Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, May 24, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

Ride is a loop
Still aching over Tina’s departure. This ride celebrates her life and music. What can you expect? The music will be Tina Turner and her friend Dechen Shak Dagsay. We will listen to Tina’s greatest hits as well as the Tibetan Chants that saved her life on more than one occasion. Tina used to chant for hours and hours a day, starting in the late 1970’s. Arguably, the most beautiful and profound music she made was in the last few years with Dechen Shak Dagsay. Theme: Tina Turner meant so much to so many people for so many reasons. You’re invited to share what she meant to you at the stops. Sing along to some of her songs. Dance. But, mostly basque in the music of the Queen of Rock n Roll and the Dolcet tones of her chanting. Route: Low effort. Slow social pace. Loop. Store stop at a New Seasons or somewhere with clean safe bathrooms. Safety: We practice consent on all our rides. We ask you ask anyone (incl your BFF or partner) permission before you touch them or their property. We practice non-violence specifically around car interactions. All the drivers we meet are neighbors and we or another ride will meet them again so our respect and appreciation has an impact. It is unacceptable to be aggressive towards any car driver because you put the whole ride at risk. If anyone makes you uncomfortable please seek a NakedHearts support person or the ride leader.

Interested in learning about locations in Portland that used to be freeways or had plans to make them freeways? Come on a tour of Portland’s Freeway History Ride where we’ll tour areas downtown, N, NE, and SE. This ride will have a moderate hill climb in the middle. The pace will be between 8 to 10 MPH. The ride will be about 11 miles. There will be 7 or so stops that’ll be 3-5 minutes each which will focus on the history of a section of freeway. If you are a banned rider from any other rides you are banned here also. We will follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. We will likely call for corking at certain points and if you are able to help please leave some distance between yourself and the cars and be friendly to help keep all of us safe.

Can you believe Bike Summer is almost here already? If you’re planning to lead a ride this summer, you’re welcome to join us this Sunday for an interactive workshop on planning a route for a group ride and leading your group along the way. Interactive, you say? Yes! In lieu of a sit-down session, we’ll ride a route from an actual ride that your ride leader has led and pick it apart. We’ll explain some of the thinking behind the routing decisions — and even point out things we could have done better! You’ll even have a chance to co-lead a portion of the route so you can get a feel for what it’s like to be at the front of the group. We’ll be focusing primarily on route planning, but we’ll touch on some other stuff, too. If you’re leading a ride with us this summer, we’d love to see you, but it is not required by any means. Come with your questions, meet fellow ride leaders, share ideas, make new friends! This is an actual ride, so bring your bike! We’ll meet at Irving around 2:30 and start promptly at 3. Route will have a store stop. We hope you can make it!

Meet @ 10am, “ride” at 10:30 finish by 1:30pm
End location: Sunnyside Elementary School
Join BikeLoud PDX volunteers and bike powered street sweeper to make a section of our greenway system more safe to navigate by making visible any obstructed rode signage, bike infrastructure, and by making visible potential roadway hazards. It is intended to be the first of two annual rides, one in the spring and one in the fall. I’m open to taking input on where the next ride route should cover. We’ll begin by working to clear organic matter from the pathways immediately around and in the park and then move to the switchback that heads down to the Eastbank Esplanade. From there we’ll head down the Esplanade and then east up Salmon Street greenway. The ride will finish at Sunnyside Elementary School with some vegan and GF food provided. Food and beverages welcome (doesn’t have to be Vegan or GF just communicate to to those you share with to respect each individual’s dietary needs) * Needed items: gloves for removing organic debris, pruning shears, yard waste & trash bags, hand brooms/brooms, dust pans, cargo bikes, bikes with trailers & bikes with saddle bags, baskets or other storage for hauling away what we clean up. This ride is meant to build community while making our roadways more safe. As such we hope to attract community minded folks to join us and will be following the Shift Code of Conduct: https://www.shift2bikes.org/pages/shift-code-of-conduct/

Ride at 7:30
Ride is a loop
End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Riding out at 7:30pm -- (SERIOUSLY due to working early on Tuesday)
Ride is a loop
Monday, May 26th is my 44th birthday -- therefore I, Máximo, will be your ride leader on this special Mellow Monday AND taking y'all on an awesomely fun birthday celebration ride. I didn’t think I’d be riding again for a few months, due to surgery back at the end of March. Thankfully I’m healed up and ready to celebrate with a birthday ride. Join me for 44 wheels of joy (give or take a few spokes) as I celebrate another lap around the sun on this floating space rock. This year the celebration is on wheels and with all of YOU! 🥳💫 We’ll be cruising at a chill pace of 7-8 mph, perfect for chatting, vibing, and maybe shedding a tear or two (from the wind, obviously). The 11 mile route (with store stop & restrooms) is more about good company than cardio but the playlist will have you feeling feels and make ya move. Bring your good vibes, your brightest lights and just show up. Expect laughter, a song to singalong while riding, and maybe a surprise or two. Now for the cheese factor, it’s not just a ride - it’s a rolling reminder that life is better when we ride together. 💖🚴♂️ Come for the birthday, stay for the joyride. Let’s make some wheely good memories! P.S. I’m starting a new job on Tuesday morning at 8am so that means on Monday, May 26th this ride MUST leave on time so that I can get home and have good sleep. ----------------- NakedHearts: PDX hosts weekly themed rides. Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30, leave after “Beer Minutes.”
End location: Not a loop, but usually with a fire.
Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30. ✨Be an Empowered Bystander✨ See something off? Step up in a way that feels right for you: 🗣️ Direct: If it's safe, say *That's Not Right* for TNR. 🎭 Distract: Change the vibe and give them an out 🙋🏽 Delegate: Get help from a ride leader or trusted friend ⏳ Delay: Check in with the person afterwards 📝 Document: Write down what happened
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

If you want to lead a ride just ask! REPEAT… NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Guest ride leaders wanted and appreciated! Instagram @fridaynightride

Ride Westside
Sat, May 31, 2025, 9:00 AM
Meet at 9, roll at 10
End location: 158 SE 2nd Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97123 (Hillsboro Farmers Market)
The goal is to bring Westside riders together and show officials at Washington County, Beaverton, Hillsboro and ODOT that even though we're in the suburbs, our community is full of cyclists who deserve safe infrastructure too. Our leaders need to work together! We need infrastructure that makes riders and families feel safe—because when people feel safe, more will ride! All people are welcome, and any non-vehicular types of transport are encouraged! The party will kick off at Cascade Bikes in Beaverton at 9am! Get there early if you want free coffee!! The closest Max station is the Beaverton Central Max stop. We will depart at 10am and ride en-masse down Baseline and main into Hillsboro, ending at the Hillsboro Farmers Market. The closest Max station will be the Hillsboro Central/SE 3rd TC Max stop. The ride will be approximately 10 miles. This ride will abide by and follow the Shift Code Of Conduct. We are here to celebrate cycling in the West Suburbs, not to antagonize drivers, however we will be corking our ride to ensure the safety of our riders. What is Critical Mass? A mass bike ride and party-protest in cities all over the world, started 30 years ago in SF! Critical Mass bike rides are not just about cycling, it's about reclaiming public space, celebrating community, and making a statement for sustainable urban living. Streets are not just for cars and large group rides help to assert bicyclists' right to ride in the streets and celebrate the bicycle as a form of transportation. There is strength and safety in numbers What is corking? Corking is when you use your bike & body as a wall to ensure the ride can pass through an intersection safely, to keep the group together. Remember, strength and safety in numbers! This ride may not be suitable for small kids on their own bikes as we may be on busy roads with traffic.

Meet at 7, ride at 730
End location: Somewhere on naito
Who doesn’t love a parade! Let’s ride to Portland’s fun rose festival night time one together. We’ll meet at ladds circle but we’re leaving at 730 sharp! We’ll likely cross over Hawthorne and once we find a place with enough space on the sidewalk on naito we’ll hang there. I’d you don’t make it with us but want to try and join send me a message on Instagram and I’ll do my best to respond! You can just plan on standing and you should bring a lock just in case there isn’t enough room to be with your bike. There’s not a lot of places on the route that’s closest to the bridge to buy alcohol so make sure to grab that beforehand. Ride won’t be a loop, so you’ll need to make your own way back to the circle or home. If you’re not familiar with the parade, it’s about 2 hours long and is super lit up and fun and loud. Bring your fun bike lights and a fun tude. If you’re banned from other rides you’re sure as hell banned here. I follow the shirt code of conduct and expect anyone coming to have fun with me to be respectful to each other and cars.

Kidical Mass PDX
Sun, Jun 1, 2025, 12:45 PM
Meet a 12:45 pm, leave at 1:15 pm sharp!
2:15 PM
End location: Peninsula Park
Ride bikes together with kids and families, from Colonel Summers Park to Peninsula Park for the start of Pedalpalooza’s Bike Summer Kick-Off ride! This is a moderate paced ride, slow enough for kids on bikes and parents on cargo bikes. We’ll ride 5 miles from the playground and splash pad in Colonel Summers park, to the Peninsula Park, which will be the start of the Pedalpalooza ride a half hour later at 3pm. Our leader is 9 year old Amalie (and her dad Perry)! We will ride at 1:15pm sharp and should arrive at Peninsula Park at about 2:30pm, so you have time pm to pick up t-shirts and pennants, while kids can use the playground or enjoy other activities. Then at 3pm you can also join us if you want to ride at the front of the whole route of the Kick-Off Ride , along with other families and kids. @pedalpaloozapdx has asked us to ride right up front! That ride will be 5 miles long and has several hills, so younger kids may need to switch to a trailer or cargo bike with a grown-up. The kickoff ride will take us through the Lloyd District, and back up down SE Portland to finish the loop. While our ride is 5 miles and and mostly flat and will be fine for grade schooler on their own bikes, if you do the whole loop along with the Kick-Off Ride it will be 10 miles total, so it would be appropriate for 4th grade plus, or younger kids who are strong fast confident riders, to ride their own bike the whole way. Our ride will be suitable for young bike riders who can pedal their own bike uphill in a straight line. Kids should wear a helmet, be able to ride in a straight line without training wheels, start and stop, and follow instructions. Cargo bikes, tandems, trailers and tag-a-longs are great for younger or less confident kids, or in case kids get tired of pedaling. Adults without kids can also join the ride as corkers to help with traffic safety. We’ll ride together as a group, rain or shine, because kids are traffic too!

Join us for a loop ride centering genital autonomy, community care, and justice for all bodies! This ride raises awareness about Hadachek v. Oregon, a groundbreaking legal effort to expand Oregon’s child genital cutting protections to all children, including children assigned male at birth, from harmful circumcision and intersex normalization surgeries. We ride in solidarity with those impacted by genital cutting, especially trans, intersex, and gender-diverse (TIGD) folks, who are affected in unique and often overlooked ways. Allies are welcome! This is a no-drop, casual-paced ride with space for connection, visibility, and resistance on wheels. ✨ Bring: Bring your intactivist, bodily autonomy, or any apparel for a cause and your radical self! 🚲 Route: The route is a loop around North Portland through Peninsula Crossing Trail and by many parks! 🛑 Meeting & Ending location: McCoy Park, 4677 N Trenton St, Portland, OR 97203 🚉 Transit: N Trenton & Newman, Stop ID: 12727 ♿ Accessibility: Restrooms along route, and meeting location.
