Ride starts PROMPTLY at 11:57 PM and ends at 12:00 am (system won’t allow exact start/end times)
12:00 AM
Ride is a loop
End location: Ladd Circle
Perhaps the most joyous and the shortest of all rides, the Ding Ding Ride (usually led by the inimitable Armando Luna) celebrates bikes and their bells. Join fellow bike riders with a night cap and hat tip to Bike Summer/Pedalpalooza 2024 with three minutes of joy and bike bell ringing around Ladd Circle. (NOTE: Armando will not be available to lead and has given his blessing for me to lead the ride in his absence.) The ride is simple: Come to Ladd Circle in Southeast Portland, ride around three minutes while ringing your bell and then leave. The ride will begin promptly at 11:57 pm and end promptly at 12:00 am. This ride is a peaceful celebration of bike love. Please be kind to neighbors who may be resting, sleeping or getting ready for sleep. Please no loud music or noises…JUST acoustic BIKE BELLS! I want to also recognize that this expression of joy, love and fun is done on land that has been stolen from Native Peoples of this region through genocide, and that to this very day people around the world are suffering greatly under the same conditions because of the military-industrial complex of which cars and car infrastructure are products. So let us express our protest and love at once…And for three minutes. Free Palestine! And all oppressed Peoples of the world.
