Meet 7ish. Ride 8 ish.
Find your bike Every Friday Night. We meet at Ladds circle, in the circle. If it is raining, head down to the covered area of Abernethy Elementary School. Ride slowly meets at 7 pm and departs roughly at 7:45/8ish pm. An honorary 3 minutes of Ladd laps (Ding Ding Ride/Ladd500) and then we send it. Sometimes we have guest ride leaders. Friday Night Rides are different every time. Sometimes we go to other rides happening around town during the summer. End of ride fires/good vibes/respect/no jerks/ We are a community. Respect each other! No aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Violations against the code of conduct will be reported to shift2bikes. If you ride Sur-Ron/powerful electric bikes this is not the ride for you. You can come but you might be heckled. This is a bicycle ride. Bring lights/locks/responsible vibes/a cup/ Casual pace with some extra zip 10-20ish mile rides with store stops/park stops/art stops NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Be careful of slippery roads/leafs on ground/pot holes. Call out road hazards to help bike friends stay safe. 1st Friday is bottle share night. (bottle of wine/crazy beer/kombucha/coconut water/fizzy waters/anything you like to drink/want to share) 2nd Fridays are MMR - later night vibes to make it to Midnight Mystery Ride. If you want to lead a ride just ask! REPEAT… NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Guest ride leaders wanted and appreciated! Instagram @fridaynightride

Three meeting points: 1. SE Clinton St/41st Ave at 10 am; 2. SE Clinton St/26 Ave at 10:10 am; 3. Tilikum Bridge at PDX Opera ~10:30 am; leaving from Tilikum location ~10:35 am
11:00 AM
End location: PSU’s Fariborz Maseeh Hall at SW Broadway and Harrison
An all-ages/all-abilities ride from SE PDX to the PSU Farmers Market to help support local farmers, bakers and makers of all kinds. This is a great opportunity to meet and develop community in a relaxed, informal setting. A post-ride adventure that is only loosely planned beforehand sometimes follows. Riders are welcome to leave at any point during or after reaching the farmers market. UPDATE 9-15-2024: Four years we’ve ridden together to the market to support farmers and artisans. This was always about community. For nearly one year Israel has been murdering Palestinians with full support of the USA and our tax dollars. And for the past six months my advocacy has been refocused on the fight for liberation. Through my associations with nonprofits like The Street Trust (TST) & Bike Loud PDX I urged that leadership make statements against genocide. At the TST, this led to the revelation that monies of this nonprofit were invested in Black Rock (which TST says it has now divested from). However, at both nonprofits there is largely silence and handwringing. So, for the past few months I have focused my efforts on my community members and acquaintances. I have urged that folks break their silence and do whatever they can to bring attention to the plight of the oppressed and subjugated. And, while my words have been received, I see no significant action in kind from the receivers. This has brought me to the conclusion that a group bike ride is a wonderful tool that *can* be used to bring about Justice but without intention to do so it can be a deluding force. After months of imploring those around me on these rides to raise their voices and to act and after being met with nothing more than nods, I have decided that as things currently stand, I must refocus my efforts. We cannot continue our lives as if these are normal times. I will continue to support local farmers, artisans & businesses - especially those who show solidarity with the oppressed Peoples of the world. And I urge other folks do so as well. The struggle for Justice & collective liberation requires all of our efforts. This is a new beginning in the timeless & endless path of the struggle for Justice. We must look deep within ourselves to find that path. Perhaps one day our paths will cross again.

Ride bikes to bars named “inn,” or which are in inns, by way of in-between spaces, on a day in between the two major winter holidays. Approximately 13 miles, not a loop. The ride is free, but bring money for drinks and food. If you want to join at a mid-route stop, please contact me to coordinate. Stops at: * Reel M Inn * Pizza Schmizza (Downtown Value Inn) * Goose Hollow Inn Route map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49246822 If you want food at Reel M Inn, arrive early! (Whatever you're thinking, probably make it an hour earlier 😅) If you also want to attend the "Holidays on Franklin St" ride in the evening, we should be finished with enough time to make it. There will be good opportunities to peel off and ride/take the MAX there. Plan to ride in moderate weather; in the event of particularly crummy weather I may reschedule or cancel. End location: Alder Commons (4212 NE Prescott St)
'tis the season when lots of folks buy lots of shit and support lots of billionaires. Well, if you wanna buck the status quo and still partake of the gift giving part of the season, I recommend this market. Dubbed as "a winter market for ppl who hate capitalism but love bikes" this market is a warm hug to our local craftspeople and middle finger to the likes of Jeff Bozo. Even more importantly, our support will benefit people in Palestine, Sudan and the Congo who are suffering unspeakable horrors at the hands of colonialist overlords throughout the world. Let's ride together to support our community in Portland and our human family around the globe! General route: Gather at Ladd's Circle (by Floyd's) -- ride north via Blumenauer Bridge -- make a second stop at Irving Park (under the covered basketball courts) -- ride up to Going and then east to Alder Commons for the market. #FreePalestine #PDXMarketRides

Vancouver version of Peacock Lane with live snowfall
Tom Howe
Sat, Dec 14, 2024, 5:30 PM
Ride leaves North end of MAX station at 6pm after arrival of 5:55 pm train. If riding MAX plan arrival on the 5:55 train or the one earlier.
Ride is a loop
End location: Ride ends back at Expo Center MAX Station
Franklin Street is Vancouver's version of Peacock Lane where all of the houses have holiday decorations, this year with over 200,000 lights. There is also live entertainment, and on the evening of this bike ride there will be live snowfall thanks to snow-generating machines. The ride meets at the Expo Center MAX station, which is the final stop on the MAX Yellow Line. A dedicated bike path starts at that station and goes all the way to Vancouver over the I-5 bridge. In downtown Vancouver we ride along Columbia Street, which was recently enhanced to make it very bike friendly. The street has buffered bike lanes with green bike boxes at each intersection. The buffer zone contains ZICLA-style lane separators, which are rubber-like curbs several feet long and several inches high. These in effect create a continuous curb with openings between the ZICLAS to allow exiting the bike lane when needed. Columbia Street has the most extensive use of ZICLA separators of any bikeway in the area. Franklin Street is only a couple blocks from Columbia Street, and other homes in the area have gotten into the act, so will see some highly-decorated houses on the way to Franklin. Total round trip distance for the ride from and back to the Expo Center MAX station is about 10 miles. This is a BikeLoud-affiliated event giving Portland residents an opportunity to see how Vancouver handles bike infrastructure on the city's premiere bikeway. Hope to see you on the ride!

Winter start time now in effect. We leave for 7:30 sharp
Ride is a loop
Mellow Mondays is a weekly THEMED ride, all year. All Wheels, All Riders, All Welcome. Each week there’s a different theme. This is a community orientated space for experienced and new ride leaders to try out ideas in a supportive environment. We can help with all aspects of ride planning and we’d love to hear your ideas. See news flash for the weeks theme and ride leader This is a safe space where we practice consent and non-violence. For consent practice we ask, even if you’re with your BFF we ask, you ask permission before touching them or their property and seek, listen and empower ‘no’. We practice non-violence specifically around car interactions and corking. These are our neighbors and we see them all the time so please be courteous and friendly, try and stay at least 4 ft from their bumper if corking. We ask for moderation on drinking and substances. This isn’t a sober ride, but it’s a safe space and moderation helps keep the atmosphere relaxed. Please report any issues directly to your ride leader and or Shift. We strongly recommend, RideSafe:PDX’s weekly Thursday ride for the welcoming queer/trans inclusion and community they’ve built. Always a special atmosphere. If you’re a banned rider you’re banned here too. We’ve no tolerance for bigotry, hate, and bullies.

Rolling 7:30
Let's roll from sun up to sun down to celebrate the beginning of Winter. This is the 4th annual! For summer solstice where we ride all night on the shortest night of the year. This ride is the inverse: ride all day on the shortest day. Optional later start at coffee/breakfast stop at around 8:30. Location: Our Spot PDX @1816 S River Dr, Portland, OR 97201 Aim is to warm/fuel up and roll out from here no later than 9. Be ready for winter weather (forecast suggests rain)! This is a long format ride. Come prepared with rain gear, layers, lights, snacks & water. Ride will include at least one store stop and one coffee stop, other stops will seek cover. Ride will end at a warm establishment for drinks/food (I will plan for a few different end spots based on pace of ride/severity of weather). Route details: Route options go from 26-35mi tbd based on weather, 2.5-3k' climb! Solstice/Equinox rides aim to be challenging/adventurous and aim to test gear and rider endurance. Leader invites riders to prepare their bikes for the upcoming season. Expect the route to contain "funny business," i.e. trail/gravel, exploration of areas that may not generally considered bike routes, and potential hike-a-bike sections. No drop mentality, the group will stop for mechanicals etc. However, please be prepared to ride at around 12-15mph to keep up. Contact: 7one4 6two3 43two4

Ride is a loop
Come on a daylight ride to see holiday decorations in the Alameda area. This will include the Chris Willis display of 400 molded Santa figurines that moves to a new Portland location every year. This ride takes place in daylight, as not everyone is comfortable riding after dark. The ride goes out as far as the Rose City Golf Course, where the Bar & Grill makes for a great mid-ride stop before looping back to Irving Park. The Bar & Grill makes fantastic fries, and we are providing them free to everyone on the ride. The route to the golf course is 4.5 miles, and total ride distance for the loop is 9.4 miles. This is a BikeLoud PDX affiliated ride so we'll go by some recently-installed bike infrastructure. This includes the improved crossing at NE 57th, the northern end of the 70s Greenway, and the crossing of the NE Hancock Greenway across Sandy Blvd. Hope to see you on the ride!
