Ride prompt at 4:00 it’s too cold to be stood around for an hour
End location: Downtown by the waterfront
(Family friendly ride. Please be mindful of smoking and passing through the group.) Over Winter Crows gather in massive numbers in downtown Portland. Estimates range from 40-70,000 Crows. We will ride from Laurelhurst promptly no later than 4:00pm. Following the known path of huge flocks of these Gorgous creatures. We head to the end spot to see them arriving. It will be Waterfront park where we can witness huge flocks one after another approaching from the East. Crow costumes and black clothing. This is a massive yearly family reunion. Yearling birds will be doing acrobatics as they approach…the songs of recognition and rejoicing will be resounding…. The incredible numbers of these intelligent, social and community oriented animals will be almost overwhelming….then it becomes quiet and the chill and darkness of the night rises and only the soft coos here and there can be heard. Route: we head west to the waterfront on a simple mostly downhill route. A short ride through downtown before returning to waterfront park for the end. Slow roll. Probably not a store stop on this ride, come prepared. Ride isn’t a loop. We practice consent and non-violence on all our rides. Banned riders are banned here too. We follow the shift code of conduct.
