Time details Meet at 6:30pm for learning, ride at ~7

    End time 8:30 PM

End location End location: A park about 1 mile from Colonel Summers

Black and Pink Portland is a locally based queer and trans based prison aboliton group that fights for the liberation of 2SLGBTQI+ and HIV/AIDS+ incarcerated people in Oregon. Join us for a masked ride to learn about this work and get matched with an incarcerated pen pal or write postcards to one of our several hundred contacts! If you already have a pen-pal you can choose to use the time to write to your own pen-pal(s). Meet us at Colonel Summers Park to learn about prison abolition and the central role letter writing plays in combating the isolation and dehumanization of 2SLGBTQI+ incarcerated people. After some learning, we’ll take a gentle 5 mile neighborhood roll and return to a nearby stop. At our park stop, there’ll be time to get matched with an incarcerated pen-pal and/or write post-cards! We’ll be providing all the materials and resources you need to get started- no experience is necessary! BYO stamps if you’d like to make a contribution. Signs, decorations and spirited energy is encouraged! *Masks required to keep our event accessible* Although you must be 18+ to be matched with a pen-pal, children and teens are welcome to join for the ride and/or can write postcards. We’ll have coloring pages and some art supplies to keep little hands busy during the letter writing portion of the event as well. Access info: We’ll be taking a mostly flat, slow-paced ride through low traffic streets in SE. All levels of experience and kinds of wheels are welcomed. Masks are required (we'll have extras and make sure there's space to take breaks and drink water) and we ask that if you have any cold symptoms and/or a positive COVID test result you please skip this event. Email us with 48 hours notice at blackandpinkpdx@gmail.com if you’re unable to join for the biking but would like to meet us at our stops via car or bus. We’d love to see you! You can follow our work on instagram @blackandpinkpdx or sign up for a penpal on your own time at bit.ly/PenPalMatch
