Skeletons don't belong in closets! Have you ever noticed Portland's obsession with skeleton decor? If not, let's fix that. Join us for the second annual skeleton scavenger hunt where we'll ride past skeletons and skulls of all sizes, and you'll never NOT be able to notice them scattered throughout the city again. The ride this year will be in SE Portland. I still have to do some skeleton scouting before finalizing likely around 10 -12 miles again

Meet 6:30 to talk and buy supplies, roll around 7
Ride is a loop
Show up and ride bikes in solidarity with immigrants and everyone out there protesting ICE! We'll meet in the Las Marias Mexican Food parking lot around 6:30 and start by taking some time to talk with each other and share other events/opportunities to help immigrants, and then purchase some requested supplies for protesters from nearby stores (we'll check in with folks on the ground in advance re: their needs). We'll roll out shortly after 7. We'll then ride together to join up with ICE protesters and spend some time holding it down with them. We'll bring fun music and maybe... some protest karaoke? For those who are more risk-sensitive or not equipped for tear gas, we'll also be leading a ride back to SE at the first sign of violence/gas or after an hour hanging out (whichever comes first). But we encourage everyone to stay out as long as they can! This is a quickly evolving situation so we'll update this ride listing as details change– please check before coming out! Please bring a respirator if you have one, and leave pets/children at home.

Roll at 7:15
End location: Orenco MAX Station
After rave reviews last year this ride returns for a second go. The route is largely the same. You don't need to drive a big truck to like playing in the dirt. Join me as we find patches of dirt, gravel, and even a little single-track hidden around Hillsboro. Ride starts at the end of the MAX Blue line (Hatfield Govt Center) and will end near the MAX at Orenco. Your ride leader will be on a commuter with 38mm tires. I would recommend similar as there is definitely a fair mix of types of dirt and pavement. Note: do be prepared to lift your bike over train tracks when we cross at an unofficial location and carry your bike up a short stair set.

Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30, leave after “Beer Minutes.”
End location: Not a loop, but usually with a fire.
Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30. ✨Be an Empowered Bystander✨ See something off? Step up in a way that feels right for you: 🗣️ Direct: If it's safe, say *That's Not Right* for TNR. 🎭 Distract: Change the vibe and give them an out 🙋🏽 Delegate: Get help from a ride leader or trusted friend ⏳ Delay: Check in with the person afterwards 📝 Document: Write down what happened
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

Fri, Jun 27, 2025, 7:00 PM
Meet 7ish. Ride 8 ish.
Find your bike Every Friday Night. We meet at Ladds circle, in the circle. If it is raining, head down to the covered area of Abernethy Elementary School. Ride slowly meets at 7 pm and departs roughly at 7:45/8ish pm. An honorary 3 minutes of Ladd laps (Ding Ding Ride/Ladd500) and then we send it. Sometimes we have guest ride leaders. Friday Night Rides are different every time. Sometimes we go to other rides happening around town during the summer. End of ride fires/good vibes/respect/no jerks/ We are a community. Respect each other! No aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Violations against the code of conduct will be reported to shift2bikes. If you ride Sur-Ron/powerful electric bikes this is not the ride for you. You can come but you might be heckled. This is a bicycle ride. Bring lights/locks/responsible vibes/a cup/ Casual pace with some extra zip 10-20ish mile rides with store stops/park stops/art stops NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Be careful of slippery roads/leafs on ground/pot holes. Call out road hazards to help bike friends stay safe. 1st Friday is bottle share night. (bottle of wine/crazy beer/kombucha/coconut water/fizzy waters/anything you like to drink/want to share) 2nd Fridays are MMR - later night vibes to make it to Midnight Mystery Ride. If you want to lead a ride just ask! REPEAT… NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Guest ride leaders wanted and appreciated! Instagram @fridaynightride

Event on 6/27 is cancelled pending a reschedule
***the KAREN CONVENTION is CANCELLED for 6/27/25 due to scheduling conflicts. We are looking at future dates for a reschedule before the end of Bike Summer. Stay tuned here and at @the.appreciationsociety on Instagram for more updates. We are so sorry to delay -- we really want to hold this ride and we are already writing complaints to ourselves. ----------------------------------- Excuse me? EXCUSE ME. We would like to speak to the manager. RIGHT NOW. From the people who brought you "The Jennifer Coolidge Appreciation Ride" and "The Catherine O'Hara Appreciation Ride," comes the First Annual Karen Convention. Don your sharpest and most aggressive bob wig and bedazzle a Live Laugh Love blouse, because it's time - FINALLY TIME - that your long-simmering complaints were heard. Pack up your favorite white wine spritz or syrupy Marg mix and join us as we make a leisurely cycle around Portland (Karens always move at their own speed) to offer up our helpful criticisms about the state of things, leave passive aggressive notes, post withering Yelp reviews, and demand to speak to underpaid lower-mid-level supervisors about the various injustices we face all day, every day. Kens / Kevins welcome. Appropriate costumes STRONGLY encouraged. You can come without, but we will definitely have an opinion about it. Route and details TBD.

What the ride will be: Queer joy on two wheels is back, and you’re invited! Join Corvidae Bike Club for a Friday night ride full of connection, movement, and magic. We ride for freedom, for fun, and for each other. 🖤🌈 ✨ Leaving Col. Summers Park ✨ This is a no-drop, social-paced ride ✨ Expect loud music, late summer twilight, and lots of sparkle. ✨ All genders, bodies, and bike types welcome. ✨ We’ll wrap things up on Swan Island, where we’ll link up with Friday Night Ride for a beach bonfire and a full-on dance party under the stars! Whether it’s your first time riding with us or you’ve flown with the flock before — come roll with the queerest birds on the block. Dress up, light up, show up. Let’s take the streets together. 🚲💥 Who is Corvidae Bike Club: Established in 2017, we ride once a month to enjoy what this city has to offer. Each month is led by a different CORVIDAE member, and therefore will be unique. We occasionally have themes or additional donations to different organizations. Additionally, host pop-up rides during the summer. We try to focus our rides on greenways, group etiquette, safety measures and general camaraderie. In addition to bike safety and accessibility, we want to promote using bicycles as an alternative to fossil fueled travel within Portland. This is a no-drop ride, but please bring your repair kit with a spare tube so we can keep the ride rolling. Please bring your own provisions; we’ll be stopping near stores, but not at them. Each member has an eye out for the crowd, will cork, sweep and be a general pillar of support.

Music without Borders. This is an all request music ride and the theme for this is ‘music of your people, of your homeland, of your grandparent’s grandparents’. A celebration of all our heritages. Music doesn’t need to be traditional or folk orientated , it can be any genre from any period. It also is open too interpretation, for example, an English person might request Oasis, because they were born in Manchester, England. But an Irish person might request Oasis because the Gallagher brothers are Irish. What could be better than getting together with a bunch of people and riding bikes at a slow pace that’s beginner friendly. What could be better: Staying home and watching Netflix? Probably not. Staying home and watching videos of kittens and puppies and random animals falling asleep? Definitely better. Are you a human being with a history that goes beyond your knowledge into the past and you want to hear your people’s music echoing around the streets? Well this ride is for you and everyone else who isn’t the Wicked Witch of the West, (Turns out she was very misunderstood, but still had a delicate constitution around water). This is going to be a ‘’Its your music ride’. Everyone at the start gets to add music to the playlist and we just make a random mix. Do you wanna karaoke? You can do that as we ride with the wireless mics we have. Wanna request we flash mob to a particular song? We can try and see how it goes. Is any music banned? Well because of Sarah Monster Mash even Nickleback is allowed now. But seriously is any music not allowed? Well, who wants to hear American Pie, or Baby Beluga or that song about a cafe on thanksgiving….lets just try and keep requested songs under 5 mins…and although Coldplay or Drake isn’t a banned artist, let’s try not to make people’s ears retch. Can I request Rick Astley? You don’t need too he’s already on the playlist. But can I add him again? No need he’s already on there twice…. But, really can I ask for him again? You can’t win this game. Our Rick Rolling game beat the final boss and started again and then we beat the final boss over and over. Beyond all that. We practice consent and mutual respect and nonviolence on all our rides. If you’re banned elsewhere you’re banned here too. If you’ve a hard time recognizing other people have the right to exist and live their lives with autonomy and how they see fit, and respecting it’s their body and their choice, this isn’t the ride for you.

Kendrick vs. Drake: The Rap Beef Ride PedalPalooza’s Most Petty Ride Yet Two titans. One beat. No mercy. It’s Kendrick vs. Drake, and we’re taking the beef to the streets. Join us for a high-stakes, fully bumpin’, lyrically loaded ride through the ongoing saga between Kung Fu Kenny and Champagne Papi. We’re diving into diss tracks, deep cuts, subliminals, and straight-up shots fired—from “Control” to “Push Ups,” “The Heart” to “Back to Back.” Whose side are you on? Come dressed in your allegiance: OVO drip or pgLang precision. Or just ride for the bars. This is a no-drop, all-drama, heavy-hitting ride that celebrates the art of rap beef and the joy of watching two GOATs go head-to-head. The speakers will be loud. The opinions will be louder. Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA

Sat, Jun 28, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

Party starts at 9, ride at 10am!
End location: 158 SE 2nd Ave, Hillsboro, OR 97123 (Hillsboro Farmers Market)
The goal is to bring cyclists together and show our government officials across Washington County, including Washco, Beaverton, Hillsboro, Tigard, Bethany, and beyond that even though we're in the suburbs, our community is full of cyclists who deserve safe infrastructure too. Our leaders need to work together! We need infrastructure that makes riders and families feel safe—because when people feel safe, more will ride! All people and all wheels are welcome! Always stick to riding in the right lane. ------------- The party will kick off at Cascade Bikes in Beaverton at 9am! The closest Max station is the Beaverton Central Max stop (the round). We will depart at 10am and ride en-masse to Hillsboro, ending at the Hillsboro Farmers Market. The closest Max station at the end will be the Hillsboro Central/SE 3rd TC Max stop. The ride will be approximately 12.5 miles with a bathroom break near the middle. Check it out here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/rZ9VQxW5TX71pdH6A ----- This ride will abide by and follow the Shift Code Of Conduct. We are here to celebrate cycling in the West Suburbs, not to antagonize drivers, however we will be corking our ride to ensure the safety of our riders. What is Critical Mass? A mass bike ride and party-protest in cities all over the world, started 30 years ago in SF! Critical Mass bike rides are not just about cycling, it's about reclaiming public space, celebrating community, and making a statement for sustainable urban living. Streets are not just for cars and large group rides help to assert bicyclists' right to ride in the streets and celebrate the bicycle as a form of transportation. There is strength and safety in numbers What is corking? Corking is when you use your bike & body as a wall to ensure the ride can pass through an intersection safely, to keep the group together. Remember, strength and safety in numbers! This ride may not be suitable for small kids on their own bikes as we may be on busy roads with traffic.

Initiative Petition 28 (IP28), formally titled People for the Elimination of Animal Cruelty Exemptions (PEACE) Act, is a proposed ballot initiative filed with the state of Oregon for the November 2026 general election. If enacted, IP28 would remove many of the exemptions from Oregon’s laws against animal abuse, animal neglect, and animal sexual assault. Due to these exemptions, animals on farms, in laboratories, in exhibitions, and in the wild are not currently protected under these laws from intentional, knowing, and reckless injury. We believe everyone should be equally protected under the law, and that all animals deserve equal consideration, regardless of whether or not we consider them our companions. All animals deserve a life free from cruelty. Before it gets to the ballot, we need to collect 117,173 signatures from registered voters in the state of Oregon. If you would like to sign, please come! We will meet up and hang around for 30 minutes to allow everyone to officially sign the petition. Afterwards, we will ride through the neighborhood. Ride is a loop. Come hang out and learn more about IP28 and what it could mean for animals in Oregon!

Quick safety chat at 3:00pm, ride shortly thereafter.
End location: Johnson Creek Park (SE Clatsop St & SE 21st Ave, Portland, OR, 97202)
RIDE #1: 11TH/12TH-MILWAUKIE AVE Holladay Park to Johnson Creek Park, brief pause at Brooklyn City Park - 5.1 miles, no loop. Our city is lacerated by multi-lane highways and stroads that are hostile to human life and subservient to mass automobility. These rides aim to prefigure what these wretched roadways should become -- long, straight, safe courses for human-powered transit! We claim these roads for bicycling! These rides will take the entire rightmost travel lane, and potentially more, depending on size -- the more people show up to ride together, the less individual bravery any one person needs to bring. Due to the current unsafety of these roads, these rides are not particularly recommended for younger children. The goal is to consistently move at ~12 mph, though we'll maintain whatever pace we need to stay together. The ride leader is an experienced road rider and will ride in the back as caboose/sweep with a brightly visible trailer. Snacks, waters, first aid kit, and bike tools will be on hand. We will follow road laws, but will prioritize staying together as a group, so corking would be welcome if the group size justifies it. This is a series of six rides on "unfriendly" roads -- demanding by action that no city streets should be unfriendly to people outside of cars! June 29, 3:00pm - 11th/12th-Milwaukie* July 6, 5:00pm - Cesar Chavez July 12, 11:00am - Sandy July 20, 2:00pm - 82nd July 27, 10:00am - Powell August 3, 1:00pm - MLK Jr. *(Admittedly, Milwaukie Ave isn't really a stroad, but I decided to start this series with something more lowkey... it should still be made friendlier for bicycling!)

Meet at 1715, rolling at 1745
End location: Tigard Public Library
I wanted to host a couple of fun rides that follow routes I personally use for training in suburbia, aka the Westside! I'm a new and pretty young ride leader, so please bear with me. We'll meet at the North parking lot of Garden Home Recreation Centre at 1715 and roll at 1745. The route is about 7 miles long, and will end at the Tigard Library, however the Tigard Transit Centre is relatively close if you would like to take transit back. We will mostly be on the Fanno Creek Greenway and Tigard Heritage Trail, but we will have to take Denney Road to cross over the 217. It's a relatively flat ride aside from the Denney overpass, so all types of bikes and abilities are welcome, including E-bikes. We will make an intermediate stop at Greenway Park. This will be a no-drop ride as well, so if you have any issues, we will help!

LoveSpokes, a Wedding Reception Irving park June 29th 2025 Meet at 5:30 pm, Ride leaves 6pm Ride is a loop, ends with dance party If you’ve ever felt a groove a-bubbling up inside; if you’ve ever shuffled, moon-walked, twerked, or pirouetted; if you’ve ever succumbed to a funky tune and accepted your destiny as a living filament quivering with the rhythm the cosmic love song, then THIS is the ride for YOU. If you’ve ever fallen for someone, let down your guard, soaked up the sun, and allowed tenderness, hope, and hopeless romanticism to grow, then THIS is the ride for YOU! Three years ago, a winsome pair of fated lovers met on a Pedalpalooza ride. Popping and locking, doing the worm, neither of them had any idea that Dancing Ugly and Drooling would change their lives forever. Like birds of paradise shimmying incandescently, they caught each other's eyes, then hearts, and the rest was a cha cha: real smooth. Now newly wed, join their Wedding Reception, LoveSpokes, for a ride like no other! With the same ride leader, in the same park where it all began, RIDE WITH US! Ride for music, ride for belonging, and most of all, RIDE FOR LOVE! *costumery encouraged*

Meet at 6:30pm, Ride at 7pm sharp!
8:00 PM
Calling all cyclists, robotboys, fembots, and dancehall queens! Call your girlfriend and tell her it’s time that we dance to the beat. This ride is all Robyn. Who’s that girl? She's an internationally beloved Swedish pop-star - killin' it since '94. She's the founder and CEO of Konichiwa Records. Listed in section 202 of the United Nations Security Act of 1979 as being too hot to wear tight sweaters in international airspace. Route Map COMING SOON: Expect an ~1.5 hr joy ride of 8ishmiles, with a dance break stop at the ~4 mile mark to dance and enjoy refreshments (bring your own - there is no store stop). * We will be taking some major streets Do you know what it takes to make this a great ride? - We will need corkers (and those who are cork curious) - Big speakers (for music) - And of course you! Got a big speaker? (JBL Xtreme size or larger) We’ll do a simple sync of the music by pressing play at the same time, but we do ask that speakers space themselves out along the ride. Be sure to use the Spotify playlist. Add your fave Robyn song if it’s not there already. Dress your Robyn fantasy, just don't include me out. Be sure to bring water (you’re not indestructible) and snacks/beverages - there will NOT be a store stop. BANNED RIDERS: If you are banned from any rides, you are also banned from this ride. This ride will be a safer space for queer and bipoc folks with a zero tolerance policy for non-consent, discrimination, or phobic behavior.

Ride is a loop
End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Don't draw a bike, bike a drawing! Using state of the art technology, each rider will draw a colored line on a collaborative sketch just by riding around. It's magic, like Etch A Sketch, but the drawing dials are the wheels of your bike. How will the canvas affect our creativity? What are the limits and opportunities of this advanced new art medium? Bring a smartphone, and be prepared to "share your location." Your location will only be used to create this artwork and will not be accessed or stored beyond that. A method to mount your phone to your bike will allow to view the sketch in progress hands-free, but it's not necessary. Part of a series. Quick how to lead a ride tutorial before Mellow Mondays ride. Things we’ll cover, Theme creation, Creating the atmosphere you want, Sourcing support, Route planning, Speed, What if’s…… Then QnA. This is meant as a conversation opener and an opportunity to move towards leading your own rides. This will be lead by Moorland with occasional support. Brief Bio: NakedHearts has lead around 350 ish rides, with 100 ish different ride leaders, we’ve worked with local schools, government agencies, festivals, DJ’s, Bands, venues, parades, artist groups of all kinds and supported 100 ish other rides. So we have a little experience. But the all the experience just teaches caring about the ride and riders is what matters, and everything flows from there. For most people that comes naturally. Kiro (who’s only 8 years old) is considered the best ride leader and he cares about the ride and riders and having fun and that’s what makes him the best because that’s his focus. The mechanics of leading and organizing can seem daunting but it’s within reach of all of us.

Meet at 6pm at Bike Happy Hour. Trivia starts at 6:30pm. We'll ride after a few trivia questions.
7:30 PM
End location: Lovejoy Fountain Park (downtown)
Educational ride, taught by a traffic instructor. I’ll assign you to trivia teams, and quiz you on pedestrian safety. We’ll ride for short periods, and stop in parks to do trivia. You’ll leave this ride knowing 1.) crosswalks (most people don't understand) 2.) how to avoid the top cause of pedestrian crash (driver failure to yield to pedestrian established in crosswalk) 3.) how to avoid the top cause of pedestrian fatality (driver excessive speed) 4.) How cyclists yield to pedestrians It’ll help your trivia team if you read your Drivers Manual in preparation: https://www.oregon.gov/odot/forms/dmv/37.pdf It'll help if you review pedestrian safety at: https://portlandbicycleschool.com/driving-around-pedestrians-faq/ This will be a slow ride, perfectly paced for people learning to bicycle, and families with children. No one will be left behind. This allows time for socializing during the ride. We’ll take greenways and bike lanes, to minimize interactions with drivers… because Portland’s bicycle network is incomplete, there may be short necessary portions of sharing larger roads, and we’ll stay together as a group for safety. This is an Oregon Walks event. Oregon Walks is our pedestrian advocacy organization.

This route has been meticulously sculpted to not only be fun, but to also look cool (if you're the type to track your route 😉), AND of course to include some fine hand crafted ice cream establishments! 🍦🍨 We will stop at Cloud City around halfway, and the ride will end at Fifty Licks. (Not quite a loop, but we will pass thru the starting park after Cloud City if you want to make it a loop and bail early) Note, if you prefer a "Short and Sweet ride", the ride won't be stopping, but we will be directly passing by Salt and Straw ice cream on Division if you want to bail at mile 1. Please consider bringing your own spoon and maybe a bowl/cup/mug, if our group gets too big we may need to buy pints/larger cups and split to keep from overwhelming the shops! Our mid ride stop, Cloud City is also adjacent to a Safeway and a New Seasons if we need alternate ice cream options depending on our group size). Please plan on tipping the staff, especially if we end up being a big group! Start above the restrooms overlooking the tennis courts. There is one small cut through portion with some dirt/gravel. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/341574776

It's time for the fastest and most direct way into downtown Portland on a bike!!! The faster and more adventurous group ride you love is going to be riding up the Sunset Path to the zoo exit for some well documented funny business!! With the bike punk spirit of Zoo Bomb we will be bombing along Hwy 26 through the Jefferson Street tunnel into downtown. This 9 mile route is one of the unique things about Portland and bikes and we want to continue on with the spirit of the bike community before us! Thanks for paving the way, y'all. As always we have a no drop mentality. There is maybe 800 feet of elevation for the chance to etch yourself in PDX Bike ethos. We love you! It’s the FIFTH ANNUAL ROSES & ROSÉ ride Let’s celebrate our bike city and petal-palooza! We're keeping it in the North this year -- meet among the roses at Peninsula Park, then we'll make our way a magical mid-way stop and end at Irving Park. How to be FESTIVE: Wear floral. Be bright. Be colorful. Bring a rosé or rosé-adjacent beverage. How to be COOL: Be kind to each other (including cars and walkers). Meet someone new. Stay in one lane while riding. Pack it out! The only thing we're leaving behind is our floral essence. If it's hot out, don't worry - Greg will keep us cool with his innovative bike sprinkler. Hope to see you wildflowers there!

(Ride leaders family, before emigrating, lived in the same village in Wales for over 800 years) What better way to celebrate America’s independence than celebrating a country that fiercely stood independent from all foreign powers for 10,000 years. The Welsh Genetic lineage began around 10,000 years ago when they broke away from ancient Britons. The Ice Age had recently ended and the scoured land of Wales became accessible as 100’s of meters of Ice retreated. The Welsh people left the low lands of England by their Border and took to the hills of Wales. Rumors that his divergence is due to their tight bonds with Neanderthals exist. Over a vast span of time the Welsh resisted occupation, by every empire and country that tried. The Vikings, Anglo-Saxon’s, The Roman Empire, The British Empire, and countless tribes attempted to conquer Wales. Yet, the Welsh had perfected Guerrilla warfare, had a reputation of strength and were defiantly unstoppable against massive forces. The current population of Welsh people in Wales is about the same as the population of Greater Portland. The Welsh people maintain their language, roads signs are in Welsh all Government paperwork is in Welsh, and the Welsh country side is often filled with smoke from the deliberate burning of the second homes of English people. The Welsh through their independent history have made themselves a distinct genetic group that resembles a people as isolated as tribes in South America despite being adjacent to England.

Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, Jul 5, 2025, 9:00 AM

Ride is a loop
The Green Loop will be a six-mile linear park that connects people through the heart of Portland, especially by bike. Let's help bring this planning concept to life by riding sections of the Green Loop today and exploring what it connects now, and what it could connect to in the future. Topics will include bike network design, activated places, advanced physical and digital wayfinding, public/private partnerships, urban re-greening, public art, and delicious food. This ride will focus specifically on the Eastside of the Green Loop, but exploring connections to the West, North, South, and further East. Sunday Parkways on September 14th will include portions of the Green Loop West (https://www.portland.gov/sunday-parkways/downtown-event-2025), look for Sunday Parkways feeder rides from and back to the Green Loop East in September.

The ride will be chill, and wont end far from the start. I'm going to be hauling a heavy battery and we don't want to risk our beautiful cards flying out 😅. Planning on doing Doe to Coe before 😉. Meet a 3, ride at 3:30
5:00 PM
End location: Near Ladd’s Circle Park
Do you like Toothless or Charizard? Vrtra or Mushu? Do you passionately debate who would win if Drogon fought Smaug? Do you love “Game of Thrones”? Or have read every “Dragonriders of Pern” book? Or maybe you just love dragons, period. Well then, get your wings and fire ready and fly with us! Put on your awesomest dragon attire and turn your bicycle into a dragon. Alternatively, feel free to cosplay any character associated with dragons, such as Raya, Daenerys, Hiccup, Geralt, or Donkey. After meeting at Grant Park, our first stop is a dragon mural for a group pic, next stop is a mystery activity at Irving Park, then we’ll visit a second mural for another group pic. We’ll glide to a mystery location — a retail store, so you may want to bring a bike lock. Fly once more to perch atop a dragon-themed restaurant, where we’ll have spicy food and breathe fire. But no worries if you’re a baby dragon — mild food is also available. Route is just under 10 miles, social pace, no drop.
