Hey all - as you may have seen, the Gaza Sunbirds - a paracycling group in Gaza, Palestine have put out a request to ride in solidarity as a world cycling community on Saturday, Dec 7th. Let's show up, be in community, and show our incoming city leadership that a ceasefire resolution and a divestment pledge should be their first actions when they step into City Hall. We have political will as a group of cyclists, and we can use it to help others, not just ourselves. I welcome collaboration with any other organization in Portland doing the work to Free Palestine. This ride will be a political protest - we will have some speakers before the ride telling the group about advocacy work that YOU can get involved in to stop the genocide. Bring your keffiyeh! Bring your palestinian flags! Bring your protest signs! We will go over a few chants before the ride starts and we will be shouting at the rooftops for a free Palestine. Route will be mild - 4-7 miles. There will be no store stop - but we may roll past some Pro-Palestinian Businesses and point them out to the group as places to spend money that don't contribute to the US War Machine. Starting point will be Colonel Summers Park - by the tennis courts. Please wear a mask for the more vulnerable among us.
