Snack and swim at Sugarpine Drive-In
Bureau of John Russell
Fri, Aug 4, 2023, 11:30 AM
Meet at 11:30, ride at the (back)stroke of noon.
End location: Sugarpine Drive-In, Troutdale
This summer, Live Freeways returns to Oregon for a ride to swim in the Sandy River and snack at Sugarpine Drive-In, followed with an evening at downtown Troutdale’s First Friday Art Walk! Please pack a swimsuit, towel, sunscreen, and money for snacks at Sugarpine, but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Meet at 11:30, ride at the (back)stroke of noon. To get in the swimming spirit, we’ll start at the completely dry Sabin HydroPark near NE 19th & Skidmore. While our ride will be entirely above water, we’ll cycle along geological features that were once inundated by the massive Missoula Floods, exploring a few bike paths en route to the main portion of the ride, which includes a few miles legally cycling along the shoulder of I-84 out to the west end of the Columbia River Gorge and along the start of the Historic Columbia River Highway (HCRH). Crossing the Sandy River back into Troutdale, we’ll stop at Sugarpine Drive-In for food and drinks before/after a swim at nearby Glenn Otto Park. See Facebook Event for more information and to RSVP.
