"No Straight Lines tells the story of five scrappy and pioneering cartoonists who depicted everything from the AIDS crisis, coming out, and same-sex marriage, to themes of race, gender, and disability." This extremely good documentary, which features several Portlanders, is screening outside comics shop Books With Pictures (just off Ladd's Addition). A collaborative comics-making activity will take start at 7:30pmish and the one-hour movie will begin between 8-9pm, whenever it is dark enough to see the screen. Bring your drawing supplies and sketchbooks! The film includes drawings of genitalia and honest discussions of sexuality. Personally, I would recommend it for ages 14+. Feel free to read more about the movie and watch the trailer here: https://nostraightlinesthefilm.com/ This event is sponsored by the Oregon Cartoon Project.
