing up for those around you, Pushing back on the ideas of conformity and passive acceptance. Attacking the corporate system and capitalism running out of control. NMA has gone through a maturing as they started in the early 80’s and their style and music has developed a lot over the decades. From driving drums, riffs and bass and all out ‘F$&@ this system’ punk yelling too more rounded vocals, lyrics and mature music that still clearly says, ‘F$&@ this system’. This band has meant the world to me personally and has a profound influence on my political and personal views. They speak directly to the experience of growing up in the post industrial depressed region of the North of England. They constantly talk of the beauty and mysticism of the Moors and the windswept hills in comparison to the valleys where factories and mills reduce people too nothing but cogs in a machine that doesn’t value them. They draw the gaze too fighter jets practicing low level bombing in the Lake District and its incongruousness to the beauty of the region, they speak of run a ways escaping dire home life and tattooing themselves to fit in, the plight of immigrants, the giving of oneself sexually just to feel at least for some time a sense of being loved, the lost of friends to illness and addiction, the prevailing mental health impacts on a society forced to conform too working endlessly only too afford nothing but a pissed up weekend a moldy flat and little hope in anything but to keep your head down and don’t rock the boat… I love this band. This ride is a continuation of the effort to cast of the ‘being small’ feeling that harassment has caused me personally and in wanting to limit my self expression and joy so as not to be targeted more, but eff that. We practice consent and non-violence on all our rides. This ride has raucous music but being aggressive towards others on the ride with riding style or drivers is totally unfitting the spirit of this band and you will be asked to moderate your behavior or leave.
