Rolling 7:30
Let's roll from sun up to sun down to celebrate the beginning of Winter. This is the 4th annual! For summer solstice where we ride all night on the shortest night of the year. This ride is the inverse: ride all day on the shortest day. Optional later start at coffee/breakfast stop at around 8:30. Location: Our Spot PDX @1816 S River Dr, Portland, OR 97201 Aim is to warm/fuel up and roll out from here no later than 9. Be ready for winter weather (forecast suggests rain)! This is a long format ride. Come prepared with rain gear, layers, lights, snacks & water. Ride will include at least one store stop and one coffee stop, other stops will seek cover. Ride will end at a warm establishment for drinks/food (I will plan for a few different end spots based on pace of ride/severity of weather). Route details: Route options go from 26-35mi tbd based on weather, 2.5-3k' climb! Solstice/Equinox rides aim to be challenging/adventurous and aim to test gear and rider endurance. Leader invites riders to prepare their bikes for the upcoming season. Expect the route to contain "funny business," i.e. trail/gravel, exploration of areas that may not generally considered bike routes, and potential hike-a-bike sections. No drop mentality, the group will stop for mechanicals etc. However, please be prepared to ride at around 12-15mph to keep up. Contact: 7one4 6two3 43two4
