Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Join Ride Westside folks for a music ride after Westside Bike Happy Hour as we make use of the party trailer to play “Bops n Bangers from Ukraine.” Mick and Ivan have teamed up on a playlist of contemporary indie/dance/art pop, folktronica, electronic & progressive tunes from Ukraine. It’s high-energy music for moving! We’ll have about an hour of riding at a social/party pace that kicks off after Westside Bike Happy Hour. We’ll have the big speaker in the music trailer up and running. Come for the community, food, and drink, and then join us on the ride.

Sure, it gets pretty wet in the Northwest, but with a little extra preparation you can get around by bike in all seasons. Join us for an interactive session to learn tips and techniques for staying dry, comfortable and safe while riding all year 'round. We'll show multiple styles for all-weather dressing and also talk about how to keep your bike happy when the weather is gloomy. Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Find your bike Every Friday Night. We meet at Ladds circle, in the circle. If it is raining, head down to the covered area of Abernethy Elementary School. Ride slowly meets at 7 pm and departs roughly at 7:45/8ish pm. An honorary 3 minutes of Ladd laps (Ding Ding Ride/Ladd500) and then we send it. Sometimes we have guest ride leaders. Friday Night Rides are different every time. Sometimes we go to other rides happening around town during the summer. End of ride fires/good vibes/respect/no jerks/ We are a community. Respect each other! No aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Violations against the code of conduct will be reported to shift2bikes. If you ride Sur-Ron/powerful electric bikes this is not the ride for you. You can come but you might be heckled. This is a bicycle ride. Hey Folks! It's time again to play video games and bikes! If you are familiar w this ride then you already know that we like to bring a large projector and play in unusual places like sides of buildings or under bridges. This month we will be playing Super Mario 3. It is arguably the most popular video game of all time and I'm sure there are quite a few folks that are going to be very good at it. This weekend is also the Retro Video Game Con at the convention center. We were donated a NES emulator and an original cartridge of the game from one of our fellow riders and have a prime location picked out. Everybody gets a chance to play, We have a gold trophy for the winner, lots of fun for everyone else!

What time does it start? Whenever you want to show up! but, the grand depart will be at sunrise if you choose to partake. Is there an age restriction? No! all ages are welcome. Do I have to do a whole century?! No! No one ever has... Then why is the ride called a century? Because it sounds good (and that's the ultimate goal). Will there be food or drinks? The ride is self supported so nothing will be provided by the event. however, there will be a chill zone at the bottom gate if you want to bring something to contribute to the vibes. Is this a race? No! But there may be prizes for arbitrary categories. Regardless, come for kudos and valor. Will this be an annual event? No! it is as big of a deal as the olymics and therefore takes place every 4 years. Again, why? Again, why not?!

We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. Join Bike Milwaukie for our October ride starting at Ardenwald Park in Milwaukie and heading to Ladds Addition for some fun loop-de-loops (let's see how good your internal compass is) and through SE Portland to Woodstock for lunch at the Heist food cart pod. The route will be almost entirely on neighborhood greenways and is mostly flat, so it should be a nice and relaxing ride. Bring water, snacks, and a bike lock for the food cart pod. Note: This is not a loop ride, but after lunch there will be several groups heading back to Milwaukie if you'd like to tag along. Bike Milwaukie rides are easy paced with no drops and great for cyclists of all ages. We will note if a monthly ride is more challenging.

The Springwater Wetlands were recently restored complete with a new multiuse path that goes along the edge of the wetlands. This path also makes for a bike connection between the Springwater Corridor and the neighborhood greenway network to the north. The re-vamped wetlands have proven popular for waterfowl, with ducks, geese, and other species regularly frolicking in the water. The ride takes place during the time of peak fall colors, so we will ride through several parks going to and from the wetlands, with most of the ride being on greenways or paved multiuse paths. The 10-mile ride starts and ends at the Lents Farmers Market following PBOT's Winter Cycling Workshop being held there. Come early to pick up some farm-fresh produce and visit the PBOT booth providing tips and resources for biking through fall and winter in Portland.

Tuesday, October 21st is the day that Elliott Smith died, so to celebrate his life we are going to ride a curated route passing by some of his old haunts. Most buildings are still there, just now something different. Come ride and listen to his music with us as we remember a Portland music legend. We will be riding in to NW Portland and after we make our way back to the elementary school there will be an optional stop after to go to My Fathers Place for some drinks since he used to hang out there.
