For some strange reason* I was asked to lead the Thursday Night Ride on this date, some months ago. From the early days of this ride I have done my best to enliven it with music but never have led it, or any large ride. Figured I would give it a try. I will take the opportunity to bring out my best soundsystem, that is a bit much to deal with on the typical mystery ride. As some of the pieces are still coming together, I'd like to get everything working & sounding the best, in a calmer scenario. Also, it is strangely important to me, this time of year, while we still can - to start a night ride before it is fully dark. I have got to keep it simple on the TNR, to accommodate sound trailers but this ride is even simpler we just head down the Springwater a ways & sample some more chill music than may be heard on the ride perhaps, but also push the limits of what can be done to ensure that all is functioning as expected. Additional SKAA speakers can possibly be accommodated - I may run dual transmitters & might have a spare receiver or 2 just be aware the range might not turn out as good on the ride & I'd prefer solid sound over added speakers. At the end spot we can max it. Heading to the fountain around 7:40. * its my bday

Thursday Night Ride is Portlandās longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced ārolling dive barā of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling togetherāother wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shiftās Code of Conduct, and if youāre banned from any Shift rides, TNR isnāt for you. No complaints, just accountabilityāif your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and donāt forget to thank a corker! š Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. š Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30. šŗļø TNR #543 Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52426172 āØBe an Empowered Bystander⨠See something off? Casual ride to art galleries for the First Friday Art Walk. Cat attire welcome, as the first art gallery has cat themed art! First Friday Art Walk is a monthly tradition where art galleries stay open late, bring in artists, have free food, and have hands-on arts projects. http://firstfridaypdx.org/ Biking is the best way to get around to these wonderful galleries, as they're spread around inner SE/NE. We get to 5-8 galleries, depending on how long our group spends in each gallery. We don't know exact routes and galleries, because we decide in the moment. We'll stay out until ~9:30pm, then see if folks are up for a group dinner afterwards. Join for as many galleries as you like, and leave when you wish. If you have a sound system bring it! I love music on group bike rides. Ride details: 5-15 minutes of biking between galleries. Our ride is perfect for new cyclists and families with kids. We'll go at a slow pace so folks can socialize, and everyone can keep up. We'll use small neighborhood streets with minimal cars.

Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 2:00 PM
End location: 4121 SE 11th Ave
Bring your cargo bikes, trailers, your crates, your bungee cords, your baskets, and your amazing muscles - Anika finally found a great home and needs to move stuff out of her storage unit into her awesome new house in Brooklyn! Storage and the house are only like 5min apart... But more than one trip might be necessary. If you are a heavyweight champion, be prepared to move some furniture. If you like a move but only have a rack, there are so many little book boxes and you are the hero they're waiting for. Then, we eat homemade tacos and drink kombucha at the housewarming party! Bless our new house with us! Maybe do a ritualistic loop around the block dinging our bells and burning incense! We'll make something up! For fun, a Springwater trail/Brooklyn exploration ride will follow, or merging with another bike ride - we'll decide what we want to get up to.

Revolutionary Bicycle Club
Sat, Sep 6, 2025, 4:00 PM
Leave at 4, arrive at 3 to check out Gays Eating The Rich in the Park!
End location: Always Here Bookstore
Books, flyers, zines and art are a HUGE part of revolutionary movements. If you've been itching to make some of your own protest posters, print some zines, or find a great book about Palestine, then we've got a bike ride for you! Come along as we take a tour of pro-Palestine art/literary spaces, and go home with some cool prints and new knowledge. We'll be leaving from Laurelhurst at 4, and we recommend getting to the park an hour early so you have a chance to check out all the cool stuff happening at "Gays Eating the Rich in the Park" before we go. If you're running late for our leave time, meet us at our first stop instead. First stop: The Independent Publishing Resource Center! Come for a tour of the space, learn what things you can make here, and grab a zine or print. Second stop: Outlet! You've probably seen some gorgeous protest posters that have been printed at Outlet floating around town, so here's your chance to learn a little about risograph printing and take home a fun print. Third stop: Always Here Bookstore! Best selling author Lydia Kiesling will join us at this stop for a reading and conversation. All three places we stop at are listed on Portland to Palestine (portlandtopalestine.com), a directory of local businesses that stand against genocide and apartheid. We will ride at an easy pace with fun music, and we always make an effort to not leave anyone behind. The print materials that we send folks home with on this ride all relate to the Global Movement to Gaza flotilla, which seeks to break the siege of Gaza and bring aid to starving Palestinians. We hope you'll also join us on Sunday 9/7 for a flotilla solidarity ride and march. š²š¶š£š¼āµ

The mural covers the entire plaza and highlights native plants and species in the area. The Roseway Neighborhood Association will have food, beverages, music, and games at the grand opening. The group bike ride starts at Wilshire Park and follows the new Mason/Skidmore Neighborhood Greenway. This west-to-east greenway goes between the 20s and 70s greenways and provides a calm riding environment with safe crossings of busier streets. The greenway passes through the new plaza where the celebration is being held, and the bike ride will pause at the plaza to take part in the festivities. The 5-mile group ride is a loop heading back to Wilshire Park on a different greenway route. The return ride passes through Sacajawea Park where there is a nice view to the north that includes Mount St. Helens. Hope to see you on the ride!

Corkers needed for march!

Meet near bathrooms
Revolutionary Bicycle Club
Sun, Sep 7, 2025, 2:00 PM
Meet 2, roll 2:30
On 8/31, an international flotilla launched on a mission to break the siege of Gaza. On 9/7, the boats will be approaching Gaza and it's crucial that the world is watching. So: grab a Palestinian flag and decorate your bike like a boat, then come along on a flotilla-themed ride & march to raise awareness! We'll meet at Laurelhurst Park and take a conversational-pace ride to Salmon Street Springs, listening to songs about water and liberation as we go. At Salmon Street Springs there will be a rally and march (bikes are encouraged to jump in and help cork) which will take us to a venue where we will do a livestream with crew members on the Flotilla. The Sumud Flotilla is an incredible historic undertaking to break the siege of Gaza, and we're beyond grateful for the crew members who are willing to wake up in the middle of the night (it's a 9 hour time difference) and get on a zoom call with us in Portland. This is likely the last opportunity the flotilla crew will have to talk with us before they arrive in Gaza (or are intercepted by Israel). Don't miss it! Some family-friendly crafts and performances to follow the livestream. Follow @globalsumudflotilla on IG to track the flotilla 's progress.

Meet at 6 PM, depart at 6:30. Sunset ain't gonna wait for us
9:00 PM
End location: It's a mystery!
Did you know that on the night of the full moon, sunset is usually right before the moon rise? Let's hit up a spot where we can watch both! Stock up on snacks and libations before meeting up, then depart on a chill, slow-ish paced 5-mile (give or take) ride to our mystery destination. Ride not a loop. Lights, layers, and a picnic blanket are good ideas. Extra credit if you bring a telescope or good binoculars to observe the moon. Please note: THERE IS NO STORE STOP. There are markets near the ride start, so go there beforehand. There should be open bathroom(s) at the end. Also: RIDE NOT A LOOP, we end where we stop. If you need help getting back to the start, let me know. Rest assured, we will still be in "civilization" where we end, with Tri-Met service nearby. And most importantly: THIS IS A GOOD CONDITIONS RIDE. Clouds, rain, smoke, and excessive heat may cancel the ride. Check the Shift calendar on the day of ride for confirmation. Sunset 7:36 PM, moonrise 7:41 PM.

Ride at 7:30
Ride is a loop
End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. Youāll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isnāt a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and weā recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Meet at 6:30, ride at 7:00!
Join us for the second annual Yellow Bike Ride! Yellow is obviously the best color, and that's not just my opinion! šIT'S OBJECTIVELY TRUEš Yellow bikes *ONLY*, and wear something that's yellow if you can! We're gonna wander around Inner-SE to spot every yellow building and object we can. Think bird watching on wheels... but for yellow stuff. We'll have a party-pace, with 1 store stop to get yellow snacks. (You don't have to eat something yellow I guess, but if it's not yellow you may be shamed) I'll also have a can of yellow spray paint if you have a non-yellow bike and wish to join. Just kidding... ...or am I?

Ride at 5!
Its my birthday! Never forget!!! I have started doing a fun tradition where I ride the amount of miles I am old, which is now getting to be a very long day :) But after work I would love if you could join me to help finish up some miles! We are going to ride to Honey Butter Country Fare for a corn dog for dinner (there's other food carts there too if you arent in to corn dogs... but who isnt in to corn dogs!?), then back to SE to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church on Glisan and 31st to watch the swifts roost for the evening at sunset. Bring a blanket or towel if you can to avoid the itchy dead grass and bring whatever beverages you may want to enjoy and have some cake with me. After that we will likely go head down to the water and do a quick waterfront loop, especially if I still have miles to hit! We will ride from the circle at 5 so if you know you wont make it on time please reach out to me on instagram. We should be at the Arbor Lodge food carts a little after 530 and will spend an hour there; then we are trying to be at the church around 7. So if you just want to meet at the church and ride after that please join us there instead! If you have ever ridden on a Mellow Monday or come out on one of my rides over the last summer, I would love to see you. Bike summer may be over, but there's still some fun to be had and corn dogs to be eaten. We will follow the shift code of conduct, and if you're banned from rides anywhere else you're banned from this ride as well.
