Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

Ride is a loop
End location: Back where we found you!!!
We had the most wonderful thing happen. New to us bike fam from out of state reached out about a gravel group ride. We suggested our Portland gem, Forest Park, and a food pod after crossing St John’s Bridge back into Portland. We set a date for when they will be in town and this is your invitation to come out and join in! The route totals are 28 miles of asphalt and gravel topping at 1,300+ feet of elevation! A challenging yet manageable effort with the St John’s food pod to tame your hunger after leaving the forest and the iconic St. John’s Bridge! Ride is a loop and will end back at the statue on the east side esplanade. So come out and bring your friends and help us introduce a friend from out of town to our home. Now, just a little something from our new friend. “I’m an Idaho bike mechanic and cyclist coming up to visit looking to do some gravel grinding on my single speed! I reached out to Cycle Cats PDX to meet some new cycling buddies and go on some fun rides as I’m always looking for more connections wherever I travel. Come ride with us and look at the trees bugs and birds in forest park!”

CORKERS NEEDED
Powell's Books, 1001 W Burnside
Meet in the triangle across from Powell's
Revolutionary Bicycle Club
Sat, Oct 4, 2025, 2:00 PM
Saturday is an international day of action in solidarity with the 400+ civilians from around the world who were kidnapped by Israel this week as they attempted to sail to Gaza to deliver aid to starving Palestinians. 2 Portlanders, our dear friends Stephen Wahab and Paul Reid, were among those kidnapped and are presumed to currently be in Israeli detention. Reports of detainment detail zip tied hands, lack of food and water, and denial of access to lawyers. The prison where they are being held is famous for being a place where many Palestinians have been brutally tortured. In solidarity with these brave humanitarians and all the people of Palestine, come rally outside Powell's on Burnside and SHUT. THINGS. DOWN. This is not a bike ride, but bikes are very much needed! Please show up with your bike and help out: 🚲 Cork for marchers 🚲Ride your bike in circles around Powell's to help bring visibility of the action to the back entrance RBC will be there to help direct corkers and other bikes. Ask organizers if you can't find us! WHY POWELL'S? Powell's is one of the city's most popular tourist destinations, and as such it is an ideal place to show the city of Portland that they need to take this seriously and start taking measures to distance themselves from Apartheid and genocide and help bring Paul and Stephen back home. Additionally, Powell's is one of the largest sellers of racist and Zionist books and is currently promoting Charlie Kirk's new book as an "anticipated release." They may claim that this is because they are protecting free speech, but in reality they are just trying to make a profit off of deeply harmful literature because... capitalism. Every harmful book they sell is also available for sale in other places like Amazon; there's no reason for Powell's to sell them as well. Please join us tomorrow. Free Palestine!

Just in time for the spooky season! Come explore at least four and possibly six different East Portland Cemeteries, most of which you probably didn't know existed! Small "Pioneer" cemeteries dot the landscape, all of these burial grounds are within two miles (either west or east) of I-205. We'll stop plenty of times, have a refreshment, etc. break somewhere en route, and after the ride we can get food and libations. No one left behind. This ride is more about the ride and checking out things. There won't be an immaculate and exquisitely detailed tour at each cemetery, I don’t have all that. And I won't be wearing a cape. (If you want that, I hear they do a good job at Lone Fir.) Ride not a loop, but end will be transit accessible.

Hurtin' Sturgeon Presents: THE BIG TREE BIKE RIDE (not an educational ride) We have been biking around the East side and found all of our favorite trees. Here's the thing, we don't actually know anything about the trees, just that they are like super big. There will be a lot of pointing and you are welcome to identify the trees, we just won't know if you are right or not. Not only will we bike past some big trees, we will also see wide trees, weird trees, stinky trees, and perhaps some shrubs! Route is about 13 miles with a store stop halfway. Not necessarily a no-drop ride.

Ride at 7:30
Ride is a loop
End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

---- THE RIDE IS NOT A LOOP ---- Monday, October 6 is the date for the Mid Autumn Festival that is celebrated throughout China and other east Asian countries. Learn more about it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mid-Autumn_Festival So, let's go ride up Mt Tabor under the moon and stars and eat mooncake together! IMPORTANT: To prep for this ride you should go get a mooncake (or get a bunch if you wanna share) at any of the Asian grocery stores or bakeries; bonus points if you go to 82nd ave or further east to buy one! The ride will start at Clinton Market and we'll head over to Salmon/Taylor to go up the mountain. Once we get up to the top, then we chill and hang out and enjoy the night. Feel free to grab any other snacks and drinks at Clinton Market before we go, but make sure you have a mooncake. I mean, I guess you could also not have a mooncake if you wanna be like that but then you're celebrating a different holiday haha Feel free to head home at any point after. The ride isn't a loop but if you need help getting back to the start just let me know. Oh yeah, I should add that I’m not gonna make this a crush fest. We’ll go slower so ppl can participate. And I’ll have reconvene points as we go up to the top. IG: @machinehuman

Tue, Oct 7, 2025, 10:00 AM
Meet for coffee at 10, we'll leave at 11
End location: Wallace Park in NW (start point for rally/march)
October 7th marks two years of genocide, and on this day we'll be riding from morning to dusk to honor Palestinian resistance and mourn the 680,000 Palestinians that are estimated to have been killed by Israel (with bombs and guns manufactured/funded by the US). Our ride will take us to places all over town where acts of solidarity are planned. We'll stop in at businesses listed on Portlandtopalestine.com, ride around playing Palestinian music and chanting, and join up with other orgs for events. We'll eventually end at Wallace Park in NW for a rally and march (with Al-Awda, JVP, DSA, Rainbow Bloc, and many more groups). You can ride with us for the entire day or just for a segment of the ride. We'll share our route/stopping points a few days in advance of the ride so you can choose where you join. SOME THINGS TO KNOW ON OCTOBER 7TH: The United Nations has officially declared this a genocide, as have leading human rights organizations around the world, and it is the responsibility of every person in the world and every government to do everything possible to end the genocide, end apartheid, and support Palestinians in reclaiming their stolen homes. As US citizens we bear extra responsibility for this genocide, as our tax dollars fund it, our politicians back it, and our corporations are getting wealthy from it. Portland itself is deeply complicit: local companies (like Precision Castparts Corps and Leupold & Stevens) manufacture components for Israeli weapons, our city and state have large investments in companies on the BDS list, and our senator Ron Wyden is one of the largest recipients of campaign funding from Israel lobby groups (his dehumanizing statements on Palestinians and his dismal voting record bear witness to this). Portland, this is OUR FIGHT! LONG LIVE THE RESISTANCE. Palestine will be free! 🇵🇸🚲🇵🇸🚲🇵🇸🚲🇵🇸

Thursday Night Ride
Thu, Oct 9, 2025, 7:00 PM
Meet at 7:00, announcements by 7:30. 🕢 After 7:30, follow us to the next stop.
End location: Not a loop, but usually with a fire.
Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements by 7:30, leave after “Beer Minutes.” 🕢 If you’re not at the fountain by 7:30, you may want to meet us at the next stop. 🗺️ Live Location: https://ridewithgps.com/users/1303039/live_log ✨Be an Empowered Bystander✨ See something off? Step up in a way that feels right for you: 🗣️ Direct: If it’s safe, say *That's Not Right* for TNR. 🎭 Distract: Change the vibe and give them an out 🙋🏽 Delegate: Get help from a ride leader or trusted friend ⏳ Delay: Check in with the person afterwards 📝 Document: Write down what happened
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

We roll at 10:10am
Ride is a loop
Ladies (trans ladies this means you too!) on regular bicycles are welcome to join our monthly ride. This ride is "no dudes, no e-bikes, no offense". I welcome e-bikes on the many other rides I organize, but they are not a good fit for this ride. If that makes you mad, please feel free to join one of the many rides on the Shift calendar (some of which welcome only e-bikes!). We always meet at the northern end of the trolley trail at SE 17th Avenue & SE St Andrews Drive, across from the Goodwill Bins and very close to the Springwater Trail - about a half mile from the Orange Line MAX (Johnson Creek/Tacoma stop). Some riders have trouble finding this for the first time, so you might consider studying the map before you head there. We're usually a small group of 4-6-8 riders. Our pace will be approximately 12-14mph, slower if it's super wet or on hillz. Our rest stops will be at parks with bathrooms and water spigots. We will not be stopping at any stores or cafes or restaurants, so be sure to bring enough snacks for yourself. It's also helpful if you can carry a small repair kit and spare tube (even if you are riding tubeless or don't know how to fix a flat). We'll plan to choose from one of the routes below at the start. All riders get a spoke card and a quick safety talk. Route choices: Happy Valley Industrial, 25 miles, 1000' gain, all paved Best on Sundays https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52585762 Salish Ponds, 27 miles, 500' gain, all paved except for gravel path into Salish Park Great for rainy days https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51303515 East to Binford Trail, 22 miles, 600' gain, all paved except for 1/2 mile path Springwater Trail to a gorgeous trail in the woods https://ridewithgps.com/routes/51201436 Aldercrest Classic, 20 miles, 800' gain, all paved The route that started it all! https://ridewithgps.com/routes/49133783 Hidden Falls, 30 miles, 1300' gain, all paved except path into Hidden Falls Pretty view of the falls https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48697900 West Riverside Loop, 23 miles, 1300' gain, less than 2 miles on wooded paths Not great for rainy days, starts with a climb https://ridewithgps.com/routes/44932165 Happy Valley Cutties, 17 miles, 600' gain, less than 2 miles on gravel paths Features some strange but fun nature cut throughs https://ridewithgps.com/routes/43720667 East to Boring, 35 miles, 700' gain, all paved Our longest ride, great for rainy days as we can easily cut it short https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42299988 Oregon City Viewpoints, 25 miles, 1200' gain, all paved Views and car-free Waterboard Park, not great for rainy days https://ridewithgps.com/routes/42176352

WeBike events are for women, trans, and non-binary folks. This includes but is not limited to trans men, trans women, cis women, agender, gender queer, gender fluid, gender nonconforming, and Two Spirit people. WeBike will ride to the end of the Springwater Corridor Trail in Boring! And then a little bit beyond to Liepold Farms' Fall Festival. Tickets. The ride is free, but the festival is $20, tickets will be available online soon or at the gate. If you want to join us for just the ride out and then head back to Portland after a snack stop at the end of the trail, that's fine! Route. We'll meet up at Cartlandia a.k.a. Springwater Cart Park (Springwater Corridor Trail at SE 82nd Ave/8225 SE 82nd Ave, Portland, OR 97266), then take the car-free multi-use path 14 mostly-flat miles to Boring, and finally ride half a mile of slightly uphill road shoulder to the farm. There are several restroom/water refill stops along the way and we'll stop for quick snacks in Gresham and at the end of the trail in Boring. If you want to shorten your ride back, we can give you a MAX pass to grab the Blue Line in Gresham. Food. There is food to purchase at the festival, but we are allowed to bring our own food into the festival and eat it at the tables in the open-air “restaurant” barn. We'll stay at the farm for 2 hours before heading back. Read all about the festival at liepoldfarms.com. And yes, there are pumpkins! Both big and small. Pumpkins are fun to transport by bike, and we'll bring some old innertubes to help tie them down to racks and baskets. Bring your bike lock. The farm doesn't have a bike rack, but we're welcome to lean our bikes on a fence near the entrance. Rain or shine. This ride will happen rain or shine UNLESS the weather is so bad that the farm has canceled the festival (there is very little chance of that happening, though). RSVPing so we have your contact info and can get in touch about weather is very helpful–thanks!

Corvidae BC
Sun, Oct 12, 2025, 1:00 PM
Meet at 1PM. Roll out at 2PM
Established in 2017, we ride once a month to enjoy what this city has to offer. Each month is led by a different CORVIDAE member, and therefore will be unique. We occasionally have themes or additional donations to different organizations. Additionally, host pop-up rides during the summer. We try to focus our rides on greenways, group etiquette, safety measures and general comradery. In addition to bike safety and accessibility, we want to promote using bicycles as an alternative to fossil fueled travel within Portland. This is a no-drop ride, but please bring your repair kit with a spare tube so we can keep the ride rolling. Please bring your own provisions; we’ll be stopping near stores, but not at them. Each member has an eye out for the crowd, will cork, sweep and be a general pillar of support. Ride pace is casual at around 10 miles with a few park stops. We aim to impress that this is a safe environment for all; no aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Please review our Corvidae Code of Conduct. Meet 2nd Sunday of every month Hang at 1 PM Wheels down at 2 PM sharp Bring your respect for each and the city. Leave no trace 🤘🏽

David leads again, ‘The Small Parks Tour’
NakedHearts:Pdx
Mon, Oct 13, 2025, 7:00 PM

Ride length: 8-15 miles
Join Ride Westside folks for a music ride after Westside Bike Happy Hour as we make use of the party trailer to play “Bops n Bangers from Ukraine.” Mick and Ivan have teamed up on a playlist of contemporary indie/dance/art pop, folktronica, electronic & progressive tunes from Ukraine. It’s high-energy music for moving! We’ll have about an hour of riding at a social/party pace that kicks off after Westside Bike Happy Hour. We’ll have the big speaker in the music trailer up and running. Come for the community, food, and drink, and then join us on the ride.
