Come celebrate Lady Max's BIRTHDAY the best way possible: on two wheels, with good people, and an irresponsible amount of sugar. We'll start at her favorite small-batch ice cream shop KULFI on N Williams, hang there for a half hour... ...before we roll out at 6pm to SWEET AND SALTY, a very special treat shop... ...and end at downtown's new small-batch ice cream that just opened in July, JADE COW CREAMERY. (Note: each location has BOTH COW AND VEGAN MILK ice cream.) Come rack up some miles as we celebrate Max's birthday properly along the way. We might make questionable nutritional decisions but don't worry, when there’s a birthday involved, CALORIES DON'T COUNT. It's pure science!

Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, rolling out from Salmon Street Springs every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic, party-paced social ride with warmth and weirdness from our welcoming “rolling dive bar” regulars. Most rides feature regularly spaced park and store stops, generally leading to a lively end spot around 11 PM. Come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. Strong Thursday traditions, stronger shared expectations. While you might see some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct. If you’ve been asked not to attend *any* Shift rides, you are not welcome at TNR—that’s not up for debate on our ride. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. TNR works best when everyone helps set the tone and shares responsibility. Look out for each other, welcome new riders and help them find the next stop, leave it better than you found it, give people space when they need it, and help keep the ride moving forward together by practicing Consent, Accountability, Respect, and De-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements after 7:30, leave after “Beer Minutes.” 🕢 If you’re not at the fountain by 7:30, you may want to meet us at the next stop. 🧭 Ride Tracker: https://thursdaynightride.com/tracker https://ridewithgps.com/users/1303039/live_log
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

End location: 7701 N Chautauqua Blvd, Portland, OR 97217
Ride length: 8-15 miles
Thursday nights. Hard start at 8:05 PM. It's almost the weekend, so let's ride bikes. We roll from and return to Columbia Park (meet in front of the pool) for an hour-ish ramble through North Portland and beyond. No agenda beyond riding bikes with good people. Expect roughly 10 miles at a conversation-friendly pace (~10 mph). We usually have a brief rest stop along the way for snacks, stretching, high fives, admiring a weird tree, taking in a panoramic view, or whatever else seems important at the time. This is a no-drop ride. Basket bikes, ATBs, all-road bikes, cruisers, "gravel" bikes, fancy bikes, old bikes, rusty bikes, whatever. If your bike can comfortably cruise at ~10 mph for an hour, it’ll be fine. Bring: -Front and rear lights (required) -Snacks if you'd like -water or optional beverage, maximum vibes (no store stop). And, an extra bike tube wouldn't hurt! Remember, wherever we end up along the way, we always practice Leave No Trace! Meet: 7:45 PM . Roll: 8:05 PM sharp . Start & Finish: Columbia Park, in front of the pool. Come meet your neighbors and see what North Portland looks like after dark. Pre-game meetup last Thur of each month: 7/30 (6pm at Chill & Fill), 8/27 (Chill & Fill, N Lombard), 9/24 (TBD), 10/29 (TBD). Meet 7ish. Ride 8 ish.
Friday night ride is a social ride for people who enjoy a sporty pace and adventurous routes. Every ride is different but generally range between 15 and 25 miles and you can expect some climbing and higher speeds than your average pedalpalooza ride. NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE. Riders should be self sufficient and have a plan for getting themselves home. This is a bicycle-forward group ride. Pedal-assist ebikes are ok (class 1 & 2). Throttle heavy, high speed battery powered motor bikes are not (class 3 & 4). If you're not pedaling it’s not a bicycle and you will asked to leave. Bring lights/locks/responsible vibes/a cup/ Casual pace with some extra zip 10-20ish mile rides with store stops/park stops/art stops NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Be careful of slippery roads/leafs on ground/pot holes. Call out road hazards to help bike friends stay safe. 2nd Fridays are MMR - later night vibes to make it to Midnight Mystery Ride. If you want to lead a ride just ask! REPEAT… NOT NECESSARILY A NO DROP RIDE… ESPECIALLY IN THE FALL/WINTER/SPRING. Guest ride leaders wanted and appreciated! Instagram @fridaynightride

The Route & Stops: We will pause at three distinct locations along the route. One of our stops will be high above the river on the Tilikum Crossing—taking advantage of its zero-automobile traffic and open air space—while the other two stops will remain a secret until we roll up. Ride Vibe & Etiquette: Acoustic Focus: Please do not troll the ride with electric motorcycles or blast high-decibel EDM. Standard e-bikes are completely welcome. Music & Sound: Bluetooth speakers are fine during the ride (bonus points for underground flute jazz or flute salsa!), but we ask everyone to turn all speakers completely off during the Wind Salutation so we can align with our breath and instruments. Everyone Welcome: Kid-friendly, family-friendly, and 21+ friendly. Just come ready to respect the space, the air, and your fellow riders.

End location: Cinema 21 for the movie showing
Ride length: 3-8 miles
The movie "A Simple Machine" was filmed entirely in the Portland area and is having a showing at Cinema 21. An earlier showing at the Hollywood Theatre sold out quickly, so get your tickets soon! This 4.5-mile group ride goes by some of the filming locations in the movie before arriving at Cinema 21 for the showing. The movie's director Mark Alan Hoffman will be with us, and he will explain the locations and take questions at each stop on the ride. This will be a "party pace" ride at about 8 MPH to accommodate everyone. And everyone is welcome on the ride even if you do not have a ticket for this showing. Starring Richard Blackmon in a breakout lead role, "A Simple Machine" follows Nick Allander as he tries to figure out his life’s direction during the late stages of the pandemic. A recent college grad, he makes a series of radically frugal lifestyle choices and goes off-grid to get out of debt. He’s unable to let his girlfriend-practically-fiancée in on his plans, forcing a difficult choice between a simple life on his bike or committing to the woman he loves.

Ride length: 8-15 miles
It's a really pretty bike ride to the PDX Airport. And from inner NE Portland it's about the same travel time on a bicycle as in a car. There's no particular reason why anyone who likes to ride a bike should drive to the airport if you're just going somewhere for a week and carrying light luggage. So, let's do it for fun. To get to know the route, learn the couple tricky turns between 72nd and Alberta and the airport itself. Learn the two bike parking areas, consider what type of bike and lock to bring if you're parking for a week. I'll be flying away from the airport, so everyone else can either take MAX back or retrace steps as a group. Or you can join me and come to Utah ;^)

End location: Ride ends nearby but not at Abernathy
Welcome to Mellow Mondays 2026. Are you interested in leading a ride? This is a supportive and organized way to lead for the first time. Every week there’s different themes but there are constants…. Slow pace, about 8 mph, Distance varies but approx 10 miles, Family friendly, We practice consent and non-violence on all our rides, Store stop for safe clean bathroom access but generally we try and make these stops short, Skater friendly (but please check with ride leader about crunchy or potential issues for skates), ALL Wheels friendly (scooter, skates, skateboard, e bikes etc), Ride is always a loop, Corking and traffic intersections are calm. Be mindful of smoking around others and do not smoke around children. FAQ, Can I bring a speaker? Yes but please speak to the ride leader and play the music they’ve carefully selected or what their preference is. Can I lead a ride? Yes, please attend a few first and get a feel for how the rides are. I’ve heard NakedHearts supports other rides? Yes, we can help with planning, encouragement, promotion, sound support and what not. What do you mean you practice consent? We ask everyone (even friends, relatives, husbands and wives with each other) to ask for permission before touching anyone else or their belongings and when asking to seek listen and empower ‘No’. What do you mean you practice Non-violence? We specifically expect everyone to be calm, kind and respectful with all car interactions. One riders aggression to a car driver can put everyone else at risk. We live in a small city and are bound to encounter the same drivers again. Are all your rides a protest? Yes, being together with respect and acceptance and finding comfort and joy around others and strangers is an act of protest against the divisive paradigm we are in.

Portland's Underground Cargo & Utility Bike Racing Event returns for its FIFTH YEAR - Carry Sh*t Olympics is a weekend-long series of competitive events which includes: a 24 hour scavenger hunt (for any and all types of bikes), a Friday Night Ride with fun mini-games, cargo polo (bike polo but there's 2 people on a bike), and a closed-course circuit race for bikes made for hauling! THE 24 SCAVENGER HUNT: START: Friday 9/25, 7PM ENDS: Saturday, 9/26, 7PM HOWS IT WORK? Meet at the Abernathy Elementary gazebo at 7PM on Friday. Hunters will receive a manifest and have until 7PM on Saturday to complete as many tasks as possible. The manifest's checklist will include visiting locations, gathering items, and specific tasks to complete. Some tasks will, of course, involve carrying cargo. You do not necessarily NEED a lot of cargo space, but you should expect to either carry a lot of stuff or ride a lot of miles, or a mixture of both. Previous 1st place winners of The Hunt have completed the event on both brakeless fixed gear and also full size e-cargo bikes. Open to any and all types of bikes and skill levels, but winning The Hunt is reserved only for those most worthy and steadfast Olympians. Collaboration between racers is allowed, but this is an individual event so all racers must complete their own manifest and carry their own cargo. WHAT CAN I RIDE? The Scavenger Hunt is intended to be "doable" (with the right attitude) on a wide variety of self-propelled wheeled devices. Race against other people with the same kind of rig as you. Choose from the following categories at registration: - Rack & Bag (for “normal” bikes) - Compact Cargo (midtails, cycle trucks, small trailers), - Full Size (large cargos, long johns, big trailers), - Adaptive (hand cycle, recumbent, quad-cycle, etc), - Open (skates, longboard, shopping cart, any other weird wheels). (eBikes with a regulated speed cap of up to 28mph are welcome but will incur a points deduction) WHAT SHOULD I BRING?? Bring your race rig, a lock, a means to carry or secure your cargo, a flat tire repair kit, a phone capable of taking photos and/or recording a ride track, a good attitude and a thirst for glory. As with previous years, there is NO FIRST AID OR MECHANICAL SUPPORT, meaning you are expected to be self-sufficient for the entirety of the 24 hour race. (Plz don't sue me, I have nothing <3) C.S.O. V continues all weekend-long with a Friday Night Ride Takeover (Ladds Circle at 8pm), and Sunday's events which include CARGO POLO and a CARGO CIRCUIT RACE!! Follow @csopdx on IG for more info!!

Meet 7ish.

**Registering a team? SIGN UP HERE: https://smvmt.us/modateam** **Want email updates? RSVP HERE: https://smvmt.us/modasignup** In December, Portland City Council plans to reach an agreement with new billionaire-Blazers owner Tom Dundon in order to renovate the Moda Center. The expected deal will cost Portland and Oregon taxpayers over $800 million over 20 years with no private money coming from Dundon. Because billionaire Dundon is threatening to move the Portland Trail Blazers out of our city, politicians are moving quickly to give away hundreds of millions of dollars with nothing in return. But the Blazers are our team, and we also deserve a city with functioning schools, parks, and roads. As Trail Blazers fans and taxpayers, we deserve a fair deal that keeps the Blazers in Portland and doesn't bankrupt our city. On Saturday, September 26th, we're hosting the Moda Center 500: a bike relay and parade celebrating the team we love and calling out billionaire extortionists. We're bringing together Blazers fans, students, teachers, union leaders, and city council candidates together to demand Tom Dundon pay his fair share of the Moda Center renovation, and declare our public subsidies require public returns not blank checks. If Portland City Council cannot make a fair deal for Portlanders by December, they must delay their agreement until we have a proposal that doesn't shutter schools nor close parks, but actually lets our city thrive. Join us at the Moda Center on Saturday, September 26th at noon for speeches from community organizations, unions, and city council candidates. The bike race/relay/parade will begin at 1pm.

It's a full moon! Let's ride naked. Except, let's do it in daylight! September is still nice weather, but it can be cold at night! So we'll enjoy the warm orb of the sun, and provide our own moons to dress up Portland' streets. This is a "bare as you dare" ride. Clothing welcome, nudity welcome. A quiet protest against oil wars, fossil fuel dependence, and car dominance. We'll roll from Coe Circle, and loop back about 2 hours later. We'll visit all five quadrants of the city, shout pro-bicycle slogans, and possibly visit ODOT's Portland Headquarters for a short, symbolic protest against freeway widening. Let's enjoy and make use of the civil liberties we have had to peaceably assemble to seek redress of grievances. Enshrined in the 1793 US Bill of Rights, and many place before and since. (Past Tire and crew have been leading small naked rides for 17 years. We periodically vary the date and theme -- this is our first "full moon daytime ride!")
