Gather at 6:30, ride at 7 pm.
End location: Ending at Salmon Springs Fountain.
Trigger warning: this ride will have sensitive and honest discussion among friends about Aaron's suicide from last year and the feelings we have gone through since then. Aaron's birthday was July 7th. This year we will ride to remember Aaron on Saturday, July 8th because Food Not Bombs will be occurring and this was an important aspect of Aaron's activism in his later years. The plan is to gather at 6:30 pm at Buckman playground south of the school building. We will ride out at 7:00. Ride south to Salmon street. Turn onto Salmon, navigate to the Eastbank Esplanade. Ride north to Steele Bridge. Cross the river, ride to ODOT. We will have a moment of silence (~5 minutes) at ODOT in memory of Aaron's final protest and last act. Ride to Salmon Springs Fountain and wash off in the water. Continue riding south to Tilikum Bridge, cross the river and navigate to Ladd's circle for a closing ceremony. Share stories about knowing Aaron, and on themes that were dear to Aaron: minimalism, veganism, bike riding advocacy, growing food, climate science, ending capitalism... While we're at it, we may save the world, at least a little bit. Another theme present will be raising our awareness of community mental health, as it relates to Aaron's death.
