Meet 7ish. Ride 8 ish.
Friday night ride is a social ride for people who enjoy a sporty pace and adventurous routes. Every ride is different but generally range between 15 and 25 miles and you can expect some climbing and higher speeds than your average pedalpalooza ride. NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE. Riders should be self sufficient and have a plan for getting themselves home. This is a bicycle-forward group ride. Pedal-assist ebikes are ok (class 1 & 2). Throttle heavy, high speed battery powered motor bikes are not (class 3 & 4). If you're not pedaling it’s not a bicycle and you will asked to leave. Bring lights/locks/responsible vibes/a cup/ Casual pace with some extra zip 10-20ish mile rides with store stops/park stops/art stops NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Be careful of slippery roads/leafs on ground/pot holes. Call out road hazards to help bike friends stay safe. 2nd Fridays are MMR - later night vibes to make it to Midnight Mystery Ride. If you want to lead a ride just ask! REPEAT… NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Guest ride leaders wanted and appreciated! Instagram @fridaynightride

Portland's Underground Cargo & Utility Bike Racing Event returns for its FIFTH YEAR - Carry Sh*t Olympics is a weekend-long series of competitive events which includes: a 24 hour scavenger hunt (for any and all types of bikes), a Friday Night Ride with fun mini-games, cargo polo (bike polo but there's 2 people on a bike), and a closed-course circuit race for bikes made for hauling! THE 24 SCAVENGER HUNT: START: Friday 9/25, 7PM ENDS: Saturday, 9/26, 7PM HOWS IT WORK? Hunters will receive a manifest at 7PM on Friday and have until 7PM on Saturday to complete as many tasks as possible. The manifest's checklist will include visiting locations, gathering items, and specific tasks to complete. Some tasks will, of course, involve carrying cargo. You do not necessarily NEED a lot of cargo space, but you should expect to either carry a lot of stuff or ride a lot of miles, or a mixture of both. Previous 1st place winners of The Hunt have completed the event on both brakeless fixed gear and also full size e-cargo bikes. Open to any and all types of bikes and skill levels, but to win will is only for those most worthy and steadfast Olympians. Collaboration between racers is allowed, but this is an individual event so all racers must complete their own manifest and carry their own cargo. WHAT CAN I RIDE? The Scavenger Hunt is intended to be "doable" (with the right attitude) on a wide variety of self-propelled wheeled devices. Race against other people with the same kind of rig as you. Choose from the following categories at registration: Rack & Bag (for “normal” bikes), Compact Cargo (midtails, cycle trucks, small trailers), Full Size (large cargos, long johns, big trailers), Adaptive (hand cycle, recumbent, quad-cycle, etc), or Open (skates, longboard, shopping cart, any other weird wheels). eBikes with a regulated speed cap of up to 28mph are welcome but will incur a points deduction. WHAT SHOULD I BRING?? Bring your race rig, a lock, a means to carry or secure your cargo, a flat tire repair kit, a phone capable of taking photos and/or recording a ride track, a good attitude and a thirst for glory. As with previous years, there is NO FIRST AID OR MECHANICAL SUPPORT, meaning you are expected to be self-sufficient for the entirety of the 24 hour race. C.S.O. V continues all weekend-long with a Friday Night Ride Takeover (Ladds Circle at 8pm), and Sunday's events which include CARGO POLO and a CARGO CIRCUIT RACE!! Follow @csopdx on IG for more info!!
