Join for a short and relatively easy ride from Laurelhurst Park (meet near the bathrooms in the center of the park) to the SWANA Jana Bazaar being held at Nomadic Vintage Rugs (516 SE Morrison St). Check out @mulberryjaan on Instagram for details. There will be local SWANA and BIPOC vendors with beautiful crafts and foods; wonderful display of cultures; and, opportunities to support the Palestinian struggle. "What is SWANA? SWANA is a decolonial word for the South West Asian/ North African (SWANA) region in place of Middle Eastern, Near Eastern, Arab World or Islamic World that have colonial, Eurocentric, and Orientalist origins and are created to conflate, contain and dehumanize our people. We use SWANA to speak to the diversity of our communities and to forward the most vulnerable in our liberation." (Source: swanaalliance.com/about) Approximate route: From Laurelhurst Park to SE Ankeny heading west to SE 6th where we will head south to the venue. Along the way we will likely stop briefly to point out a few establishments that are listed on the new website PDXtoPalestine.com and who are supporting the Palestinian struggle in one way or another. It is essential that we support each other and uplift voices that are fighting for collective liberation. This ride is conducted in that spirit. (NOTE: The ride is mostly flat or downhill except for the initial short uphill out of Laurelhurst Park.) Hope to see you on the ride! Free Palestine!
