11-3 no early birds please
Alright people, I'm doing another big bike parts yard sale! Cleaning out the storage unit and thinning out the spare parts! I got a ton of good stuff for sale cheap! Most of it at garage sale prices! Most of the rest still pretty cheap! Only a little bit of it at swap meet prices. Almost nothing at craigslist or marketplace prices. Like maybe 1 thing at eBay prices! Huge free pile too! We're talking next Saturday morning! June 1st! We're talking 11am to 3pm or later if people keep showing up and wanting to hang out! Right next to Creston school/park on the corner of SE Bush and 49th. Can't miss it! No early birds I need time to set up, sheesh! Unless, you want to set up and sell stuff too, then show up early! I've got several nice old frames from 49cm-62cm, several nice old wheel sets, tons of bars and stems and seatpost and brakes and levers and tires and racks and bags and all sorts of bobs and bits! Most of this stuff needs to go away so I'll be taking offers on my already super cheap prices! Hey bike friends!?!?! 😎 😁 There's plenty of space so if you know me and want to drag a few loads of your junk down too and sell it swap meet style feel free! We'll probably order Domino's or something! It will be great! I got a boom box and a bunch of CDs so we'll probably be listening to music, like the best of the Beach Boys, or Bangles, or Iron Maiden or something fun, or Black Flag. IDK we'll see where the mood takes us!

Join Ride Westside as we explore public art in Beaverton, Oregon. The Beaverton Arts Commission recently put out a handy map pointing out art landmarks of interest in Central Beaverton, so let’s check it out on our bikes, be moved by the stories behind the art, and then all have lunch together in the car-free plaza on SW 1st Avenue. We’ll meet at 11:30 AM. Ride at Noon and then meet up with the ride to the Pedalpalooza kick-off (with time for lunch). The ride will be a social family-friendly pace, with time for some guided explanation of the artwork. All types of micromobility are invited to Ride Westside with us! Link to Map: https://apps2.beavertonoregon.gov/secure/mayor/Arts/publicArtTourMap.aspx Actual bike route will be very short, to save energy for other rides later this day.

Meet in Beaverton (after the Ride Westside Beaverton Arts Ride) and then wander with us down to Portland to join in the madness sure to ensue at the kickoff ride. Bring or be prepared to buy picnic snacks/drinks and we'll hang out for the afternoon. We are riding from outdoor seating for several local restaurants to a place with several local food trucks so you won't go hungry. I'll also bring Uno, others are welcome to bring card games or other fun activities that can be done in a conversation circle on the ground (table not guaranteed). The kickoff ride doesn't actually roll until 5ish but your ride leader wants to get there in time to get a pennant before they run out. FYI: the route will be pretty low traffic but there is a big climb up to the Zoo and then a major decent from the Zoo to downtown. No rush here, it's ok to climb slow. Make sure your brakes are in good working order.

Kidical Mass PDX
Sat, Jun 1, 2024, 3:00 PM
Meet at 3pm, Ride at 3:30pm sharp
4:00 PM
End location: North Park Blocks Playground
Ride bikes together with kids and families, from Laurelhurst Park to the North Park Blocks for the start of Pedalpalooza's Kick-Off ride! This is a slow ride, paced for kids on bikes and parents on cargo bikes. We’ll ride 3 miles from the meadow in Laurelhurst park between the bathrooms and the lake, to the playground to in the North Park Blocks in NW Portland at Park and Everett, which will be the start of the Pedalpalooza ride an hour later at 5pm. We will ride at 3:30pm and should arrive Downtown at about 4pm, so you have time pm to pick up t-shirts and pennants, while kids can use the playground or enjoy other activities. Then at 5pm you can also join us if you want to ride the whole route of the Kick-Off Ride , along with other families and kids at the front of the ride. @pedalpaloozapdx has asked us to ride right up front! That ride will be 4.7 miles long and has several hills, so younger kids may need to switch to a trailer or cargo bike with a grown-up. The kickoff ride will take us over the Broadway bridge, through the Lloyd District, and back up to Laurelhurst Park to finish a loop. While our ride is only 2.9 miles and almost all downhill (except for the Burnside bridge) and will be fine for K to 3th grade, if you do the whole loop along with the Kick-Off Ride it will be almost 9 miles total, so it would be appropriate for 5th grade plus, or younger kids who are strong fast confident riders, to ride their own bike the whole way. Our ride will be suitable for young bike riders who can pedal their own bike uphill in a straight line. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line without training wheels, start and stop, and follow instructions. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for younger or less confident kids, or in case kids get tired of pedaling. Adults without kids can also join the ride as corkers to help with traffic safety. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too!

Sun, Jun 2, 2024, 7:00 PM
Come along and sing to well known songs. Submit your song requests to Moorland or volunteers before the start or at any of the refreshment stops we will make. We will have a big sound system, disco lights..maybe even a fog machine. We have karaoke at our stops and sing-a-long songs as we ride. This ride was one of the highlights of our 2022 rides, and happy for it to be making a return. The ride will be slow paced and a loop. We usually have spare tubes/pump and basic tools just incase. We follow the shift code of conduct.

The wonderful and weird ride of serenity and silliness returns.
NakedHearts:PDX (Moorland leads)
Mon, Jun 3, 2024, 7:00 PM
Meet for 7:00pm and ride for 7:30pm
Ride is a loop
I’ve (Moorland) been loving this ride. It’s a ride where we listen to the songs of Whales as we ride. Yes, the actual songs of Whales. I can’t escape how weird it will be for people sat at home to suddenly hear us go by with the Songs blasting and thinking too themselves, ‘Is there a Whale outside WTF’. I also feel the trees and mycelium will love hearing their distant cousins of the Ocean sing. It might be like the Opera ride and sublimely beautiful, or we might all realize why we don’t usually listen to Whales singing for pleasure. Then when we stop we will Karaoke, normal songs but we sing like animals….meaning if you’re a chicken, ‘cluck cluck cluck squawk…click click squawkwkwkw’. This might be a little weird, but also, I love sharing my weird. Mellow Mondays rides are an ongoing ride for chilling with friends and welcoming new people to our community. Gift sharing is optional and small gifts such as snacks or stickers are just an easy way for us all to come together and get to know each other. We will have different ride leaders now and then but we all foster our community of joy and acceptance starting from a place of trust and safety. All of our rides are safe spaces and we foster a community of acceptance and mutual regard. Additional information: We strongly recommend any and all PDX:Unity rides and the warm/safe atmosphere they create for our marginalized communities. Also: Sabrina (From Fancy Mondays Picnic rides) is now hosting ‘Say Hi Sundays’ which is a ride encouraging community bonding and new friendships.

We are doing it! The first Wednesday of Bike Summer is a pop-up! It's not even a 10 mile ride so this will be a short ride that will end in downtown Portland. We will probably end at Salmon Springs so we can get a photo. We are a faster paced and more adventurous group ride with a no drop mentality. We will be riding the shoulder of the HIGHWAY. There are rumble strips. There can be debris. Like any of the rides we host go at your own pace and with what you are comfortable with. We will wait. Please bring lights, tubes, PMA, your bike, and fist bumps!

Let’s kick off this year’s Pedapalooza and Pride month with a fun, easy-going ride, hosted by Portland All Wheels Welcome (PAWW) and Ride Safe PDX! This ride is welcome to all skill levels and all kinds of wheels. Show us your pride and your favorite “I’m here and I’m queer,” outfit as we ride around to a playlist of pop hits by LGBTQIA+ artists. PLEASE NOTE: Masks are required and we’ll have some available to hand out for the ride, but please bring your own if you can! This ride is a loop. Difficulty is easy: mostly smooth roads with few unavoidable crunchy spots. There are slight uphill and downhill segments, but the route is mostly flat. If you’re skating on this ride, you should be comfortable with using your toe stops or otherwise controlling your speed. Starting at 6pm, we’ll meet near the skate ramp at Laurelhurst Park off of SE Oak St. As we gather, feel free to skate the ramp or try out the nearby pump track and bike obstacles. At 7pm, we’ll set out on our ride! Ride Safe PDX rides are always no-drop and will attempt to help riders with mechanical issues. The first Thursday of each month will be masks-required. This ride aims to be a safer space. We take the code of conduct seriously and do not allow harassment, violence, racism, bigotry, threats, or other actions that go against the code of conduct. Always ask for consent before touching another person or their belongings. If you experience or witness an issue, please alert a ride leader. Banned riders are banned here. Ride is a loop
This is the first of three rides sponsored by The Deaf Look Club, a subsidiary of Bridge City Montessori School, which is committed to bringing socially accessible events to the Deaf and disabled community. Responding to a need for communication-accessible bicycle rides, Deaf Look Club is proud to present three family-themed rides for Pedalpalooza! All rides will feature communication in spoken English and American Sign Language. The bicycling Deaf and disability community, their families, and their allies are all welcome! BCMS is a primary age Montessori school with a unique mission. It is the only program of its kind to use a multi-lingual oral/sign approach to teaching young students. Deaf kids and their hearing counterparts learn together as equals. We will meet at BCMS at 12pm. There will be a short introduction to BCMS programs and exciting plans to expand our services. Rides are about 2 hours long and will be a short and easy-going 3-5 miles. Our goal is to introduce the local Deaf community and their allies to safe and fun bicycling in the Foster Powell area. Chris Balduc will lead a route through the district, stop at key locations in the district, talk about the local infrastructure and give advice for those who wish to use bikes for transportation in urban Portland. This is a FREE Portland PedalPalooza event! There will be a ride each month. The first is June 8th, 12pm to 2pm. The second ride is July 13 - 12pm to 2pm. The third ride is August 10th - 12pm to 2pm. All rides start and end at the BCMS campus. Bring bikes, helmets, and water. BCMS will offer technical support. For more information contact Chris at chris.balduc@gmail.com

Sat, Jun 8, 2024, 2:00 PM
Meet at 2 pm, take off by 2:30 - beer minutes apply
4:00 PM
End location: Mock's Crest
Gate's open, come on in! This is an easy, breezy, beautiful NE ride with limited climbs. Bring a friend, make a friend, have fun What to Expect: Some very chill schoolyard games and Summer camp style activities. Inclusive to all ages and pet-friendly if your pets are friendly. We'll meet at 2 pm at Irving Park, takeoff by 2:30 but adhering to beer minutes. We will include at least 1 store stop, 1 park stop, and end at Mock's Crest to throw bikes and blankets down for some good ol' hang time. We encourage you to bring things like bubbles, chalk, hoops, jump-rope, bracelet-making supplies like beads or thread. This ride is a celebration of friendship. Last year we came, we saw, we made you play blob tag and you liked it enough that we figured we'd keep that ice breaker this year. This year - we will do the same but also include our community guideline expectations: Community Expectations: - Pack it in, pack it out - Nothing is friendlier than consent - if it's not a hell yeah, it's a fuck no. - Thank your corkers! (The nice folks who pull off at intersections to ensure cars let us safely pass). - This is an all ages ride. Now don't get me wrong, this girl loves nothing more than having her claws around a claw, but please be mindful of your limits. If you get rambunctious and are acting unsafe, the fun police (aka Me) are going to sit you down and give you one of those "I'm disappointed in you" talks which may end in my asking you to leave. - We love dogs! But not all dogs love bikes, kids, and car noises. If your dog (or cat, or ferret) are going to be stressed by the ride, leave that friend at home. For example, my own dog isn't allowed on this ride, cus he has something against children and men in hats having fun. Be mindful of your pet friend's feelings and needs. - - - SAFETY FIRST - - - - No bullying, hate-speech, or intimidation tolerated, period. I don't care if they're wearing Tevas and you're more of a Chacos person play nice or you will be asked to leave. (In all seriousness, all are welcome and all deserve to feel safe). - We adhere by the laws of the road, which includes yielding at stop signs when cars have the right of way. We will review basic bike hand signals and discuss further at the ride. - Do not try to fight the cars. You will not win, if anything you will potentially further anger the driver of said car who has the potential to seriously harm bystanders. If a car driver is being an absolute jerk, come grab a ride leader to handle the situation. - If a situation arises and you feel unsafe, please grab a ride leader.

Bikeloud PDX + Portland: Neighbors Welcome
Sat, Jun 8, 2024, 4:00 PM
Meet at 4:00, ride at 4:15
6:00 PM
Ride is a loop
Join Portland: Neighbors Welcome (P:NW) and BikeLoud PDX on a discussion-based bike ride to hear more about P:NW's 'Inner Eastside for All' campaign. The bike ride will be very conversational pace (newbies and families welcome!) and will include many stops exploring prominent locations to be discussed as part of this campaign. The "Inner Eastside for All" campaign looks to update Portland zoning code to allow a mix of housing types in one of Portland's most proximate and service-rich neighborhoods. The vision is simple: it should be legal for any residential lot from roughly 12th to 60th, Fremont to Powell, to contribute to a thriving, mixed-income, mixed-use fabric of urban neighborhoods by allowing street-scale apartment buildings. Three zip codes largely or entirely in the proposed area are in the top 10 in the country for bike commute mode share: 97215 is #10, 97212 is #8, and 97214 is #2! Portland's Inner Eastside is unique in the country (no other city has more than 1 zip code in the top 10, and Portland has 3!) in enabling people to cycle as their primary transportation. Allowing more people to live in these neighborhoods is essential to Portland meeting our climate and transportation goals!

The link at the bottom takes you too a video Jack Coleman (videographer) made from the last Opera ride. First: Do you need to like Opera? Not at all. If you’re open to music transforming the way a ride feels and how our city looks you’re in for a treat. What can you expect? Well, Opera. A carefully curated playlist. Moments of high drama and thrilling exaltation. Periods of such serenity as voices and music cascade around the city canyons consuming us in beauty and infrequently heard tones. The first time we held this ride (Amy ‘joy’ and Moorland) had no idea how profound a beautiful experience it would be or the depth of that beauty. Also, the playlist is interspersed with dialogue from the movie Casablanca just to give an underlying tonal theme. Route: We’re going to be rolling through city canyons so the acoustics reverberate. There will be a store stop for refreshments and while there the music will change to Rock Operas. The pace will be social and slow. Rebellion and punk shows in many forms, ask around about this insane ride and the previous years mischief! We troll hard!!! CHAOS!!!!!!!!!!!! Safety: As with all our rides, we practice consent and we practice non violence. You’re invited to come as you are and be who you are.

Ride is a loop
Come one! Come all! Come bikes big and small! Just got a basket? Or maybe nothing at all? Thats ok, friend- don't worry one bit Look see, it’s carrying YOU ain't it?!? Cargopalooza returns for its 3rd year, and this time we're on a mission... Our first 'palooz will take us to the one and only ~*Goodwill bins*~ where one can only hope that large objects will be carried away by bicycle. Feeling helpful? Want to use that old Burley trailer but don't really need to buy anything? Need to buy something big but don't have a cargo bike? I smell a cargo friendship beginning to bloom :') Come carry some stuff or just geek out on some cool cargo bikes! Meet outside Splendid Cycles at 8am, wheels rolling by 8:30 to arrive at “the bins” around 9. We'll hang, discuss front loaders vs long tails, take turns going in for a rummage while others can stay outside watch the bikes. Awards will be given (read: made up on the spot) for biggest / weirdest / most useful item found while bin-digging. Casual departure by ~10:30am to head back up the Springwater to Splendid Cycles (I gotta be at work by noon). As usual, this event is for cargo bikes AND the cargo-curious. Any and all bikes are welcome, from short to long and tall to small. Bring a good attitude or don't come at all.

Established in 2017, we ride once a month to enjoy what this city has to offer. Each month is led by a different CORVIDAE member, and therefore will be unique. We occasionally have themes or additional donations to different organizations. Additionally, host pop-up rides during the summer. We try to focus our rides on greenways, group etiquette, safety measures and general comradery. In addition to bike safety and accessibility, we want to promote using bicycles as an alternative to fossil fueled travel within Portland. This is a no-drop ride, but please bring your repair kit with a spare tube so we can keep the ride rolling. Please bring your own provisions; we’ll be stopping near stores, but not at them. Each member has an eye out for the crowd, will cork, sweep and be a general pillar of support. Ride pace is casual at around 10 miles with a few park stops. Ride around North Portland with Kidical Mass PDX! We will find all 3 bike bridges in Inner North Portland on this free, family-friendly, kid-paced bike ride We’ll ride from the Unthank Park playground to Peninsula Park on neighborhood greenways and quiet streets, including riding across the Failing Street bike bridge to the Overlook neighborhood, over Going on the corkscrew bridge, and back over on the Bryant Street bridge, while singing along to kid movie musical songs. Meet at 2:15pm, ride at 2:30pm. The ride is a loop, 3 miles one way, 4.9 miles total, with a 20 minute break at the playground after 3 miles, so it is suitable for most young bike riders who can pedal their own bike without training wheels. You can leave the ride at Peninsula park or ride with us back to the start; we should be back around 4 pm. We ride at a moderate pace for little pedalers and parents on cargo bikes. This ride is mostly flat but the first 2 bridges have a "hill". Kids should wear a helmet, be able to balance and pedal in a straight line, start and stop. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for kids who haven’t learned to pedal. Adult corkers are welcome to join as a traffic safety superheroes. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too!

Austin
Sun, Jun 9, 2024, 3:00 PM
Meet at 3, ride at 3:30
End location: Sellwood Park (up top, not riverfront)
Inspired by my similar ride from last year, this ride is meant to re-create your favorite Summer camp vibes. Let's ride bikes, play games, eat food, and make friends :D This is a leisurely ride from Colonel Summers park, around Ladd's Circle, and on to Sellwood Park for some summertime fun. Bring your favorite lawn games, picnic food, drinks, books, and other Summery leisure activities. If the weather is hot, we can head down to Sellwood Beach for a swim. Things to bring: - Lawn games - Picnic stuff - BBQ - Sunscreen - Sunnies - Swimmers - Music - Blankets - Towel - Chairs - Floaties - Squirt guns - Drinks - Books - Slip n' slide - Music/instruments - Bug spray This isn't technically a themed costume ride, but it's a great time to lean into those sweet childhood vibes. In fact, there's even a GoodWill bins ride in the morning if you need inspirations. There will potentially be a store stope at QFC if folks are interested, and the Sellwood food truck pod is close to the end location for anyone that wants to grab food.

Rescheduled to June 15th
NakedHearts:PDX (Moorland lead)
Sun, Jun 9, 2024, 7:00 PM
More of a meeting from 7:00-8:00….
Your Hosts are Moorland and other NakedHearts:PDX ride leaders. Please treat this as the start of a conversation that we’re happy to keep having to encourage you to bring your creativity to the bike community. What can you expect? Theme: we’re going to share advice on how to lead a ride. We will go over basics such as route, stops, themes, traffic interactions and safety. How to build a themed, social or party ride. Playlist selection, activities at stops. How to interact with security or Police? And aspects that are more nuanced. We will also cover the foundational and challenging aspects of trusting yourself, being vulnerable by revealing your niche interests and the anxieties that arise and how to find the medicine to these things in the ride itself. Bring your ideas, bring your creativity and we will try and make those part of the ride itself, as well as having people try leading the ride (with support and encouragement). During Pedalpalooza we have several slots set aside for new ride leaders to lead and be fully supported from creation of a ride to the ride itself. Please reach out as soon as possible because these fill quickly. Who are your ride leaders? Moorland: this is me writing this so….I’ve challenged myself into embracing the fear and anxieties around being around people and also expressing my creativity. I can speak to the fear and challenges of ride leading and I can also promise the rewards and gifts it can bring to the heart and our experience are beyond what we can anticipate. I also lead a lot of rides, like a crazy amount, including, what remains the most beautiful ride I’ve experienced, ‘The Opera ride’ I co-lead with Amy ‘Joy’, which was a profoundly serene ride. I also run NakedHearts:PDX and support as many ride leaders as I can. Who are you? You’re you. This is your ride and you belong here. You get to come as you are and maybe you don’t want to lead a ride but just hang out, maybe you want to lead a ride but will feel to nervous to say anything on this ride or maybe to even come to it, that’s ok, you can contact us or speak with us at another ride. Maybe, you’re over flowing with ideas and want help manifesting them and making them happen…. Or maybe you’ve got the desire to lead but struggle with ideas…. We can talk about all the different ways too approach making what you want happen in this space and afterwards.

Society of Three Speeds
Mon, Jun 10, 2024, 5:30 PM
If we decide to take a ride, it will be after 7, so get here before then.
8:30 PM
Hello, friend of three speeds! Tonight is a nice night to be outside, drink a beverage, and enjoy the company of fellow three speed enthusiasts! Swing on by Upright Brewing Beer Station for an informal get-together. Ride your bike up so we can ogle it, and grab a pint and chat. There’s food available from an Indian sandwich cart, plus Greek/American and Mexican nearby. If the weather is nice enough (it will be) and the energy is there (hopefully?) we can take a little roll around the neighborhood. (We wouldn’t roll until after 7.) I’ll have some Society of Three Speeds membership kits available for the special in-person at-event price of $25. Cash, PayPal, or Venmo accepted. I hope you can stop by and join us!

THE FRENCH RIDE.
Nakedhearts:PDX (Moorland leads)
Mon, Jun 10, 2024, 7:00 PM
Ride at 7:30pm. Not 8
Ride is a loop
Tonight’s theme is French music. Listen to the tones of vintage French rock n roll, the lullaby melodies of Francois Hardy, the driving beats of Daft Punk and Sebastian Tellier, the stunning orchestrations of Kavinsky and of course Serge Gainsbourg. Bring your costumes and desire to burn down the establishment and revel in the amazing music of this fabulous country. Mellow Mondays is a weekly THEMED ride, all year. All Wheels, All Riders, All Welcome. Each week there’s a different theme. Ride merges welcomed. This is a community orientated space for experienced and new ride leaders to try out ideas in a supportive environment. We can help with all aspects of ride planning and we’d love to hear your ideas. See news flash for the weeks theme and ride leader This is a safe space where we practice consent and non-violence. For consent practice we ask, even if you’re with your BFF we ask, you ask permission before touching them or their property and seek, listen and empower ‘no’. We practice non-violence specifically around car interactions and corking. These are our neighbors and we see them all the time so please be courteous and friendly, try and stay at least 4 ft from their bumper if corking. We ask for moderation on drinking and substances. This isn’t a sober ride, but it’s a safe space and moderation helps keep the atmosphere relaxed. Please report any issues directly to your ride leader and or Shift. We strongly recommend, PDXUnityRides for the welcoming queer/trans inclusion and community they’ve built. As well as RideSafe:PDX. Westside Wednesdays are a wonderful crew of riders and lead by Randy whose exceptional in taking care of the ride. Abraham Fixes Bikes on N Williams is our preferred bike repair and parts shop. It’s just two people doing their best to build their dreams and take care of helping us with our passion for bikes. If you’re a banned rider you’re banned here too. We’ve no tolerance for bigotry, hate, and bullies.
