Dance Party and World Naked Bike Ride

This is one of the biggest events of Pedalpalooza. Last year, we had about 700 people at the dance party and 500 riders for the Naked Ride. This year, we expect nearly 1000 people at the dance party and 700 for the Naked ride.

If you've never been on a naked ride before, see Your First Naked Ride. For links to the relevant laws, see The Law.

The remainder of this page is intended mostly for the event organizing team, not for participants. If you want to help us organize it, scroll down to the “Organizers Needed” section.

This page is all about the late-night ride, and the dance party serves as its starting and ending point. There is also a Sunny Naked Ride, and even a (non-Pedalpalooza) 5K Bare Buns Fun Run this day.

Lost and Found Box from party is at Organics To You

Hey, if you left something behind please stop by Organics To You to see if we found it cleaning today. It is best if you stop by between 1:00PM to 5:00PM as they are pretty busy in the morning.

Top Priorities Right Now

First look at Organics To You

On Monday, April 23 Organics To You said that it was cool we use their 10,000 sq foot warehouse. The location is ideal, at 606 SE Madison. Yeah, not only a sustainable business but a bike friendly one as well. Thanks to Jeme for the lead on this! See the Floor Plan.

Find free Booze

Looks like beer is probably taken care of (New Belgium rocks!), but if we feel the need for wine…somebody's gonna have to source it. Does anyone have ideas for how to get some wine donated? If interested please sign up on the mailing list and speak up.

Find Ties

There is a theme for this party in which we are trying to get a hold of about 1000 neck ties. Need a few people to contact local thrift stores to see if they will set them aside for us and give us a good price. Also need some people to hit up The Bins to see if they will hold ties for us and charge us by the pound.

We've found an online wholesaler who sells crates of 60 ties for about $50. When you add shipping, it works out to about 98 cents per tie. That's more than we want to pay, but at least it gives us an upper bound. And, if we get desperate, it's a way to obtain the last couple hundred ties if the Bins fall short.

Organizers Needed!

We need volunteers to organize the dance party. If you're interested, please join the dance party / naked ride organizers' mailing list by sending email to <PDX_WNBR_2007-request@pnxcorp.com>. You should expect to receive a confirmation message in a couple hours.

The following is a list of the main organizational tasks, and more-or-less what's involved in each task. Volunteers will usually step forward to help later, but what we need now is organizers. Last year, Jasun single-handedly took on all of the organizational tasks, but that was overwhelming. He isn't burned out; he's just wiser now. He'll do some of the organizing, but not all of it.
