End location: Clinton Street Theater
You're invited to join us for a whimsical and enchanting group bike ride inspired by the iconic film Grey Gardens. The ride will end at Clinton Street Theater, for a 7 pm showing of Grey Gardens (please buy your tickets online in advance to ensure availability). Channel your inner Edith and Little Edie as we ride through some scenic areas of Portland, with a pop-in for the Ding! Ding! Ride before heading to the theater. Don your best costume for the day - one that would make Little Edie proud! Prizes! "This is the best thing to wear for today, you understand. Because I don't like women in skirts and the best thing is to wear pantyhose or some pants under a short skirt, I think. Then you have the pants under the skirt, and then you can pull the stockings up over the pants, underneath the skirt. And you can always take off the skirt and use it as a cape. So I think this is the best costume for today... " "But you see in dealing with me, the relatives didn't know that they were dealing with a staunch character and I tell you if there's anything worse than dealing with a staunch woman... S-T-A-U-N-C-H. There's nothing worse, I'm telling you. They don't weaken, no matter what."

At midnight, we ride!
This ride happens on the 2nd Friday of EVERY month, no matter the weather. Each month we have a new ride leader taking us to a mystery destination. From this month's ride leader about the ride: "Not a lot of climbing... but there is some rough road/light trail riding. Road bikes are fine - but good lights for the off-road part may necessary. Not a short ride, closer to 10miles. But a rad route!"

meet up location has change- now meeting at Foster Powell community garden Join us for our 15th annual Foster-Powell Garden Tour! As always, it's free and family-friendly. Gardens on the tour have a variety of aesthetics and are guaranteed to provide inspiration. It's also a great way to get out and meet your neighbors and pick up some gardening info (even if you don't have a green thumb, like myself). This will be a lovely short little ride where we will just ride together from house to house, short distance covered overall. we'll stop for 10-15 minutes per house to enjoy the garden and chat with the gardener (many of these people have spent countless hours over the years transforming their outdoor spaces!). Bring water/snacks/sunscreen & we'll going to stop mid route at Essex park for their bathroom. Ride is a loop
TV Hwy sucks to ride on even though it has a “bike lane” and is home to many businesses and housing areas where you might want to travel. This ride is a loop that will focus on 2 routes which parallel TV Hwy from Hillsboro to Beaverton but traverse lighter traveled streets and even take advantage of some much better separated bike infrastructure. Warning: though these routes are better than riding the side of TV Hwy that is a very low bar. This ride will include multiple occasions where we will have to take the lane and/or ride on the sidewalk, cross side streets without signals, and we will cross TV Hwy twice (both at traffic lights but still) as such this is not a kid friendly ride. I don't want to scare everyone off, but I do want to make sure you know what you are signing up for. Meet in the parking lot of Tualatin Hills Nature Park in Beaverton, this ride is a loop. Both the Beaverton Creek and Merlo Rd Max blue line stops are nearby for easy access from further away. Rough estimates put this ride at approx. 16mi, though if you get tired and need to drop we won't ever be far from bus line 57.

Looking for a reason to dust off your bike trailer? Curious what it’s like toting the under-five crowd around town? Wondering how you can incorporate biking into your daily life? Or are you just plain looking for other biking with babies people? (This is also a great ride to make sure your rig is set up for the next day's Sunday Parkways in NE). Join other new parents for a slow and intentional ride around the greenways in NE. We’ll stick to slow streets with fewer bumps on them to get used to toting our new precious cargo around. We'll end back at Irving Park near the playground. Meet at Irving Park by the bathrooms at 2 pm. Babies don't wait, so we'll roll out at 2:15. There are benches next to the bathrooms if you need to nurse or change diapers before the ride.

Have you ever wanted the fun of a party ride while exploring parts of Portland you’ve maybe never seen before? Well then this ride is for you! With a shared music playlist and plenty of refreshment and rest stops, we'll be traveling 31.8 miles (just a smidge longer than half a metric century!) carefully planned to balance accessibility and challenge. This will be a no drop ride, with many regroup points, and the group pace set to empower anyone up for the challenge to ride in company! Plus the whole route is within bailout distance for Trimet service! Only one longish hill, and less than two miles of mild unpaved path! If the event photo looks exciting there's also an optional bounus for some riders to split off and explore at around the half way point while the rest of us take a break. We’ll be looping around to a beautiful end spot with room for people to hang out for as long as they like. Print map available at ride start, thoughtfully ridden E-bikes welcome, all humans celebrated, be kind and chill to everyone or we will be neither kind nor chill to you. Watch this space for the playlist link once your leaders finish cooking it!

We'll likely make a mid-ride stop at Peninsula Park to play a quick game among the roses, because there can never be enough cribbage. Don't know how to play the world's greatest game? No worries! We'll have our resident crib champion there to teach you! This ride is in it's *5th year* and we have yet to see the elusive 29 point hand. Will you be the one to make history?! If you do, I'll get your initials and the date tattooed on my body to honor your accomplishment in perpetuity! (I'm like 90% serious about this...). rescheduled too Monday 17th. Bring your ideas
NakedHearts:PDX (Moorland lead)
Sat, Jun 15, 2024, 7:00 PM
More of a meeting from 7:00-8:00….
Your Hosts are Moorland and other NakedHearts:PDX ride leaders. Please treat this as the start of a conversation that we’re happy to keep having to encourage you to bring your creativity to the bike community. What can you expect? Theme: we’re going to share advice on how to lead a ride. We will go over basics such as route, stops, themes, traffic interactions and safety. How to build a themed, social or party ride. Playlist selection, activities at stops. How to interact with security or Police? And aspects that are more nuanced. We will also cover the foundational and challenging aspects of trusting yourself, being vulnerable by revealing your niche interests and the anxieties that arise and how to find the medicine to these things in the ride itself. Bring your ideas, bring your creativity and we will try and make those part of the ride itself, as well as having people try leading the ride (with support and encouragement). During Pedalpalooza we have several slots set aside for new ride leaders to lead and be fully supported from creation of a ride to the ride itself. Please reach out as soon as possible because these fill quickly. Who are your ride leaders? Moorland: this is me writing this so….I’ve challenged myself into embracing the fear and anxieties around being around people and also expressing my creativity. I can speak to the fear and challenges of ride leading and I can also promise the rewards and gifts it can bring to the heart and our experience are beyond what we can anticipate. I also lead a lot of rides, like a crazy amount, including, what remains the most beautiful ride I’ve experienced, ‘The Opera ride’ I co-lead with Amy ‘Joy’, which was a profoundly serene ride. I also run NakedHearts:PDX and support as many ride leaders as I can. Who are you? You’re you. This is your ride and you belong here. You get to come as you are and maybe you don’t want to lead a ride but just hang out, maybe you want to lead a ride but will feel to nervous to say anything on this ride or maybe to even come to it, that’s ok, you can contact us or speak with us at another ride. Maybe, you’re over flowing with ideas and want help manifesting them and making them happen…. Or maybe you’ve got the desire to lead but struggle with ideas…. We can talk about all the different ways too approach making what you want happen in this space and afterwards.

Kidical Mass PDX
Sun, Jun 16, 2024, 11:45 AM
Meet at 11:40 am, Announcements at 11:50, Ride at 11:55 sharp
2:45 PM
Ride is a loop
End location: Fernhill Park after 3 miles, or make it a loop with us
Ride bikes together with Kidical Mass PDX from Irving Park to the Northeast Cully Sunday Parkways open streets event. Sunday Parkways provides a car-free open streets celebration. Ride bike together with us to make it fun! This is a slow ride, paced for kids on bikes and parents on cargo bikes. At 11:45am we’ll ride 3 miles from Irving Park playground to Sunday Parkways route and down to Fernhill Park, where there will be food vendors, water and restrooms. We should arrive at about 12:35. After a break there from 12:35pm to 1:15pm for lunch, you can also join us if you want to ride the rest of the Sunday Parkways route together, 6 miles total with a couple of stops on the way at K Park and Wellington Park, or you can enjoy the car-free streets at your own pace. If you do the whole loop and go back to Irving Park, it will be 11 miles total. The first 1.5 miles is gradually uphill. Then after Fernhill park there are 2 more gradually hills on the way to Wellington park, with some gradual downhill sections in between. We should finish the Sunday Parkways route around 3:45 pm and be back at Irving park by 4:15 pm This will be suitable for school-age bike riders who can pedal their own bike uphill in a straight line. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line without training wheels, start and stop, and follow instructions. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for younger or less confident kids, or in case kids get tired of pedaling. Adults without kids can also join the ride as corkers to help with traffic safety. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too! Sun, Jun 16, 2024, 1:00 PM
Meet at 1pm, rules at 1:15pm, clock at 1:30pm sharp
Ride is a loop
Chase Portland's tiny joys and tiny libraries on two wheels in a rip roaring alley cat extravaganza. Like all good alley cats, there will be prizes. There will be no proscribed route. There will be minimal clues. There will be glory. * Teams up to 3 are permitted if one is a parent and another is an offspring. Queer/non-traditional families welcome. * E-bikes will be credited 50% of their total points. Cahmon you've got a motor. * Onewheel/Motorized Unicycles/E-wheels are not eligible for prizes. You're...well, you're not a bike. Ride starts and ends at the same bar. Find us lathering sunscreen on the porch. Scoring closes at 3:45pm sharp. --- For the soon informed, an alley cat is a scavenger hunt/race by bike. You receive a series of clues or tasks or addresses and a minimal map, then you ride the city to solve each. Scoring is individual and varies by fastest time or by clues solved or by difficulty of clue. It is a great tradition.

Mon, Jun 17, 2024, 6:00 PM
riding by 6:30
8:00 PM
End location: In or near Multnomah Village, an easy 2 miles from the start.
It's easy to navigate southwest by bike once you know how far up or down you need to go on which hill. Tour some of our unfinished bikeways and missing connections with an outside-the-box look at the terrain, "paper streets", trails, and stairs. See how auto traffic has ruined all of the flat and direct routes and find a few precious places cars haven't taken over. We'll see one or two of the very rare parks with restrooms, and various transportation projects/issues, while generally avoiding most uphills and car traffic. If you don't turn when I turn, you may get lost. (We will see, but not ride the stairs or most trails.) Gather at 6:00 at Fulton Park, ride at 6:30, finish around 8. 12-ish mile loop, if we see it all, but you can bail near the start from several points in the middle. This will not be a fast or hard ride and nobody will be left behind. Note: sunset is shortly after the end. We'll try to cover at least 6-8 miles and may pause at food carts/beer or just stop at a store and finish the whole loop. Kids are welcome but will need to be passenger/stoker unless they are capable riding around traffic, okay with climbing, and can handle ~12mph comfortably. Contact enobacon at gmail dot com with questions.

Mon, Jun 17, 2024, 6:00 PM
7:00 PM
This isn't a bike ride! Whaa?? It's a community-led online political event dedicated to getting a city with more bike fun. Here's the big idea: $5 from you to each of 4 great candidates. In one hour, we in the biking movement can unlock $20,000 for a better city. Portland's new election system gives power to the people. For one hour, Kiel, Michael, Maureen, and Meghan are hosting a short online conversation with four great people-powered city council candidates, one from each district, who we're confident deserve a spot in your top three in November. We hope you'll join, hear from each of them about their housing and transportation policies, submit a question or two, and agree with us to give $5 to each. With the power of Portland's public campaign financing, we can raise a total of $20,000 for them to keep spreading their bike-friendly, pro-housing messages. That's enough to give all these candidates a huge burst of momentum -- and to make a big political splash on behalf of equitable transportation, abundant housing, and a city for everyone. The candidates are: Timur Ender in District 1 (East), Marnie Glickman in District 2 (Northeast), Angelita Morillo in District 3 (Southeast), and Chad Lykins in District 4 (West). (There are other good candidates in every district! If this goes well, there might be another with different candidates!) All lovers of bikes and/or homes are welcome! Hope you can join.

Mon, Jun 17, 2024, 6:15 PM
Leave at 6:30 so we don't miss the sunset!
End location: Rocky Butte
Update: August ride moved to September so as not to compete with other fun rides and still be on a Thursday! Bring your picnic'in supplies and let's ride to and picnic at the best view point in the city! This is an annual ride that happens every month in the summer and has been going on for about 15 years. Bring food to share if you'd like. We'll have a short stop near a Plaid Pantry on the way. I'll have my speaker/trailer for music. We won't have any crazy bass DJs at the top this year so that we can focus on a nice quiet picnic experience. But once it gets dark we will have a little dance sesh! This is a safe space where we practice consent and non-violence. This ride follows the SHIFT code of conduct, and if you’re a banned from posting there, you're banned here, too. We have no tolerance for bigotry, hatred, and bullies.

Meet for 7:00 and ride for 7:30ish
Ride is a loop
What can you expect? Theme: A collection of songs from around the World and genres and decades. The main element is this music is to open the heart, bring ease to conversations, and let beautiful female voices drift over our city punctuated by our bells, laughter and soft toned speech. Route: This will be a very gentle ride. We will keep the pace slow, avoid hills and mostly be on Greenways (maybe I can even avoid going through parking garages…..I’m obsessed so it’ll happen still….but it’ll be The St Joseph’s M?ori girls choir resonating under the Lloyd center). Ride etiquette: Stay behind your ride leader (freak/fixie bikes roll how you need), Turn your lights too solid and dip them if you can. Male voices please limit shouting out turns loudly. Please keep smoking to the edges. Mellow Mondays rides are an ongoing ride for chilling with friends and welcoming new people to our community. Gift sharing is optional and small gifts such as snacks or stickers are just an easy way for us all to come together and get to know each other. We will have different ride leaders now and then but we all foster our community of joy and acceptance starting from a place of trust and safety. All of our rides are safe spaces and we foster a community of acceptance and mutual regard. Additional information: We strongly recommend any and all PDX:Unity rides and the warm/safe atmosphere they create for our marginalized communities. (We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes on N Williams, they’re a small community oriented business that have had some issues with vandalism recently. They’ve also got a stellar reputation and care about their work and us.)

Meet at 5:45ish, first round 6:15ish, and we'll roll out by about 6:30
End location: Inner east side
Let’s play BINGO! We’ll do a round or two at the start point, at stops along the way, and at the end where we’ll finish with a blackout round. We’ll have some prizes, but it would be great if everyone could bring a white-elephant style gift. This should be something you already have but don’t want, an item from a free box, or something along those lines. Please only bring vegan-friendly items (no animal products, including leather, feathers, meat, dairy, eggs, honey, etc.). Please join even if you don’t have anything for the prize table as there will be plenty. We've been collecting items just for this! If you have a dry-erase marker for yourself/extras to share, please bring them for marking off your Bingo cards. We'll have some to share but may not have enough if it's a big group. Thank you!

Meet at 5:15 pm, roll out at 5:45 pm (really!)
6:30 PM
End location: Mayfly is a community oriented taproom in North Portland (8350 N Fenwick Ave, right near the Denver Ave MAX Station). Craft beer, local wine, and good times.
Get ready to unwind with a post-work whip around the classic NoPo loop - approximately 15 miles through North Portland's greatest hits. You know the route: cruise the Crest along the Willamette Blvd, under the iconic St. John's Bridge, up the lonely stretch of Lombard, and sneak through the hushed industrial district after hours. Then, it's a car-free joyride along Kelley Point's extra-wide multi-use paths, past Smith & Bybee's serene wetlands, and the Columbia Slough trail by Heron Lakes and PIR. We even get a bonus mile of gravel (courtesy of the charmingly crumbling Slough trail path). This ride is tailor-made for those who fancy a slightly spicier pace. We'll meet at the Dog Bowl bluffs just off of N. Willamette Blvd and roll *promptly* at 5:45 pm (for realz). Afterward, convene at Mayfly Taphouse (8350 N Fenwick Ave, right next to the Denver Ave MAX Station) for a well-deserved post-ride beverage and general schmoozing. If this sounds like your kind of fun, let's turn Wednesdays into our regular NoPo night out.

Back for its 14th year, Get Lost! is a Pedalpalooza Bike Ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (odd total = R, even =L). We ride until we find a natural end point. Feel free to bail whenever you wanna go somewhere else. You never know what to expect. Since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. Probably not a loop, but that's what we said the first year, and we (eerily) ended up in the exact place we started! Read about that year's ride here: http://bit.ly/2qY2TmQ

Come along and sing to well known songs. Submit your song requests to Moorland or volunteers before the start or at any of the refreshment stops we will make. We will have a big sound system, disco lights..maybe even a fog machine. We have karaoke at our stops and sing-a-long songs as we ride. This ride was one of the highlights of our 2022 rides, and happy for it to be making a return. The ride will be slow paced and a loop. We usually have spare tubes/pump and basic tools just incase. "You never forget your first Camaro.” Am I right? Who else, fell in into the hole that was Love Lies Bleeding and never wanted to get out? Well ya’ll it’s time to relive that dark, gritty magic. Think tanning oil, cigarettes, bugs, 80’s gym attire, mega muscles, queers, sweaty bodies, all set to the 80’s soundtrack of your dreams. The ride will meet at 5:30pm at Prism Moves - Portland’s own queer-owned gym. Expect to stop for body oiling breaks and a body building competition - start brushing up on your poses! The ride will end at Bye and Bye on Alberta for drinks, bites and socializing. Help us set the vibe; dress to the 1989s in your throw back gym clothes, bring weights if you want to keep your muscles toned for the competition, or go the Kristen Stewart route; scrawny, sweaty, grungy and undeniably sexy. Let’s make Rose Glass proud ya’ll and remember… “don’t fall in love, okay? It hurts.” P.S. - Prism Moves fell upon hard times during the pandemic, it would mean a lot to them and to us if you donated a couple dollars to ensure this inclusive gym stays open for a good long time. Donate at https://www.gofundme.com/f/prism-moves-acp, thanks! Prism Moves Prism Moves was created to fill service gaps in the fitness industry, which historically centers white, thin, cis, heteronormative individuals and rarely makes room for those that do not fit this description, thereby creating a lack of health equity. Women, BIPOC individuals, LGBTQIA2+ individuals, larger-bodied humans rarely have access to fitness spaces that accommodate them and make them feel welcome. We offer free and sliding scale memberships and partner with nonprofits that serve similar populations.

Rolling at 8
Spinning from sunset to sunrise for summer solstice! The shortest night of the year rolls us into a new season. The Subsolar point becomes most northern at 1:50pm (Solstice O'Clock). Rolling for the usual on my 4th lead of the June ride! ALL NIGHT. Solstice/Equinox rides aims to cover ground and be adventurous to test gear and challenge rider endurance! Take this as you will. My aim is to take you to places you may have never been. Pace is swift but with stops and regroups. Can't guarantee no drops because it's long format, you are the best judge of your abilities and energy level. Discuss exit point(s) with ride leader or fellow riders if you need to bail but are unsure. Otherwise, expect to stick with the group until the sun comes up! Route details: around 60 miles, just under 3000ft climb (8xMt.Tabor for comparison/perspective). We have ALL NIGHT, i.e. around 9h ride duration (so something like 6h in the saddle and 3h breaks). Be prepared to ride 10-15mph (depending on segment). Caution: contains "funny business," i.e. trail/gravel, non bike routes, and potential hike-a-bike sections. No drop mentality, the group will stop for mechanicals etc. Come prepared! Layers (cool temps and potential overgrown paths), lights, xtra charge, food, water, bug spray are clever. Bring what you need yet pack light. At least one proper store stop and 24/7. Leave no trace. Ready your bikes for the upcoming season (check your breaks/tires/grease chains)! Look for long format day rides quarterly for all seasonal shifts. ->Fall Equinox->Winter Solstice->Spring Equinox-> Feel free to reach out with questions.

End location: Staurday: Revolutions Bookshop (8713 N Lombard St)
These two bike rides will be led by Tom Murray, who is himself an owner of a bookstore in Hood River (Artifacts Books). On Saturday (June 22nd, 12 o'clock) we will begin our ride at Microcosm Bookstore and end our ride at Revolutions Bookshop, in St. Johns; and on Sunday (June 23rd, 12 o'clock) we will begin our ride at Broadway Books and end our ride at Wallace Books, in Sellwood. If all things go well, you will have the chance to discover, in the course of 3 - 4 hours, as many as 16 bookstores that are scattered across the east side of the river, in basements, alleyways and on boulevards. For that reason, we will not linger at any bookstore for more than 5 minutes. We hope to see you then.

Portland might be famous for its MAX trains and Tillikum Crossing these days, but back at the turn of the 20th Century Portland, like most American cities, had an extensive streetcar network which fueled development of neighborhoods far from the city center. Commercial development followed the streetcar, creating many of the walkable neighborhoods we love today. Portland abandoned and paved over its streetcar tracks in the years after World War II, but here and there you can see tracks trying to peak up from below, reminding us of a time before cars commandeered our roads and good public transit was considered the height of fashion and technology and essential to any decent city. Learn more about the history of the streetcar in Northeast Portland, and its long lasting impact on development and transit in Northeast Portland. This 10 mile loop ride will include stops showing different pieces of the network. This educational ride will be family friendly and all are welcome.

Shady ride on Leif Erikson Trail in Forest Park. One of Portland's true gems, this ride will be reasonably cool and pleasant even if the air temperature is 100 degrees. (We've done it several times). Forest Park was saved from developers in the 1950s and 60s. We'll celebrate Portland's activists heroes that brought us this park, and protest the lack of greenspace elsewhere in the city. Many people can ride this with skinny tire bikes, it's a well maintained gravel road. We'll do a 30 minute snack stop at a nice shade spot on the trail. Ends at Pittsburg Beach, a secluded swimming beach just upriver from Cathedral Park

End location: The Fields Park
Celebrate the 16h anniversary of Kidical Mass PDX with a bike ride downtown to get frozen yogurt! This family-friendly, kid-paced bike ride first happened in June 2008 on a route downtown similar to this one. This year we’ll ride from The Fields park in NW Portland to Director Park, where we can get self-serve frozen yogurt with topping at Tartberry, a local shop. The ride is free, but bring money for yogurt. Meet at 2:15pm, ride at 2:30pm. The ride is a loop, 3.5 miles total, with a 30 minute break at the park and yogurt shop after 1.5 miles, so it is suitable for most young bike riders who can pedal their own bike without training wheels. We should be back to the start by 4:15 pm. We ride at a moderate pace for little pedalers and parents on cargo bikes. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to balance and pedal in a straight line, start and stop. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who haven’t learned to pedal. Adult corkers are welcome to join as a traffic safety superheroes. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too! Route map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46407664
