This is one of the biggest events of Pedalpalooza.
In 2006, we had about 700 people at the dance party and 500 riders for the Naked Ride. In 2007, we had (insert count here) people at the dance party and (insert count here) for the Naked ride. In 2008, we had (insert count here) people at the dance party and (insert count here) for the Naked ride. This year (2009), we expect (insert count here) people for the dance party and (insert count here) for the Naked ride.

There are many changes this year. There are reasons for all of the changes. Read on, O Curious Cyclist!

It is on the middle Saturday of Pedalpalooza, not the first Saturday.

The naked ride has traditionally been held on the first Saturday during Pedalpalooza. This year, that would be June 12. Unfortunately, that's also the day of the Rose Festival Grand Floral Parade. Every traffic cop in the city will start working at 2:00am that day. The naked ride has grown so large that we need poli…

“Public nudity” is legal in Oregon, with a few obvious exceptions. See ORS 163.465. However, Portland has adopted a stricter “indecent exposure” law, 14A.40.030, which overrides Oregon's “public nudity” law within Portland city limits.
If you’re contemplating making this your first naked ride, you aren’t alone. Portland's World Naked Bike Ride has been growing by at least 50% each year. Last year we had around 5000 riders, one of the biggest naked rides ever, anywhere. This year we're hoping for... We don't know. More. Trends say 12,500 -- about the same as BridgePedal! That means we want a lot of first-timers.
