Not a ride
Variable, announced every Thursday, TBA
Brian McGloin
Sat, Aug 9, 2025, 9:00 AM
Starts at about 9, people roll in and out through around 11
We meet at a different park in Portland every Saturday all year morning at about 9 to talk about home repair, travel plans, obscure board games, insects, etymology and sometimes bikes. Coffee Outside is often a meeting or starting point for adventures, day rides, group food cart rides or other outings. Bring a means to make coffee or some sort of coffee-adjacent beverage, or not. Instant chai? Perfect. A canned coffee beverage from the bodega? Legit. A special small batch blend of beans roasted in your neighborhood roastery that you measure by weight (portable scale, naturally) hand-grind in your titanium grinder before making a slow pour-over using hand-made paper filters and perfect temperature water? Sure, go for it. Baked goods are always appreciated but not at all required. Uniform? Nope. Fancy bike? Nope. Racing or ultra bikepacking chops? Nope. We enthusiastically welcome new faces and have no barrier to entry other than being your authentic self and leaving any bad/aggro attitudes at home. We post the location every Thursday on the PDX Coffee Outside website, which our friend Chris updates, and our Instagram account.

Join us for the Coffee to Books to Beer bike ride! This fun, laid-back social community ride is the best way to start the weekend, discover new spots, make connections, and have a good time. This month, we’ll meet at the courtyard behind Bread & Honey Cafe on N Vancouver at 9:45 AM to have a cup of coffee and chat with other riders. At 10:30 AM, we’ll kick off the ride, cruising for a 10-15 mile loop with a stop at a local bookstore midway and ending at an all-ages welcome venue around noon to hang out and have a beer. Every ride is a near-loop. This ride is family-friendly and designed for riders of all levels. The pace is easy, and the vibe is friendly. Everyone is welcome! We are going to try and host the Coffee to Books to Beer ride at least once a month from May through October from various locations. Keep an eye on the Shifts2Bikes calendar for more rides. Portland gets 36" of rain a year — join a 7-mile ride to explore how water flows through the city, how we work with water and how you are part of it. This 7-mile ride invites you to explore Portland’s relationship with water — visible and invisible, natural and built. We’ll visit places where water tells stories of the past, shapes the present, and reflects our choices about belonging, stewardship, and connection to place. From native plants to urban springs, from art to hidden infrastructure, we’ll trace the ways water moves through our city. You’re not just along for the ride — you’re part of the water cycle. While this is not a full loop, a loop can be made by riding 2 miles on 7th Ave (a bike friendly road) from the end point north to Irving Park. This is a ride for all ages interested. Remember: - Helmet - Water bottle - Sunblock - A Snack. Ride will go across Broadway Bridge to Tanner Springs, along NW waterfront to cross Steel Bridge, along eastbank esplanade, and then finish at the Depave Block Party on 7th & Sandy.

Meet at 1:30pm, ride at 2pm

End location: High Rocks Park in Gladstone
Ever been to High Rocks on the Clackamas River in Gladstone? It's an awesome swim spot where the water stays cold year-round. So what better time to take a dip/dive than in the hottest part of summer? High Rocks is the perfect spot for every type of swimmer- places to just dip in, rocks jutting out a few feet above the water perfect for a cannonball, or take the challenge and jump from 20+ feet above the water. There are lifeguards on duty so everyone is safe. This is a one-way ride as the end point is the park and people are welcome to stay as long as they like. Bring sun block and water! Maybe even some snacks! The ride will start at Westmoreland Park in Sellwood at Hall Pond (approx. the intersection of SE 22nd and SE Rex St). From there we'll go through Sellwood and pick up the Trolley Trail that goes through Milwaukie and Oak Grove until it ends in Gladstone right near High Rocks (which is basically across the street from the DMV). It's between 8-9 miles one way to High Rocks.

Do you have a favorite Bikeway Character? Come dressed up as your chosen piece of thermoplastic street art and let's get together & bike about it! We've come a long way from the days of rogue city workers altering the ubiquitous bike lane symbol into something cheeky. Until recently, there was a whole team dedicated to bringing school kid's winning designs to life on our streets! Full colour unicorns, lipsticked slugs, Gloria Steinem quotes... We'll meander around town appreciating some old & new road art, try to snap photos with our inspirations, and reminisce about Sharrow Characters long paved over. Perhaps most importantly, by showing our love for these silly art instillations we can try to convince PBOT to BRING BACK the Bike to Books Coloring Contest that quietly ended in 2022. This year we're exploring a bit of central Portland. We'll pop over to the west side for a bit, and then back over to the east side, recrossing some paths we've explored in past year's routes. This is a gentile, 8ish mile meander that aims to collect as many sharrows characters as we can. Stick with us for a photobooth, spoke card making station, and costume prizes in a park at the end! Need costume inspiration? tinyurl.com/bikelaneart will take you to a map of sharrows characters I've logged from across Portland, feel free to email me any other I've missed - let's crowdsource this collection! Also @bicycleroutefound is a GREAT follow on instagram with *mostly* local-to-Portland art on the street!

Attention Chile Heads: Join us for our second enchanted ride through close-in Southeast in celebration of green chile. Starting at Rainbow Road (Southeast Ankeny at 28th), we'll fuel up on nearby food and snacks before riding by even more restaurants, through parks, by shops, and maybe stop at a bar, the chile will decide the path! Hosted prior to the Hatch Chile Season, we'll fire up a bike-trailer roaster along the way for the smell of freshly roasted peps as we cruise. Completing our utopian journey, we'll cap off this afternoon ride with a final meetup.

End location: Bistecca Woodfire Steakhouse, 2145 NW Raleigh St, Portland, OR 97210
Come ride with the Direct Action Everywhere! We an intersectional animal liberation group that is currently focused on asking restaurants in Portland to take foie gras off their menus! Foie gras is an extremely cruel practice where workers force feed ducks with tubes at least twice a day to enlarge their livers. California and New York City have already banned the sale of foie gras, we are asking Oregon to do the same, starting with individual restaurants! We will be biking and chanting F** foie gras (along with other animal liberation chants) and will be ending at Bistecca Woodfire Steakhouse, where we will protest outside on the public sidewalk to ask them to take foie gras off their menu! Signs will be provided, but feel free to come with your own if you would like! Meet at Laurelhurst at 6, ride is at 6:30. At 6 we will be chatting about Direct Action Everywhere's work and how to get involved! Its about a 25 minute bike ride to Bistecca. Come prepared to make some noise to disrupt Bistecca to pressure them to take foie gras off the menu! https://www.instagram.com/dxe_portland/

The lack of happy naked (ish) bodies on bikes and we can take direct attraction to implement a change in this, however briefly and for just one night. Safety. Nobody has the right to touch others without permission. We practice consent here. Nonviolence: we ask everyone to be considerate and kind when interacting with drivers. Photography, please avoid filming and taking pictures. Feel free to ask anyone if they’ve permission to take someone else’s picture. Banned people stay home or go elsewhere.

Meet at anytime after 11:00 pm but we're rolling out at 11:20 pm
Ride is a loop
End location: We'll be back at Salmon Street Springs (ideally)
It's a FULL MOON! I've always wanted to do a full moon midnight Forest Park ride, and lucky me, it's a full moon on a Pedalpalooza Saturday night! I don't know what the hell I'm doing, so it'll be a semi no-drop ride. If you wanna go blast through this by yourself? Go ahead, my Lord If you wanna go at a chill pace with a feeble me? Thank you It's a pretty free-paced, enjoy at your own level kind of a ride, but if you're scared of the dark, then stick with us and we'll finish this together. Although it's a full moon, it'll be pretty damn dark in Forest Park, so make sure to bring some lights. Safety is key since you can really eat gravel and dust hard on a dark Forest Park downhill with no lights. It's a decent amount of climbing (1300 ft) and riding (27 miles), so bring fuel! There will be a store stop in the beginning and right after St. Johns bridge, and maybe 3rd stop at N Interstate and Going Route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52074475

Meet at the bike racks on N Commercial Ave
Josh
Sun, Aug 10, 2025, 12:00 PM
Meet at noon, ride at 12:15
4:00 PM
End location: Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St, Vancouver, WA 98660
Each ride in this series will start at a Multnomah County Library (MCL) branch and end at a different library system, with an opportunity to sign up for a card at both locations. Did you know that if you live in any Portland area county — Multnomah, Washington, Clackamas, or Clark — you can get library cards for all of those systems? Each library system has a unique selection of materials and services, so collect 'em all! Libraries also make great pit stops while out riding — water, bathrooms, a quiet spot to stop and rest without having to spend money — so knowing your library branches can be very useful even when farther from home. First up is Vancouver — officially, Fort Vancouver Regional Libraries (FVRL). We'll start at the MCL North Portland branch, swing by the recently-reopened MCL Kenton branch, then head over to Vancouver to the downtown Vancouver Community Library branch. If you want to sign up for an FVRL library card, bring photo ID and proof of address. See fvrl.org/library-accounts for more details and what kind of documents to bring. Route map: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/50234458 Another perk of libraries is that they often have activities or exhibits available to visitors. For July and August, the Vancouver Community Library branch has an art exhibit by the Chronic Pain Project, "Illuminating the Invisible." The Chronic Pain Project is a local nonprofit "dedicated to raising awareness of the often-overlooked experience of living with chronic pain." The exhibit on display at the library was created by participants in the Chronic Pain Project and "the art created is a visual representation of their experience of pain intended to provoke conversation and promote understanding the wide variety of experiences people have with chronic pain." See chronicpainproject.org for more details. The ride isn't officially a loop, but if you stick around for a bit (check out the art, and maybe the farmers' market: vancouverfarmersmarket.org/downtown-market) we'll ride back as a group. Departure time from Vancouver TBD, but likely around 3:00pm. Directions also gladly given back to the start or to the MAX if you want to leave earlier. When we get back to Portland there might be a bonus stop at the also–recently reopened Albina branch; TBD. Look for future rides in this series to libraries in Milwaukie (Clackamas County, LINCC) and Beaverton (Washington County, WCCLS), dates TBD.

Sun, Aug 10, 2025, 1:00 PM
Meet at 1PM. Roll out at 2PM
Established in 2017, we ride once a month to enjoy what this city has to offer. Each month is led by a different CORVIDAE member, and therefore will be unique. We occasionally have themes or additional donations to different organizations. Additionally, host pop-up rides during the summer. We try to focus our rides on greenways, group etiquette, safety measures and general comradery. In addition to bike safety and accessibility, we want to promote using bicycles as an alternative to fossil fueled travel within Portland. This is a no-drop ride, but please bring your repair kit with a spare tube so we can keep the ride rolling. Please bring your own provisions; we’ll be stopping near stores, but not at them. Each member has an eye out for the crowd, will cork, sweep and be a general pillar of support. Ride pace is casual at around 10 miles with a few park stops. We aim to impress that this is a safe environment for all; no aggressive, sexist, racist, or any other kind of BS will be tolerated. Please review our Corvidae Code of Conduct. In our second year of Poetry Post Pedaling, we'll visit and read from poems posted in Concordia, Irvington, Alameda, Grant Park, Sullivan's Gulch, Rose City Park, North Tabor, and Laurelhurst. If you know of (or are the host of!) a poetry post in one of these neighborhoods, reach out and we'll see if we can include it in the route. We end with a park picnic and more poems. Second draft (close to final) route: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/52041889 We will be near a couple of stores during two of our poetry stops, including Realm Refillery. It's likely the mister on NE 26th will be running to cool us down. 9 of 11 poetry posts will be within the first 5.5 miles, so if you'd like a shorter route, there will be an opportunity to peel off at that point and stay in NE. The final stop near Stark on SE 52nd is extra special though!

Contrapalooza is back! Dancing? Biking? YES. Join us for a night of lively folk dance with smiley humans as we ride and dance our way around Portland. This ride is designed for beginners to learn how to contra dance, no experience needed! Just bring a good attitude and willingness to make mistakes. We will roll around town with dance stops and jams brought to us by caller and DJ Noah Grunzweig of Contra Remix and sound by Naked Hearts PDX. Each of the dances will have instructions, all calling is non gendered, and this is an intentionally queer welcoming space. Join us! (We practice consent and non-violence on all our rides. Please help make the ride as safe as possible for yourself and others. If you’ve special needs please come talk to your ride leaders. Banned riders and riders who can’t post on the calendar are banned here too. Banned dancers from contra communities are banned here too. ) https://www.instagram.com/reel/C_WZF5uytao/?igsh=MW8yazZyNnpvbmVzNg==

Ride is a loop
End location: Ride is always a loop
Our instagram is nakedHeartspdx so you can see how we ride. Weekly themed rides. Different ride leaders each week, but you can expect the ride to be social paced (8ish mph), no-drop, safe and welcoming, store stop with safe clean bathroom access and the ride is always a loop. We practice consent and non-violence specially with car interactions, what one ride does affects how all rides get treated. The Mellow Mondays are a space for (new) ride leaders to try out ideas in a very supported environment. You’ll often see Mondays rides appearing again during the warmer riding season. We follow the shift code of conduct and expect everyone to be respectful of themselves and others around them. This is so we can actually relax and have fun and connect with each other in a softer space. This isn’t a sober ride but we ask for moderation to keep the atmosphere relaxed. We recommend Abraham Fixes bikes in N Williams and NomadCycles (e-bike specialist) for repairs/sales and parts. Our friends over at RideSafePDX host regular ride and we’ recommend those as a pleasant warm group to ride with.

Meet at 7, ride at 7:30
I mustache you a question: Would you like another mustache ride? Well we're gonna have one on Monday the 11th of August. This will be a 6 ish mile ride in SE PDX ending at a sloped grassy field near Mt Tabor. There will be one store stop at the Safeway on Hawthrone. This is a no-drop party-pace ride (10ish to 12ish mph). We will have treats that are hard to eat if you have a mustache! Feel free to bring your own to share. If you were there last year, this should be a pretty familiar experience. This ride is for both mustache havers and mustache appreciators. Everyone is welcome! No one will be turned away for lack of mustache, but we will have stick-ons for the willing.

On hot days, the nights are wonderfully warm. There are few nights like this, with ideal bike-riding weather. I love night-time bike rides, as there are less cars, and the city is beautifully lit. We'll meet at 10pm at the Vera Catz statue at the East Bank Esplanade. The Vera Catz statue is just north of the Hawthorne Bridge, and just south of the intersection of SE Salmon St & East Bank Esplanade. We start riding at 10:30 pm. It'll be a slow, easy ride, for about 90 minutes. We'll ride back and forth across downtown bridges: Tillikum, Morrison, Burnside, Steel, and maybe Broadway. There will be scenic, skyline views. We'll stop to socialize on 1 or 2 bridges. Depending on interest, we might do a quick stop at Insomnia Cookies (has vegan options). Finally, we'll ride to Sunee Thai and Lao Kitchen (1400 SE Stark St, 97214), which is open until 2am and vegan-friendly. Riders are welcome to share a meal there. This will be a slow ride, paced for people learning to bicycle, enjoying scenery, and socializing. No one will be left behind. We’ll stay together as a group for safety.

ride leaves at 6pm sharp
End location: Cully Park
The annual taco ride is back - but in the interest of shaking things up a bit and scouting some new spots, we're headed northeast this year instead of north (!) We're gonna eat ~350 tacos from Northeast Portland's best tacquerias and food trucks. birria, shrimp, asada, chorizo, fish, chicken, veggie, relleno, mango habanero, carnitas and more. Wanna bike around and help us eat them? As per tradition, we'll meet at the Gazebo of Peninsula Park, but we're hoping to end in Cully Park this year. This is a slow, no-drop (no one left behind!), all-ages-and-abilities ride on flat neighborhood greenways and chill streets - it's about an ~10 mile, one-way ride. Please bring cash to hand to me at the beginning of the ride, or even better, venmo/paypal me some $ ahead of time (asking sliding scale $15-40 depending on how hungry you are/how generous you are). Proceeds go towards very generous tipping at each local business and anything left over ends up towards a lump sum donation to PCUN – Pineros y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste. Stay tuned - we'll update this page shortly with more information on the specific spots we're headed once the route is confirmed. We'll buy some vegetarian tacos, too, but to be clear, some of these places have better veggie tacos than others, so adjust expectations accordingly. venmo: @ambrown You don't *have* to RSVP, but it's strongly encouraged, especially if you want vegetarian tacos. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeemZxFRUgNwK3ojNPEDwNM5555UY-sS26WJy9A6dHe84QNnQ/viewform?usp=dialog

Show up and let the City know that traffic diverters/modal filters and greenways keep people on bike and on foot safe. Mayor Wilson is trying to remove traffic diverters from NW Portland in order to turn one-way streets for cars into two-way streets for cars. The City’s stated goals include sending more cars up NW 20th Ave directly into the Flanders greenway, which is the crown jewel of bike infrastructure for NW Portland. Even if you don’t live in NW, ripping out these diverters means that every diverter in the City is at risk. Every piece of concrete that keeps us safe is at risk if the City doesn’t understand that hard infrastructure keeps us safe. The agenda for the BAC meeting is here: https://www.portland.gov/transportation/bicycle-committee/events/2025/8/12/portland-bicycle-advisory-committee-august-2025-0 Bike Portland has complete coverage of the NW Diverter Removal Scandal: https://bikeportland.org/tag/nw-diverter-removal-plan

FKA Twosday Road Rascals but a slightly different approach. Taking back 2sDay is here and starting this summer for a ride every other week! We continue the tradition that started at the picnic tables at Irving park years ago. The torch has been passed and we’re back! Well be focusing different end spots then usual ones plus we’ll have new ride leads popping up thru summer so if you want to lead just ask! Party paced to swifter at times with regroups and a real no drop mentality. Meets at the picnic tables by the tennis courts or under the covered area if it rains. Meet around 7 for a 7:45 roll out! If you’re banned from other rides don’t come on this one. Pretty simple lol. Don’t be an asshole to others on the ride and traffic or pedestrians, respect people’s space consent and possessions. All rise for the Prince of Darkness!
Pit Princette (Calvin) & NakedHeartsPDX (Moorland)
Tue, Aug 12, 2025, 7:00 PM
Gather at 7pm, Ride at 7:30pm
A ride honoring the legacy of John Michael Osbourne; AKA Ozzy Osbourne, the Prince of Darkness (December 3rd, 1948 - July 22nd, 2025). Metal and the sprawling community it encompasses wouldn't exist today without four people getting together in Birmingham, England in 1968 and trying something new. This ride serves as a space to celebrate the life of Ozzy Osbourne and the heavy metal community as a whole. Metal has had an immeasurable impact on my life and it only seems right to be in community with each other when one of the originators passes on. The final Black Sabbath show, "Back to the Beginning" was a fundraiser for three nonprofits doing excellent work, many Birmingham-based. In the spirit of that final act by Ozzy and Sabbath, all who are able are encouraged to donate to Birmingham Children's Hospital, Acorn Children's Hospice and Cure Parkinson's. With how much need there is across the globe, feel free to donate to any cause that speaks to you in honor of Ozzy and Black Sabbath. "For being the Prince of Darkness, he sure brought us a lot of light", all the way from Birmingham, England to Portland, Oregon. Donation Links: Birmingham Children's Hospital: https://support.bch.org.uk/donate/ Acorn Children's Hospice: https://www.acorns.org.uk/donate/ Cure Parkinson's: https://cureparkinsons.org.uk/get-involved/donate/ THEME: All things Ozzy. This ride will blast Ozzy's music, including both his records with Black Sabbath and solo material. Wearing Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne or other metal gear is encouraged. ROUTE: Route will be about 10-14 miles with a store stop, taking roughly 2ish hours in total. End spot TBD, might be a loop, might not be. Will be finalized prior to the ride. While the route won’t be posted beforehand, feel free to ask the ride leader about specifics at Oregon Park or the store stop if you have questions.

Old you: eradicated. New you: activated. Summer’s still going strong—and so are we! Join us for a magical, musical Pedalpalooza ride where we say a joyful farewell to the version of ourselves we’re ready to leave behind. Bring your bike, your best vibes, and an effigy of “Last Year You” (or a creative representation of whatever you’re ready to release—old baggage, bad habits, expired mindsets). We’ll cruise about 4 miles to a beautiful spot where, at sunset, we’ll take part in a light-hearted ritual to eradicate what no longer serves us—and ride boldly into the future as our freshest, fiercest selves. 🛠️ Need help building your mini-you? Show up early—we’ll have limited supplies for effigy-making creativity. 🎶 Expect tunes, transformation, and maybe a dance break or two. 🧥 Bring an extra layer for post-sunset chills. Let go. Lighten up. Let yourself fly. See you in the glow, fam.

At this point it’s pretty much official that the wonderful Benno Boy has ridden his last ride. Last Saturday the 28th of June Benno Boy hit the Godzilla,King Kong and Gigantor of Potholes at SE 39th and Stark on the way to @biteonbelmont. After 22755 Miles and 8 wonderful years of Riding all over Portland Oregon, nearly 1000+ Group Bike Rides and probably around 300-400 Ride Leads during Pedalpalooza and Afterpalooza plus probably 2000 rides to Portlands Food Carts his frame gave up the ghost. I’m very sad to say Goodbye to my trusty steed as he had become a huge part of who I am. There will be a memorial ride to say goodbye and to welcome his successor on Wednesday August 13th (Mini Version) and Saturday August 23rd (Full Version) Thank you to all the incredible bike mechanics for keeping him running since he was purchased from The eBike Store May 4th 2017 you are heroes of the highest order. FYI - many of Benno Boys parts will live on in his successor. Thank you #bennoboy you will be missed. Benno Boys official last Bike Summer Ride Lead was the #BonbRelay on Friday June 27th. FYI - what does this ride include? If you know me my rides are equal parts of the following: Getting Lost (Get Lost Rides) Cool Streets (Streets that are not straight) Coolness or Hidden Portland Rides (Lots of Murals, Artwork, Colored Houses and fun found things) Light Brigade (Fun lit up rides) And Finally Foodie and Family Friendly Rides The Mini Memorial Ride will be a condensed (Mini) version of the larger ride on the 23rd staying in the inner city and wrapping up at the Duckworth Dock for a swim in the Willamette Please bring any photos and stories about Benno Boy

Ride is a loop
Gather for a ride celebrating one of the best working directors: Luca Guadagnino. Both bicycles and music play central roles in his tender, lavish films, so it only made sense to do a ride celebrating his work! THEME: The films of Luca Guadagnino! Expect a route highlighting the beauty of Portland. Expect a playlist of scores and soundtracks from his films, including tracks by The Psychedelic Furs, Sufjan Stevens, Blood Orange and Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross. Excited for the ride and want to check out or revisit some of his films? We recommend Call Me By Your Name, Challengers, Suspiria (2018), Bones and All and Queer. ROUTE: Route will be about 10-14 miles with a store stop, taking roughly 2 hours or so in total. Ride will be a loop - you will be back at Laurelhurst park at about 9:30-10pm! While the route won’t be posted beforehand, feel free to ask the ride leader about specifics at Laurelhurst Park or the store stop if you have questions. --------- This ride aims to be a safer space. We take the Shift2Bikes Code of Conduct seriously and do not allow harassment, violence, racism, bigotry, threats, or other actions that go against the code of conduct. BiciBuds (Máximo & Bryson)
Thu, Aug 14, 2025, 7:00 PM
Meet at 7pm, ride at 7:30pm
Ride is a loop
Last year we had a blast with this ride and it’s a nice change of pace for a Thursday night, so BiciBuds are “taking over” RideSafePDX Thursday and taking you back to the 90s with the “The Pure Moods Ride: Volume II Edition” Imagine a world where time drifts slowly? A world where music carries you away….that 90s commercial that grabbed your attention at the oddest hours blaring loudly from your TV — no other collection of songs would give you the same experience? Direct from Europe, this album inspired us and we can’t wait to have you experience the nostalgia journey. Music will feature the classic songs from these amazing cd albums that came out in the 90s. Did you know that they released three different collections? Ride Leaders: BiciBuds (Máximo and Bryson) This is a no-drop ride, leisure 7-8 mph pace, route will be shared closer to the ride but about 8-10 miles in length with a brief store stop. No person will be left behind. Simply communicate to us if you need to leave the ride early. Safety: This ride intends to be a safe space. SHIFT Code of Conduct is important and implemented on these rides. No harassment, violence, racism, bigotry, transphobia, threats, or other actions that go against the SHIFT Code of Conduct will be accepted. Respect others and ask consent before touching another person or their belongings. If you experience or witness an issue, tell the ride leader and if SHIFT banned you as a rider, you are banned on this ride too. Also, if you want to alert SHIFT if you see a problem on any group ride: Email: conduct@shift2bikes.org or via Google Form: https://forms.gle/sYN8zZqMkPt2QCih7

End location: Not a loop, but usually with a fire.
Thursday Night Ride is Portland’s longest-running weekly social ride, riding every Thursday night since 2015! Routes and ride leaders change weekly, but expect an energetic party-paced “rolling dive bar” of a ride for newcomers and regulars alike. Most rides will feature park and store stops, but come prepared to have fun and celebrate cycling together—other wheeled guests should respect the pace and space of cyclists. New leadership, same positive vibes. While you might expect some wheelies and other chaos, riders are expected to follow Shift’s Code of Conduct, and if you’re banned from any Shift rides, TNR isn’t for you. No complaints, just accountability—if your behavior makes others feel uncomfortable or unsafe, please leave the ride before the ride leaves you. Riders should practice consent, accountability, respect, and de-escalation at all times. Stay behind the ride leader and don’t forget to thank a corker! 📍 Salmon Street Springs, every Thursday, rain or shine. 🕖 Meet at 7:00, announcements at 7:30. ✨Be an Empowered Bystander✨ See something off? Step up in a way that feels right for you: 🗣️ Direct: If it's safe, say *That's Not Right* for TNR. 🎭 Distract: Change the vibe and give them an out 🙋🏽 Delegate: Get help from a ride leader or trusted friend ⏳ Delay: Check in with the person afterwards 📝 Document: Write down what happened
⛲️ If you have any questions, concerns, or just want to get involved, come early and ask for the ride leader—we’ll see you at the fountain!

End location: Sellwood Park: The Shack
Hello, Sellwood families! SMILE’s Transportation Committee is hosting a BIKE BUS from Llewelyn School to Sellwood Park every Friday morning this summer. Beginning Friday, June 20, the Bike Bus will depart from the front of Llewelyn Elementary School every Friday morning at 9:50, ride a loop on bike-friendly roads and greenways, and conclude at Sellwood Park at 10:10 (map, route information, and pickup times can be found at bit.ly/sellwood2025). The ride will be family-friendly, with music, an adult ride leader, and a caboose rider. Helmets are required for anyone under 16 years old. Kids riding on their own bike should be at least 8 years old and able to ride for a couple of miles. Younger kids may join with parental support. Parents are encouraged and welcome to attend! All bikes should be in good condition. The pace will be fairly slow, and nobody will be dropped. Don't forget locks for bikes to lock up at the park. Kelley Point Park, Where Columbia Blvd and Marine Drive meet
Meet at the Peninsula Park gazebo and we'll depart at 5.
Nancy Myers
Fri, Aug 15, 2025, 4:45 PM
Depart Peninsula Park at 5, depart Columbia Park around 5:30, arrive at KPP around 6:15-6:30.
End location: I'm aiming for picnic area F: ride all the way into the park to the circular drive at the end, and head into the forest on the paved path. Ride past the bathrooms, and picnic area F is 100ish yards past them, on the right.
Kelley Point Park is the very tip of the long peninsula that is North Portland and it's a hidden gem with plenty of shade cover, winding paths, cozy beaches on both rivers, and really decent bike access to it. Did I mention bunnies? Loads of bunnies there too. So let's have a potluck dinner this summer! The route will start at Peninsula Park, make a stop in Columbia Park to pick up additional riders, and meander through quiet neighborhoods, along bike paths, and past Smith & Bybee Lakes. It's about 9 miles one way (7 from Columbia Park) but easy riding. The last couple miles are a bit of a slog along Marine Drive but the path is fabulous and it makes the destination that much more appreciated. Potluck: Bring dinner. Bring your own plates etc. Bring something to share. This will be a true luck-of-the-pot: I'm not orchestrating anything like Aunt Claire used to do for Thanksgiving, sheesh. I'll provide a pre-heated grill (probably charcoal, and with a designated meat-free section) and a few necessary utensils if you really want to cook something. I'll also bring water, maybe lemonade, maybe...I dunno...root beer floats? Watermelon? Classic summertime fare. Note that although we're on a beach, swimming is strongly discouraged at this location. 'Best not to risk it. We'll wrap up 8ish, and the return is up to you - retrace the route, or head into St. Johns for your next adventure. Message me if you have notions, questions, suggestions. It'll be lovely!

Back for its 15th year, Get Lost! is a Pedalpalooza Bike Ride led entirely by chance. Dice are rolled to determine how many blocks to ride, and which direction to turn once we get there (odd total = R, even =L). We ride until we find a natural end point. Feel free to bail whenever you wanna go somewhere else. You never know what to expect. Since we won't be taking designated bike routes riders should be pretty comfortable in semi-hairy conditions, but dangerous or illegal routes will not be traveled. Probably not a loop, but that's what we said the first year, and we (eerily) ended up in the exact place we started! Read about that year's ride here: http://bit.ly/2qY2TmQ This ride will be broken into an Evening and Night edition ride, the evening ride will commence around 8:30pm

August is statistically the most common birthday month, so what better time than a Friday exactly in the middle of August to throw a giant birthday party for EVERYONE? Moly & Hami of Revolutionary Bicycle Club will be leading because it is in fact their birthdays this week, but whether or not it's actually your birthday, come out and act like it as we roll around town, stopping at parks along the way to partake of all the birthday-est things you can imagine (with a little revolutionary flair, because joy and revolution go hand in hand). We'll have birthday music. Vegan and GF birthday cake from Yasaman PDX. A gift exchange. A birthday raffle. A "fuck ice" piñata stuffed with the perfect combo of fun treats and leftist literature. We'll have it ALL, because it's YOUR BIRTHDAY, BABYYY 🥳🥳🥳 ✨RIDE SCHEDULE✨ 1) Ladd's circle– meet 6:15, leave 6:45 🎈 2) Colonel Summers– piñata at 7 🪅 3) Oregon Park– gift exchange at 7:45 🎁 4) Laurelhurst– birthday cake and raffle at 8:15 🍰 and *maybe* a birthday dance party If you want to participate in the gift exchange, please bring a small wrapped gift (something you made yourself or something that cost less than $30, please). We encourage buying gifts from local pro-Palestine businesses listed on portlandtopalestine.com! Riders are also encouraged to bring an extra "birthday" gift to donate to the SE community free store! We'll collect gifts and drop them off at a later date along with a birthday cake, because our unhoused neighbors deserve a party too. Hygiene items, food, pet food, drinks, camping gear, first aid supplies, socks and underwear, books, and art/craft supplies are all appreciated 🎁 The birthday raffle will be a fundraiser for a Palestinian family. You can make a donation to the fundraiser as a birthday gift to Moly & Hami, and if you win, it's like an extra birthday gift for yourself! Raffle prizes include hundreds of $$ worth of bike gear, gourmet vegan food, and garden supplies. VIVA LA REVOLUTION, VIVA LA BIRTHDAY 🎈 🎂

Did you know that Oregon State Parks were originally developed as a branch of the Oregon State Highway Department thanks to the same declaration that preserved public ownership of our Pacific beaches? A representative from the Bureau of John Russell will be on hand to familiarize everyone with the intricacies of OAR 734-20-0045: Prohibition of Non-Motorized Vehicles on Freeways. He’ll show you the ropes, having ridden every mile of freeway in Western Oregon himself. With over 50,000 miles of cycling experience, and thousands of miles of unsupported bike touring, he will also show everyone the ropes of bike touring and camping, so please come prepared with hammocks, tents, sleeping bags, and anything else you need for an enjoyable night outdoors at LL Stub Stewart State Park. There may be an attempt to provide a support vehicle to carry gear for those with limited carrying capacity, but support is not guaranteed. Please bring approximately $20 cash to cover camping fees, MAX fare, food, and firewood, etc. but no one will be turned away due to lack of funds. Meet at 11, ride at 11:30 am. We’ll be starting in SW Portland at the Goose Hollow MAX Station (SW 18th & Jefferson). For the main portion of the ride, we'll travel on over 20 miles of wide shoulders in a nearly straight line along US 26, originally planned as the "Wolf Creek Highway" and more commonly known today as the Sunset Highway. After a supply stop in Banks, we'll enjoy a much quieter afternoon along the car-free Banks Vernonia Trail before making camp at two reserved hike-in camp sites at L.L. "Stub" Stewart State Park, for a total of ~35 miles on Saturday. On Sunday, we will break camp (1 PM checkout) and meander up to 30 miles back to the MAX Blue line in Hillsboro through scenic rural Washington County. In total, the ride will be an approximately 65 miles long over two 30- to 35-mile days. While the route does not loop, we will connect to the MAX on each end, so please bring appropriate fare unless you want to bike the whole way home. For those of you who would prefer to ride on your own and meet us along the way or at camp, an approximate route is posted below. Please do not drive to the campground without coordinating beforehand, as parking may be limited at costs $10/night. Camping is limited to ten people, so please RSVP if possible: https://www.facebook.com/events/2145896042589896/ Come have fun and ride the roads you never thought you could! Portland: Neighbors Welcome + BikeLoud PDX + Strong Towns PDX
Sat, Aug 16, 2025, 1:00 PM
Meet at 1:00pm, ride at 1:30pm
End location: Rainbow Road (Ankeny & 28th plaza)
Meet at 1PM roll at 1:30PM. Ride will end at the Rainbow Road public plaza on Ankeny and 28th so we can eat and chat! Our vision is simple: it should be legal for any residential lot from roughly 12th to 60th, Fremont to Powell, to contribute to a thriving, mixed-income, mixed-use fabric of urban neighborhoods by allowing street-scale apartment buildings. Portland: Neighbors Welcome has been campaigning to make this a reality, and we hit a huge milestone a few weeks ago: Portland's Bureau of Planning and Sustainability has released the results of their Inner Eastside Infrastructure Study, which examined how the current infrastructure could handle to opening up these neighborhoods to more neighbors! Our third annual Inner Eastside for All ride will take us on a tour though the study area as we talk about the results and envision what the future of Portland's Inner Eastside can look like! Our wonderful friends at Strong Towns PDX and BikeLoud will join us to talk about the fiscal wisdom of siting new housing where we already have developed infrastructure, and why allowing more people to live in our most bike friendly neighborhoods is an essential part of meeting our transportation goals! Ride will be ~5 miles, slow pace and no drop. Kids are very welcome but the content will be aimed towards adults.

The Gaza Sunbirds is a para cycling team from Gaza who are calling on cyclists around the world to ride with them this weekend in solidarity with Palestine. We'll be riding not just in solidarity with Palestine, but with oppressed people and political prisoners everywhere! Through poetry, music, food, art, and storytelling, we'll get riders engaged with liberation struggles from Palestine to the Philippines, from Oregon to Iran. Meet us at Laurelhurst Park at 5:30 for some educational activities and speakers. Roll out at 6 and ride along with us to 3 different stops where we'll learn about other causes (and how they're all connected). At the end we'll have food, screen printing (bring your own T-shirt or tote) and a film screening about Palestinian prisoners. Pace will be easy, and no one gets left behind. This ride is being organized/supported by Revolutionary Bicycle Club, the Portland Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines, Al-Awda PDX, @Ankh.Inkh.Studios, @Bint.Bandora and others!

Want to meet fellow cargo biking families for a short bike ride around N Portland with some VERY kid-friendly stops?? This ride is for you! We'll start with coffee and breakfast (some provided but feel free to bring anything you'd like to share!) at the Peninsula Park playground. We'll hang out for approx. 1 hour (enough time to burn some more energy and stock up on berries and breakfast burritos), then hit the road to stop #2: the newly renovated Albina Library! We've heard the new kids area is incredible and can't wait to check it out as a group. We'll post exact times we're leaving/arriving to each location closer to the date, but expect a slow ride, good vibes and lots of little bikers! We'll stick to bike-friendly streets like Vancouver, Going and Ainsworth. Hope to see you there! Feel free to reach out to Mila at 785 979 6713 if you want to touch base.

Meet at 10 am, roll out at 10:15 am
11:30 AM
End location: Tigard Public Library, 13500 SW Hall Blvd, Tigard, OR 97223
Join us for a leisurely Sunday morning ride leading from the Beaverton City Library to the Tigard Public Library! Bring a book (or check one out at our destination) and some cash for the Tigard Farmer's Market, which we will pass shortly before reaching the Tigard Public Library. The planned route covers 6.6 miles of mostly-flat terrain and almost exclusively follow the Fanno Creek Trail. Expect a small amount of road cycling along SW 5th Street & low-traffic neighborhood greenways during the first 25% of the route, then paved multi-use paths with minimal street crossings the rest of the way. This is a no-drop ride and we will cycle at a relaxed social pace (under 10 mph) - that way we can safely travel around any pedestrians (or ducks) on the trail. We will also make a water/bathroom pit stop about halfway along the route. Lastly, there will be an optional return ride that will depart 2 hours after we arrive at the Tigard Public Library. This 9.3 mile return route will be more adventurous, mostly mostly emphasizing low traffic greenways and residential streets and occasionally crossing paths with the Fanno Creek Trail. We will swing further west and then north to pass through the Stark Reservoir; follow SW 125th before cutting through the Downing Greenway to get back to FCT; make a right on SW Denney and proceed north along the elevated bikeway on SW Western Ave; and lastly make a left on SW 5th Street to finish up at the Beaverton City Library. The exact details of the return route may be subject to change prior to Sunday 8/17. Feel free to email me with any suggested changes. NE Holladay, NE 15th, the other half of NE Halsey & NE 9th or maybe NE 7th. We will also ride a few laps on the course between 12:55pm and 1:10pm short video of 2023 ride: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKMmEfkypJ8&t=2s Were you at Pioneer Courthouse Square on Friday June 24, 2022 wearing an inflatableT-Rex costume setting a world record? https://www.instagram.com/p/CfRwcZcJdcg/ Still have your costume & notice how forlorn it is just sitting there? Have you ever wondered if it is possible to ride a bicycle in an inflatable costume? I have. And then I googled it. Much to my surprise, there are some people out there that have already ridden a bike in their inflatable T-Rex costume... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YOumG6HS-rY So, are you gonna live the entire summer without showing people how truly awesome, fun, and perhaps foolish, you are? Right!! I didn't think so. Have you still not ridden across the Blumenauer Bridge?? If you have, now you can do it in costume ! if you know Chris Guillebeau, would you please let him know he inspired me ! Need a costume? I bought my inflatable costume on Ebay for $44 bucks from someone in San Francisco, so it got to PDX in just 3 days so you have time to order yours! maybe get yours on ebay or some other online place. there are so many to choose from !! search online for "inflatable costume" and be amazed !. Please also email if you have questions. Bring Your Own Tape if you fear your rear wheel will eat your tail. ride at your own risk! but we will be riding at Parade Pace!

12:00 PM
End location: Speck's Records & Tapes
On this ride we will be exploring the ex-boyfriend genre of music, including but not limited to: the National, Bright Eyes, Interpol, and more. While the organizers have a certain brand of hipster indie ex-boyfriend in mind, please queer all of the above, including the word boyfriend. An expansive definition of ex is also welcome. Maybe you’re the boyfriend—do you insist that others “have to listen to the album straight through?” Did you make your partner listen to Neutral Milk Hotel’s “early stuff” while moving to Portland? Did you ask them to move with you without /quite/ asking them to move with you? The important thing is, this person probably cares a lot about music and vinyl and hi fi audio, and like, speakers. Come dressed as your ex (first person wearing their ex’s Joy Division t-shirt gets a prize)—you can sell the fit at Give & Take while we have a corrective crate digging experience at Speck’s where our ride will formally break up. Conscious uncouplings may happen on our journey (this is not a no-drop ride), which will be about an hour long with a stop at Irving Park. Submit songs or bands for playlist consideration to craws_bridges.9c@icloud.com by August 10. As one of my exes said, “let’s ride.”

Sun, Aug 17, 2025, 12:00 PM

Laurelhurst Park, SE 33rd Ave & SE Ash St
Just South of the park entrance at 33rd & Ash, is an area surrounded by bushes. It's the coziest spot with a bit of seclusion. Look for bikes & rope.

Meet at 6:30pm. Start tying in the park. Ride at 7:30pm
9:00 PM
Ride is a loop
Meet at a park. Tie rope decoratively over your self and friends. Then we'll ride with the patterns still on! People wear rope for many reasons: it's beautiful, artistic, a connecting activity, to take photos, and/or to get good at knots. We'll start by tying outdoors in the park for an hour. Bring a blanket, your own rope, and all you need for your ties. There's no official class or instruction. Time in the park will be an open "rope jam", time for experimentation, fun, and/or socializing. If you're new to rope, here are two basic patterns that would work for this ride: 1.) hishi karada, the rope dress: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EuPz0tZUjFc&t=4s 2.) chest harness: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUsznt8qNgE Rope rules for biking: Keep the patterns decorative, and loose enough that it's not constricting anything while you ride. No loose ends dangling! We'll take time to ensure there are no dangling loose ends. We'll ride slow, and pull over if anyone has issues with rope coming loose. We'll have a park stop or two along the way, so folks can fix any issues with rope. Ride details: Slow ride, paced for people learning to bicycle. No one will be left behind. This allows time for socializing during the ride. We’ll take greenways and bike lanes, to minimize interactions with drivers… because Portland’s bicycle network is incomplete, there may be short necessary portions of sharing larger roads, and we’ll stay together as a group for safety.

Meet at 5:30, depart at 6 PM.
8:30 PM
End location: Near 122nd Ave MAX stn.
Sometime in the middle 19th century, stone mile markers were placed along the length of what became SE Stark St. From the Willamette to the Sandy River, these milestones helped travellers navigate what was once a wild area. Over the years these markers were largely forgotten, yet miraculously over half still remain! We'll take a leisurely bike tour to see the markers that still remain from MP2 to MP7. Ride is not a loop but will end near the SE 122nd MAX Station on the Blue Line. After the ride ends there will be an option for interested folks to get food and libations.

Let’s play BINGO! We’ll do a round or two at the start point, at stops along the way, and at the end where we’ll finish with a blackout round. We’ll have some prizes, but it would be great if everyone could bring a white-elephant style gift. This should be something you already have but don’t want, an item from a free box, or something along those lines. Please only bring vegan-friendly items (no animal products, including leather, feathers, meat, dairy, eggs, honey, etc.). Please join even if you don’t have anything for the prize table as there will be plenty. We've been collecting items just for this! If you have a dry-erase marker for yourself/extras to share, please bring them for marking off your Bingo cards. We'll have some to share but may not have enough if it's a big group. Thank you!

Mon, Aug 18, 2025, 6:30 PM
Meet up at 6:30, roll out at 7ish
I've been wanting to do this since last year's release of Challengers by Luca Guadagnino but I'm non-commital. Finally it's happening! Put on your sluttiest tennis outfit, maybe invite your polycule, and lets ride and play tennis at different courts around town. No experience required (I think I played tennis once when I was a kid so I'm no Tashi Duncan). We'll listen to the Challengers Original Score by Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross and other music that fits the vibe. Bring your tennis racket/balls, water, tubes, and your third wheel. Sharing is caring! **Would be super cool if people are willing to share their tennis gear or knowledge so anyone who wants to join can give it a shot **I won't post the route ahead of time, so hit me up if you wanna know, or ask me at the start of the ride **We'll spend some amount of time at each stop to toss some balls around **bring the bi vibes
