Hello friends. It'll be cold and wet for this Halloween themed ride. Bring a costume if you desire but we will be lead by our ghoulish homie as they lead us to our most certain demise. We're stoked! Hope you are too! Bring lights and fenders! (Or whatever else that will make you feel comfortable) The pace will be more mellow then in the past but as always there will be funny business!! Come join us as we will visit Grandma's House!!

**Rescheduled for THURSDAY 10/30! The weather looks much better during the week.** Now that the nights are getting darker and the sun is setting earlier it can be hard to find the light and joy we find during night time bike rides during the summer. For me, neon signs evoke a combination of nostalgia and futurism and have a great warmth brought into the cold dark of the city night. Join me on a "tour" of some notable neon signs around Portland that glow year round and keep the nights bright. We'll see both large and small signs around North, Northeast and Northwest. Many of these signs are located on car-centric streets like Broadway and Interstate that we don't often think to ride on, let's get out there build community and enjoy the glow! The route is about 23 Miles long and will be generally moderately paced (10 miles per hour) with a no-drop mentality. We will stop around 10 miles into the ride at the plaza west of Hollywood Theater for a store stop at either Trader Joe's or the convenience store. We will finish up on Mississippi Ave around 9:00 and plan to hang out for a while in the area. Ride slowly meets at 7 pm and departs roughly at 7:45/8ish pm. An honorary 3 minutes of Ladd laps (Ding Ding Ride/Ladd500) and then we send it. Sometimes we have guest ride leaders. Friday Night Rides are different every time. Sometimes we go to other rides happening around town during the summer. End of ride fires/good vibes/respect/no jerks/ We are a community. Respect each other! No aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Violations against the code of conduct will be reported to shift2bikes. If you ride Sur-Ron/powerful electric bikes this is not the ride for you. You can come but you might be heckled. This is a bicycle ride. Don't want to ride in the rain? Would you do it for all-you-can-eat bratwurst? Let's ride to Verboort and have some good eats. Meet at the Wallace Park picnic shelter near the basketball courts. Gather at 8am, departing at 8:30am - can't be too late to dinner. Pace will be spirited enough to stay warm but slow enough to not show up too sweaty. There will be a few regroup/snack breaks at the top of the climbs, as shown on the route. PLEASE be aware that there are some significant hills on this route, and we will be far from TriMet service at times. You are expected to be self-sufficient! Bring a lock, lights, rain gear, and some cash! Fenders are appreciated :) Dinner is $23, and there will be a wait to eat after we arrive. Luckily, there's a beer garden to pass the time in... Community led ride - many folks now know the route and different folks can point the way each week! There are three meeting points: 1. SE Clinton St/41st Ave at 10 am (ride at 10:05) 2. SE Clinton St/26 Ave at 10:10 am (ride at 10:15) 3. Tilikum Bridge at (former) PDX Opera ~10:25 am; leaving from Tilikum location ~10:30 am 4. Arrive at PSU Market ~11 am Ride is on every Saturday the market is open (year round except weekend between Christmas and New Year). We will make every effort to note weather-related closures here promptly.

Come out for a guided ride exploring where to get rain gear (new and used) in Portland, practicing wet weather riding technique, followed by hot chocolate and info-sharing at Clever Cycles bike shop. We'll let our smiles be our umbrellas (but bring rain gear if needed). This ride is a loop (will return to start) and is about 8 miles long. Perfect for folks new to Portland, new to the bike or just getting back on their wheels, we'll travel at an easy-pace (8-10 mph) and no one left behind - and we'll ride rain or shine. 5th Annual! For this FREE community event, Milagro Theatre staff will give all riders a garland of artificial marigolds, whose orange and yellow colors are believed to represent sun and light, helping to guide spirits back to the world of the living. This year’s bike ride marks a powerful transition--crossing the bridge to expand partnerships into the Northeast, uniting two neighborhoods through Mexican tradition, art, and collective memory. The ride will join Lloyd EcoDistrict’s Blumenauer Bridge Witching Hour Celebration. The Street Trust with support from Milagro and Cycle Homies will lead a five-mile route that features intermittent stops at participating business locations that are participating by hosting their own altars for public viewing. The ride is a slow-paced, stay-together loop, with stops for the altar visits, and is family friendly. The public is encouraged to dress in costume and decorate their bikes for the occasion. Milagro partners with Central Eastside Together to match member businesses with Latino artists to create altars, which are displayed throughout the Festival. For the first time ever, a full stretch of the future Green Loop will close to traffic and open for people. Anchored by the Blumenauer Bridge and the cultural hub of the Bear Blocks, this community-powered event reimagines our streets as spaces for creativity, joy, and sustainable urban life. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts.
